I convinced my parents to put mint in our garden about 8 years ago without realizing how much it would overtake the ground. Every year, when they mow down all the previous year's foliage and till the garden, there is an overwhelming and powerful scent of mint; instead of dirt and sweat, they smell like fresh mint after a hard day of work. 🤣

Nicholas Kloss I didn't realize this until recently when it was pointed out to me, but if you over-muddle your mint it releases the chlorophyll and make it taste bitter. I definitely over-muddled my mint before knowing this.
Favourite way to use mint: I eat the leaves directly from the garden - can't help myself, love the stuff! I'm looking forward to getting a freeze dryer in the New Year of 2023 so I can keep powdered mint on the shelves for quick additions into meals/drinks etc. I also love to use peppermint in the diffusers and in carrier oil as a face moisturiser and in castile soap to use as a hand soap and as a dish soap with a bit of lemon oil as well.

I get headaches sometimes. I use spearmint and peppermint leaves stuffed into a bandana. Dampen and tied around my temples. The oil and the aroma of the two mints relieves my headache in 30 minutes. This is my favorite herb. 😊
Great info, great video! We love healthy refreshing cold drinks. My favorite is using fresh pineapple and a lot of mint in a blender along with a little regular water (so it liquifies) and a bit of raw sugar or stevia. Then I pour this “concentrate” into my serving pitcher, add a generous amount of sparkling water (to your liking) and lots of ice cubes. Top it off by adding whole mint leaves and some slightly muddled (using raw sugar) mint leaves to your beautiful pitcher of Pineapple-Mint Spritzer. I also make this in a smoothie form where I blend the same first ingredients (because blending pineapple and sparkling water makes too much foam), and sometimes in smoothies I also include a mango. Then separately blend the sparkling water with ice cubes obtaining the smoothie consistency you want. Combine both and taste test for sweetness. Mint is amazing!
I recently used mine to make a spicy pesto (mint instead of basil). Olive oil, mint, parmesan cheese, and calico peppers. I highly recommend growing calico peppers to everyone. It is a small bushy plant with purple, cream, and dark green leaves--very ornamental. And it makes little, very spicy purple peppers from purple flowers, and the peppers turn a red when mature.
Your spicy mint pesto description with calico peppers is making my mouth water! I'm learning a lot today reading through these comments LOL. I've never tried calico peppers but I'm going to find some seeds online and buy them now ready for our spring! Thank you! :)

Sounds delicious...I love cilantro but am dairy free...so will make it more of a pesto or salsa w olive oil, garlic and maybe some kind of nut, jalepeno and a tomato...just happen to have an heirloom. Will try it tomorrow since I accidentally bought 2 bunches of cilantro and was wondering what to do w one:) Thank you for posting
I do dry my mint and brew it all year long, I love it, used to drink wine every night and mint save my life, I still drink wine over the weekend, but mint turned me from an alcoholic to a moderate drinker, thank you for your tips. please keep posting
Thanks for the lovely tips ! My favourite way of using mint is “mint mojito” a drink that really cools down in hot summer. I also use it for mint chutney or mint dips for several cuisines. Another use of mint is to just add 2 or 3 leaves to your tea will add a great flavour to the tea (not to the milk tea please).
Because of the Covid-19, I'm looking for youtube videos about how to grow my own plants indoors or in my own backyard to avoid going to market as much as possible. This is really a great video and informative one. Thank you for sharing!
You can grow anything inside with proper balance of light, water, soil and air. Even tropical fruit trees do well up north, indoors. Start with a windowsill herb garden! You can regrow plants from the packaged cuttings at the store. This goes for pretty much anything!
Hello from Northern California ☀️ Love mint! 🌿 Particularly spearmint...Blackberry mint green tea iced tea (recipe below), tabouleh, mock mojito (muddled mint/sweetner, fresh lime juice and sparkling water), balela, and of course just mint steeped in hot water served warm or cold. Great videos- don't change a thing! Blackberry mint iced tea: 6 big fresh blackberries, sprig of about 8 mint leaves, 2 bags green tea, 3 cups boiling water, a little sweetener. Steep for 15 minutes (no longer) and strain. Refrigerate to chill. Tip: don't throw away the "cooked" blackberries - eat them while still warm. Delicious!
