Really appreciated this episode John. I’ve been using autoglym for a long while with my DA and wasn’t sure I was doing it 100% correct. Clearly I wasn’t. I was using panel wipe after the polish phase and then applying too much wax. I love your comment about timing 🤭 3pm and realising you’ve got so much more to do!
After SRP can you apply fusso wax straight away? Or would I need to use ipa? I was thinking of using fairy liquid to get rid of the grease from the Polish before applying fusso to get rid of the grease. I'm trying to not use anything after polish. Please advice me.
@@ehs786 Dont do that, Just go with the wax straight after the SRP. If you clean after SPR you will just be removing the fillers that you put down. Would be pointless.
Thank you for another great video John. You’ve given me the confidence to have a go. The DA has arrived, the pads are arriving early next week. Really appreciate you time, knowledgeable and down to earth advice. You’re a diamond!
I went to order the DA myself but the orange/purple flex pads were out of stock from in2detailing. Just waiting for the pads to come into stock then ordering the pads and DA. Hope you enjoy yours 👍
Hi Jon. This is exactly how I got into machine Polishing as a mini business. SRP and Chem guys Hex Logic or later on when I learned more Menzerna pads and polishes. I spent hours and hours on Detailing World learning how to do it properly. One guy suggested a random orbital sander from Macallister sold in BandQ. Literally hundreds of us did this and the stores sold out in a week 😅 A few minutes to remove the guard and now you had a dual action Polisher for 50 quid. I did not know Autoglym have changed the formula to reduce dusting. I always kept a spray bottle with DI water in it to spritz the pad with. Brought back a lot of memories as I had to give it up due to spinal issues. Love your videos. So relaxing and you are just yourself. A certain guy from Canada should take a leaf from your book and learn some humility. 👍👌🏴
Jon thanks for all of the time and effort you put into these videos and enthusiasm. As a newby I have watched many of your videos but this weekened Ive took the plunge and DA polished my Isuzu after mutliple washes and clay mitting and then added a top coat of wax. Next weekend will be the interior my Vax arrived Saturday as per your video again. Thanks for giving me the confidence and your knowledge to do this. Hats off to you Jon. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍Even the Right Honourable Wife has congratulated me. 😂😂
Just ordered one of the DA Polishers. Can't wait to try it. I've always been worried about using one but after watching this, I'm now less worried. Great Video.
I feel like this type of system would work for 90% of the public. Maybe 98%. Most people dont care why their car or truck look good(fillers etc.) They just want shine! GUILTY as Charged Jon!!. I feel rushed on big jobs by the time I get to the final panels.... especially when working outdoors and I lose my daylight. Take care. Great video👊
Another great video Jon! Something for everyone on the FD Channel and love the way you break everything down into easy steps and encourage the newbies like me to take the plunge with the DAPolishers. Loved the fundamentals course and am already subconsciously changing my techniques in caring for my car, so feeling more confident, inspired and enjoying more too as a hobby. 👍🏼👊🏻
I have this polisher, also have the DA15 to save having to swap over the backing plates, which is a real time-saver. I did exactly this is in summer, takes about two hours and great results.
Love the old toothbrush tip for pad cleaning, been using one for years, perfect for the job, mine has a curved handle that works as a spatula if I need to distribute product evenly on a pad too!
Love this video Jon! Im a long term user of both products but have always done it the 'Hard' way with arm power. This video has given me the confidence to progress to a machine..and now I know which one to start with. Keep up the good work Thanks
Fantastic video 👍 This is pretty much the limit of my regime. And the maintenance of this work is one or two hand washes per week (including a pre-wash. Of those I’ve tried BH is the best) A point which I’d add is don’t do all of this hard work and then chuck your mitts/sponges/pads in the shed or in the garage, unprotected. I keep all of my touch tools (mitts, microfibres, etc) in a closed plastic box so that so dirt gets on them.
Thank you for doing these videos, I recently bought the 3Gpro to mainly do my headlights, and wow applied with a simple polishing pad with my cordless drill and a little bit of work they came up like new, so impressed with the 3Gpro
Hi sir, thank you for sharing your knowledge for free. I bought a 2nd hand Audi (silver-gold) which had some water stains or bird poop marks maybe. Being afraid of removing too much coat I went down the SRP root with a medium pad (da polisher). (Having decontaminated with, bug n tar, iron remover and clayed). Unfortunately I did not have even the slightest improvement on the marks. I was not expecting them to be totally removed but smoothen somehow However, it worked fine as a filler and brought up some color brightness again. Thankfully, the colour is very forgiving. So your observations are spot on. Finally I topped with Collinite and beadmaker. I am waiting to check for longevity, but when the protection collapses I m thinking on going to a 2 stage correction medium compound/pad , polish/soft pad +sealant. Again, thank you for your efforts educating us.
Funny you posted this. Back last year i needed to machine polish a bonnet but had run out of my usual Sonax stuff. I had a left over bottle of SRP, its like "My first polish". Everyone has used it at some stage. Anyway the bottle was probably 8yrs old. Used it with a medium pad and you know what, it did a grand job. I was actually really surprised.
Love this combo! Can't beat a staged machine polish but these make some impressive results. Just bought a race blue octavia VRS and used these as I don't have time to polish at the moment. Never fails to impress me! These videos are great for nice simple ways to finish and protect. More of these videos would be great for when I don't have much time 🙂
Thanks so much John/Jon. Been enjoying your videos a lot lately and this is the sort of gold I am after as a newbie wanting to polish my car. I just happen to have the SRP and UHD wax in the garage from a kit that I bought years ago and didn't really know what to do with. Use what you've got, as they say. Cheers!
Got my machine polisher from in2detailing after watching this channel and was really pleased with it. I didn't want to spend a fortune on two machine polishers since I am just a weekend warrior, so the interchangeable back plates was really appealing to me. Ended up being really easy to change them and use.
I am looking to get my first polisher, and like you I don't want to splash out on two machines. Is there much of an increase in vibration with the 3" pad?
This is my go to combo and my current paint treatment on my new TTRS. Not only is the finish impressive and both easy to apply, but I’ve never felt the paint so smooth or had a finish that is then so easy to wash. The applicator that comes with the UHD wax makes life easier.
UHD wax is pretty impressive, I remember when I bought the first iteration of it (HD Wax) back in 2014, the water behaviour was amazing. Never tried UHD yet though and likely never will.
@@Mac_F87 I’ve used HD wax until just a few months ago. Having picked up UHD in an offer and used it for the first time it seems like an excellent evolution of HD wax. Despite many newer alternatives I still find myself going back to AG’s wax.
@@Captainrave same I’ve tried many over the years. HD was one for he stand out ones for sure. I’ve got lazy the last year and a bit and use Gyeon can coat for ease of cleaning now.
I’m pretty much the guy you describe at the start, detailed my own cars for years but never polished..... I think the time has come to step it up. Cheers Jon.
What a helpful video, Jon! Thanks also for the honest assessment of actually doing the job properly. I have tried the Autoglym Super Resin before, though NOT properly to be completely honest. Thankfully Autoglym is readily available here in Canada at Canadian Tire, so I may have to revisit this with a greater measure of patience.
Based on this video, I have ordered a DAS 8 machine, and some flex pads from in2detailing. I already use both autoglym products, and have them on the shelf in the workshop. My DAS6 type machine from Slims has recently died, so needed a new one anyways, and I thought I would give those pads a go too. Keep up the good work Jon. 👊
Here I am, all set up to hand polish my car for the first time tomorrow. I've purchased everything I need and done my research. And now you've changed my mind, I need to go out and buy a dual action polisher tomorrow 😂