If I subscribe, can I expect to see a video on this soon?? :D it doesn't even have to be professional or step by step or the process. ypu could post a commentary while showing the bar(s) of soap. it's going to be a big industry. my friend Angie was on Gary Vee's show talking about such and dermatology with organics.
Not quite impossible, my mom managed to kill every plant she tried to grow, including mint! But for your average person, it's pretty hard to kill. The hard part in my house is using it fast enough! But if I have too much, I can just dry it and put in the compost :P
Yes, I did plant mint in my yard on purpose. Mint family is one thing my herd of deer won’t eat. I tried for years to grow something green around the edge of my lined pond. Deer took everything, I planted aquatic mint and it covered the edges nicely and no animals eat it. I know I am in for a battle, but I am hoping water mint requires wet soil. I also use Walkers Low Catmint a lot. You have a gorgeous garden!
First of all, thank you! You are our favorite green thumb! We have learned so much from you over the last few years! Montana Mint Spitzer: (refresher for hot summer days) (make your house smell amazing 👏) One large spray bottle Fill halfway with spring water 💧 Add five Mint leaves 🍃 Add ten drops of Birchwood essential oil Add ten drops of Pine essential oil Add five drops of Cedar or other woody essential oil Add a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol Shake vigorously Spray liberally throughout your house before company comes or whenever you need a refreshing scent Spritz on your skin in the summer if it is too hot. Continue to use and refill, discarding and replacing leaves as necessary. :) Enjoy
I ordered some mint seeds online yesterday & the seller said they will be delivered Sept. 13-25. I.am totally excited after seeing this video. Thank you.
Oh I'm glad to read this as this was my reason for considering growing mint in the garden (and maybe some indoors) so if its working for you, then I'm definetely doing it! 🙌
omg. Thanks so much for this! I never knew mint went dormant during the summer in a hot climate. I live in zone 9/10 in FL and was throwing away mint when I thought it was dead, but it was only dormant. Thank you!
Too funny! I live in Georgia and didnt know either. I was about to throw mine away. It's looked so sad all summer. I've been propagating it and nothing. Now I now.
@@aroundworldnews dormant? Like in the winter, trees lose their leaves and sleep. In hot climates plants go to sleep to conserve energy. The sun is too exhausting.
Wonderful tips. Thank you. Fell in love with mint when I started growing herbs because it was so forgiving. Use it a lot when I cook. Also put sprigs in a small vase and leave it around the house. Makes the rooms smell wonderful!
First off, thank you for being an inspiration to starting my first garden this year. Second, I'm growing three different mints and my peppermint is exploding and taking over every pot I put it in. Can't wait to perfect the best cup of peppermint tea. Hope you and your loved ones are well after the wildfires. Keep posting!
Because I like coffee a lot, I find that using mint as an alternative in tea helps a lot. It is tasty and healthier and hydrates me. I want to grow more mint so I can drink more tea instead of coffee like this. Thank you for a fantastic video. Your passion is so evident and inspiring =)
Mint is the last seedling I bought before we all went into self isolation, really excited to get it started in a container on my front porch. Hopefully in a few months when we can have visitors again, everybody coming to my house will get that beautiful fragrance as they arrive. :)
Grow Your Happiness you can just buy store bought mint, pluck the bottom leaves u need then leave the top leaf, sit it in water till roots poke out and just put it in dirt. U will harvest so much faster
I make a spicy green goddess drink. I blend a lemon, the rind (minus the pith), fresh ginger, large cucumber, fresh and dried mint, a touch of raw honey, and a bit of cayenne pepper. I add water to fill the container. I drink one cup of it per day and it will last me about 1 week.
So glad I came across this channel!!! One of the best gardening channels I’ve seen yet. Thanks for the tips! - my grandmother used to take the leaves and boil them with water to make mint tea. It helps with stomach aches and digestion problems. My friends from Vietnam love to put them in their soups !
I planted a tiny skraggy mint my neighbor gave me last year. It came back pretty good and I was like oh cool it might actually grow, then when spring hit this year it just shot up everywhere in the whole container like nuts. I feed it to my bunnies, they love it and its great for their tummies.
My favorite uses for mint: cocktails, infused water or tea, mosquito repellent! bruise up some leaves and rub the oil on your skin, put a sprig in the brim of your hat or in your collar and the mosquitos stay away.
More than anything I LOVE fresh mint lemonade with spearmint specifically... it's a Turkish recipe. Tear the leaves and stems into large pieces to help the flavor bleed out and cold-steep in a big jug of lemonade. Option to shred down the mint much more so it can be sipped along with the lemonade, much like pulp in orange juice. Once it steeps for awhile (as long as you want depending on your desired flavor) it is the freshest, most delicious thing.... Try it out!!!
My wife is Middle Eastern, in summer she takes mint leaves ,some lime and a lot of ice cubes, puts that in a blender and makes sort of a ice smoothy, extremely refreshing.. The rest of the mint goes into mint tea, salads and lamb kebabs. I expanded our mint growing this year under the fruit trees, production couldn’t keep up with consumption.
I love mint! I grow it wild all over the place but keeping it separate from other mints. I started in pots and I guess it dropped seeds and spread anyway. This regular mint took over all places and I just mow it down. Now it barely comes back where I mow all the time. it smells awesome and great to use for so much. Oils and teas is great. I also have spearmint and Chocolate mint. I can also make sprays against bugs. I'm still learning so much, and every day is a new adventure. Love your videos!
That's a very good point! I'm trying to cut back on my sugar intake at the moment and adding mint with some citrus to soda water really helps me. Cheers :)
Started my new mint with some out of a fridge from across the street. Had bought it for tea for my dad. It looks pretty good for stuff that was in a fridge and sat in water to grow roots.
Favorite mint recipe is Mint Sugar! Equal parts mint & sugar in a food processor, stored in an airtight container. Use for dipping strawberries or dusting melon, or incorporate into your favorite beverage or cocktail
I have a ton of this growing wild in my side yard. The previous owner; 35 years ago planted it and it’s been proliferating since! I don’t mind it smells great when I mow and I make jelly with it.
Thanks for the video! I'm a beginner with gardening and this is very helpful. My favourite way of using mint is making 'Mint raita'. Blend a punch of mint leaves, 1 tablespoon of water and 2 tablespoons of yogurt in a blender. Add the mixture to 3 cups of yogurt, 1 teaspoon cumin powder, 1 teaspoon chillipower/red paprika powder, salt and a dash of lime. Mix well and serve.
So I watched your mint clip when you first put it out, I took your advice and it's just started to grow new leaves as the weather starts to warm up (coastal SA)... they're already huge leaves! I've had my trusty mint plant for at least 5 years and the leaves are always quite small (I neglect it..), this year the first sprouting leaves are already bigger than I usually get! Thanks Mark!
I've been growing my own mint as I'm obsessed w/ it. So far so good. I have a lil' mint plant on my nightstand and the scent is just everything to me. Very invigorating.
I bought a chocola.e mint plant and put it in a wicker basket under the silver maple just off the patio. The mint filled in the basket nicely. I cut it back twice. I stuffed a pint canning jar with rinsed off mint leaves and vodka. I am keeping it out of the sunlight and shaking it often. My mint extract should be ready by the end of summer. I have access to a great chocolate mint cookie recipe, yum! I used the cuttings from the second pruning to propagate enough plants to share with my garden club. The aroma is wondeful.
Many years ago I spent a few months on a kibbutz in Israel. Outside our chalet, someone had planted mint. We didn't trouble ourselves to nurture it much, apart from watering it when the weather was particularly dry. But it grew and grew and grew, and kept us in delicious mint tea the whole time I was there.
We have a tiki bar in our basement...after buying little bags of mint as needed for garnish, we visited a neighbor who was growing mint when we needed a larger amount. I learned how easy it would be to grow so I'm starting my own container of mint...to use as needed as garnish in tiki cocktails!
I plant mint along buildings, fences, around trees, etc.. I keep it from spreading too far with my mower.. When I mow down the excess, the entire area gets a treat smelling the mint..
I use mint as a companion plant for my Brassica Plants, as I find it helps keeping the pests at bay. I do also grow mint in containers. I dry my mint leaves and store it away for later use, ditto for my lemon balm leaves. Coincidentally, earlier today I planted some Korean Mint and Lemon Mint seeds, so it was very cool to see your video on mint now, thank you for the tips. For a maintenance free mint plant with a very, very strong mint aroma, you should try growing Corsican mint. I discovered it in a nursery a month ago and have to say I absolutely love the aroma of this mint, so I'm planning to grow alot of it in the future.
Hi Jenny, I just Googled Corsican mint as I hadn't heard of it but what a lovely cute leaf it has! I must try to find some as it would look great in salads or garnishes besides having a good strong minty flavour/smell. Thank you! :)
Blended into mint lemonade is my favorite way to enjoy ☺ Mint is also great paired with thai basil in fresh spring rolls, or with lettuce to wrap fried spring rolls.
Really useful and important tips. I use mint to make...dips , smoothie, infuse the drinking water for fresh aroma, sandwich spread and lastly to garnish salads.
Great advice thanks. I recently started growing mint as I started to use it as a tobacco alternative. Very successfully too no tobacco in over a year 👍
@@debk5325 I used it at a smoking alternative if I’m honest it’s along side another magical herb. But it successfully got me of the tobacco and I was able to smoke less. You be happy to hear I cut my mint right back just as you said and it’s come back really strong. ✌️🫀✌️
@@debk5325 haha legend! A friend recently introduced me to using dried rose petals. Thought it would be horrible but was surprisingly nice. Thinking of mixing the two.
Thank you, very informative! I love the mint taste and smell and eat or use it in most everything as it gives it such a fresh taste and reduces my nausea or upset stomach. My favorite use is in salads and fresh asian spring rolls. Mint is so expensive to buy so I hope to grow some using the tips provided perhaps on my porch in a container.
Also, be careful where you throw the pruned parts. If you put them in your compost, you might have mint cropping up where you don't expect it. Might be a good idea to burn the pruned back parts.
Beautiful! I made the mistake last year of letting mine get all woody, and then went on vacation too many times and I feared it was completely dead! I planted other things in the container but sure enough, this Winter it came back in FULL FORCE haha! It's doing fantastic now. I'm so happy I didn't remove the roots. I've been pruning hard since and it looks nice and lush like yours. I'm in Tampa, FL USA and considering transplanting some into parts of my yard where nothing grows to let it be a ground cover. We have a lot of sand here and it may be one of the only things that will do well there.
cbr954ny it's pretty much pure sand so you have to add a lot of material to hold moisture and nutrients. we have some clay neat northern FL too. Every type of soil has pros and cons I'm sure!
I see, I guess some clay soil is better than too sandy of a soil. No one here in North Georgia area waters their lawns and the grass stays green all summer, even in drought. I guess its the clay soil holding lots of water!
Thanks for this! Growing a salad/herb garden for the first time to try and a) bulk out my food stores for my family and keep my sanity during this covid madness! This is really helpful - i've tried growing mint before but it's always been super stringy so this is awesome!
I watched a lot of videos on plants or even if not plant I spend too much time on RUclips, but I rarely subscribe to channels and I know that's not good but I for the first time and not for the reason to get new informative videos whenever this channel uploads but because, he gave this warm feeling when giving tips, I just wanted to hear more, I subscribe without thinking much.
Hi Mark I like to put mint into mince meat when making patties/hamburgers with paprika, garlic whatever you like. Nothing better than homemade mint sauce like I grew up on :). I have been growing mint for years but thank you for your advice never stop learning!
Mint-cilantro chutney. Mint pesto - you can also try substituting mint for basil in other recipes. Mint tea. Mixed in salads. Many Greek recipes use mint.
My favourite way to use mint is an Indian dish called Hariyali. It uses at least two or three handfuls of mint leaves along with two to three handfuls of coriander leaves. So i now need to learn to grow fresh coriander...This video has been very helpful. Thank you so much.
I actually want my mint to spread over a 10 foot square area at the back of the garden because I love the smell so much. It has stayed within the same small 2 foot area for the last 3 years.
...Thanks for the informative video. I am growing a mint plant inside for my office. I like the aroma almost as much as I like the aroma of lilacs. During the winter months...here in Southwestern Michigan...USA..its good to see a green, healthy plant. It helps remind me that like Winter, Spring is always coming...and I do enjoy the Green. ...If I can build a few more garden boxes during this coming Winter, I may put one of my Mint plants into it. Why not. Thanks again
We LOVE adding our mint to fresh spring rolls, fruit salads, infused water, and of course a Mojito every now & then! In the future, I want to make some mint jam to go alongside a juicy lambchop!
i've been growing spearmint in my paludarium (half aquarium half vivarium) for about a year now and am very happy with the growth rate. also pretty much all plants in the mint family can be grown very well hydroponically. as long as you keep all the leaves above water, they will grow quite happily even with completely submerged root system. i've grown normal mint and spearmint this way. i've also seen people growing catnip in such setup too. fertiliser wise, they don't require that much. there is trace amount of NO3 salts naturally occurring in the paludarium water (broken down fish poop and fish food turn into NH4 salts then the biomedia in the filter turn them into NO2 salts then finally NO3 salts). so all i need to do is dosing small amount of iron and magnesium supplement once a month or two.
Very helpful tips👍 I use mint in buttermilk; lemonade; in breads; to flavour my butter or hung-curd; When ever I have abundant harvest, I shade dry the mint and crush it and tin it for the lean period.
I love mint in cold potato salad with lemon juice, lemon zest, and extra virgin olive oil. My dad planted mint in a small, empty garden bed at a house we used to rent. It became a nice ground cover for an otherwise ugly spot. We lived in another house when I was a kid where I remember sitting on the ground picking mint leaves with my mom, dad, and sister. The plants were already growing in a bed there when we moved in. My parents used to freeze the leaves and made tea with them in a percolator. So, I was thinking about planting mint in the ground because of my past experiences, but I'm having second thoughts after watching your video. Thank you for the tips!
The mint tea i make every night makes me feel literally drugged it relaxes me so much... about 1-2 hand fulls of mint in 170 degree Fahrenheit water for 4-5 minutes
Representing Dixie here, and as a native of the great Tennessee territory we like our dozen mint leaves muddled in a glass with 1 oz simple syrup, and crushed ice. After which add your 2.5 oz whiskey or bourbon and pack to the top with more ice.

Thank you! :)

thanks for the tip. I'm definitely gonna give that a try!
You can just call it a mojito
Because of the Covid-19, I'm looking for youtube videos about how to grow my own plants indoors or in my own backyard to avoid going to market as much as possible. This is really a great video and informative one. Thank you for sharing!
I think we're tied on the same pole😀
You can grow anything inside with proper balance of light, water, soil and air. Even tropical fruit trees do well up north, indoors. Start with a windowsill herb garden! You can regrow plants from the packaged cuttings at the store. This goes for pretty much anything!
The same😍
I have been trying to do the same exact thing! Nothing better than fresh organic veggies
Me too! Im really excited to get started on mint
I put a large handful tied together into my bathwater! Since it's fresh, it doesn't make a mess.
Love that idea! Thanks :)
Thank you so much 🥰 I loved this .. very excited to start planting mint ..I love my mint in tea and lime mojitos 😍

This ^ lol
I throw in about 5-7 leaves in a mug of tea ☕️ so good! It’s also underrated for salads.
Delicious!
I use mint in homemade soaps. I always buy my mint. This will be my first year growing mint. Wish me luck....
It is impossible to kill. Impossible.
You dont need luck, its Mint....! You need luck to get rid of it if you plant it directly into your garden

30 mins to watch the video then 30 mins to read the comments. Pure gold!
You not alone!

First of all, thank you! You are our favorite green thumb! We have learned so much from you over the last few years!
Montana Mint Spitzer:
(refresher for hot summer days) (make your house smell amazing 👏)
One large spray bottle
Fill halfway with spring water 💧
Add five Mint leaves 🍃
Add ten drops of Birchwood essential oil
Add ten drops of Pine essential oil
Add five drops of Cedar or other woody essential oil
Add a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol
Shake vigorously
Spray liberally throughout your house before company comes or whenever you need a refreshing scent
Spritz on your skin in the summer if it is too hot.
Continue to use and refill, discarding and replacing leaves as necessary. :) Enjoy
I ordered some mint seeds online yesterday & the seller said they will be delivered Sept. 13-25. I.am totally excited after seeing this video. Thank you.
I grow mint exclusively as a wasp repellent and it smells nice when you walk up to the front door
Wasp repellent! Wow - another thing I've learned about mint, thank you :)
Me too Chris. Wasp were trying to make nests on my porch.
Oh I'm glad to read this as this was my reason for considering growing mint in the garden (and maybe some indoors) so if its working for you, then I'm definetely doing it! 🙌
Will mint repel honey bees too?
Fresh mint tea is also a great use for mint
Now I now.
What does that mean
@@aroundworldnews dormant? Like in the winter, trees lose their leaves and sleep. In hot climates plants go to sleep to conserve energy. The sun is too exhausting.
@@nancyfahey7518 I just wrote this to a friend: "I try to go walking outside in the a.m. ~ but even then it's H*O*T. I walk from shade to shade!"
Me too! In Tampa! Good to know it grows anywhere, shade or sun. I am resisting planting it in the ground.
Where I live, all you have to do is throw it on the ground, and then RUN LIKE HELL! It grows so fast, it'll knock you down coming up!😁
Philip Davis yes it’s always like this .. don’t understand of the purpose of making this video 😂
I'm hoping I have such luck!!!
Great video. I love using mint in smoothies! Thanks for the helpful tips
The Steve Irwin of gardening! Thanks for the great tips!
Mr Smith the bill gates of gardening
I was reminded of his death now I’m sad
Because I like coffee a lot, I find that using mint as an alternative in tea helps a lot. It is tasty and healthier and hydrates me. I want to grow more mint so I can drink more tea instead of coffee like this. Thank you for a fantastic video. Your passion is so evident and inspiring =)
Thanks for the info! My daughter and I watched the video together since she is starting her tea garden. Our favorite way to use mint is in tea!!
A very good dip of mint or mint chutney
Mint
Salt
Cumin seeds
2 garlic cloves
Tamarind pulp
1 green chilli
Some water to
Grind them all and enjoy
Mint is the last seedling I bought before we all went into self isolation, really excited to get it started in a container on my front porch. Hopefully in a few months when we can have visitors again, everybody coming to my house will get that beautiful fragrance as they arrive. :)
Grow Your Happiness you can just buy store bought mint, pluck the bottom leaves u need then leave the top leaf, sit it in water till roots poke out and just put it in dirt. U will harvest so much faster
@@Amy-pk1zg It's ok, as I mentioned I did get a seedling but thanks for this advice anyway! :)
I never thought about putting this at my front door! What a great suggestions! Thanks!
It's been 4 months. Updates?
Update? :D
I bet that's a fresh tasting drink! It sounds great and very healthy - full of antioxidants.
That sounds delicious and healthy! I'm going to try that drink. Thanks for sharing.
Mmm I’m trying this
can i come over?
What is that good for? Or do you just like the drink?
So glad I came across this channel!!! One of the best gardening channels I’ve seen yet. Thanks for the tips! - my grandmother used to take the leaves and boil them with water to make mint tea. It helps with stomach aches and digestion problems. My friends from Vietnam love to put them in their soups !
I love mint with loads of cooking , but fresh leaves in my tea pot love it , thanx man !
I love to use mint in salads, smoothies and soups😊👍loved your video
I planted a tiny skraggy mint my neighbor gave me last year. It came back pretty good and I was like oh cool it might actually grow, then when spring hit this year it just shot up everywhere in the whole container like nuts. I feed it to my bunnies, they love it and its great for their tummies.
My favorite uses for mint: cocktails, infused water or tea, mosquito repellent! bruise up some leaves and rub the oil on your skin, put a sprig in the brim of your hat or in your collar and the mosquitos stay away.
I boil mint leaves to make my instant coffee. Once I add cream and sugar, it tastes like a mint creamer.
Good idea
GREAT IDEA!! THANKS!!
I use mine to give a slight taste to my water along with some cucumber and lemon, my alternative to sweet drinks :)
That's a very good point! I'm trying to cut back on my sugar intake at the moment and adding mint with some citrus to soda water really helps me. Cheers :)
Self Sufficient Me : try growing & eating longevity spinach ! Helps to lower blood sugar level..
Started my new mint with some out of a fridge from across the street. Had bought it for tea for my dad. It looks pretty good for stuff that was in a fridge and sat in water to grow roots.
I got rid of sugar three months and I am happy
You sound like a hippy girl.
Favorite mint recipe is Mint Sugar! Equal parts mint & sugar in a food processor, stored in an airtight container. Use for dipping strawberries or dusting melon, or incorporate into your favorite beverage or cocktail
How do you measure equal parts?
Thank you. Sounds delicious
Thanks Mark!
i love Mint! but im having a hard time getting it to grow so lush like yours... i use it in my tea, infused water, spring rolls, Lao/Thai dishes 👍
I've been growing my own mint as I'm obsessed w/ it. So far so good. I have a lil' mint plant on my nightstand and the scent is just everything to me. Very invigorating.
mint julip: bourbon or rye, simple syrup over crushed ice, muddle a little mint, garnish with plenty of mint, and a dash of bitters
Are you able to share that recipe of the cookies.
Pineapple Mint leaves lightly candied in a quality sweetener , everyone loves the lil treats
I like to dry it in a hot pan till it can be crushed and then add it to dough to make mint roti. Mint tea is also nice.
Hey! Same pinch! 😁
Try dried & crushed mint leaves with chilled curd with a pinch of black salt for breakfast in summer.
Rota Mint rotiiii sounds good 👍👍👍
Mint tea is the best
Another great tip video Mark. your mint looks very fresh and well loved. Great video mate
Thanks Tony! :)
Nice video. My favorite way of using mint is adding it while making Biryani.
My favorite thing is feeding orphans to my mint. Makes it all lush and proliferating.
Thank you! :)
Blended into mint lemonade is my favorite way to enjoy ☺
Mint is also great paired with thai basil in fresh spring rolls, or with lettuce to wrap fried spring rolls.
Really useful and important tips.
I use mint to make...dips , smoothie, infuse the drinking water for fresh aroma, sandwich spread and lastly to garnish salads.
Great advice thanks. I recently started growing mint as I started to use it as a tobacco alternative. Very successfully too no tobacco in over a year 👍
No, so you chew on the mint in place of tobacco? So you dipped and not smoked? Elaberate if you will. I am proud for yoj
@@debk5325 I used it at a smoking alternative if I’m honest it’s along side another magical herb. But it successfully got me of the tobacco and I was able to smoke less.
You be happy to hear I cut my mint right back just as you said and it’s come back really strong. ✌️🫀✌️
Yes yes, I understand completly. I can give that a try. Long time smoker here. Thanks
Hello, thanks for sharing. My favorite way to use mint leaves is with icy Sprite and Lemon slices. Taste so good.
mint, cilantro, corriander powder, garlic, salt and chili flake in thick greek yoghurt, goes as a dip or extra sauce for a curry
In malaysia we add it to our curry laksa last minute, as a fresh herb topping. Thanks for sharing your video!
That's what I was thinking, too -- mint is so good in southeast asian soups along with bean sprouts and cilantro. (Also in tabbouleh... mmmm.)
It's sooo good with any kind of laksa 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Isnt Florida soil is pretty fertile?. Im in Atlanta, GA and we got clayish red soil which stays pretty clumpy and damp, not that fertike I think.
cbr954ny it's pretty much pure sand so you have to add a lot of material to hold moisture and nutrients. we have some clay neat northern FL too.

Mint sauce! Goes bloody mint with lamb, that's my favourite way of using it
add mint to hot tea, or steeping process for cold iced tea.
hot or cold plain mint tea is good too.
I like a bit of lemon in nine
Hi Mark I like to put mint into mince meat when making patties/hamburgers with paprika, garlic whatever you like. Nothing better than homemade mint sauce like I grew up on :). I have been growing mint for years but thank you for your advice never stop learning!
Love your video! I use mint as a natural pesticide around the house and for allergy season LOL. Thanks for the info!
Mint is probably one of the easiest plants to grow and one of the most difficult to kill 😊
I actually want my mint to spread over a 10 foot square area at the back of the garden because I love the smell so much. It has stayed within the same small 2 foot area for the last 3 years.
Never seen soo much mint in one container, i'm getting such a lovin" vibe from this man. Wonder if he's married. This is like the perfect life..❤❤❤
...Thanks for the informative video.
My mint plants always seem to struggle but based on these tips i need to prune and fertilize so hopefully that'll help
Me too
We love using mint in Vietnamese rice pper rolls and with lemon squash. Love your videos.
Oh yum! Fresh mint in rice paper rolls reminds me of our recent trip to Nam - my mouth is watering... Cheers ;)
Very helpful tips👍
I use mint in buttermilk; lemonade; in breads; to flavour my butter or hung-curd; When ever I have abundant harvest, I shade dry the mint and crush it and tin it for the lean period.
Cool I might try it
You should get out into the world and try some real drugs, you'll soon realise what placebo is.
Yes, great bedtime cuppa, best for digestion and bloating
I love chopping up mint on my watermelon, tea and in salads
Representing Dixie here, and as a native of the great Tennessee territory we like our dozen mint leaves muddled in a glass with 1 oz simple syrup, and crushed ice. After which add your 2.5 oz whiskey or bourbon and pack to the top with more ice.
Yep, mint julep all the way. Though as a non southerner I prefer it with rum or cognac.
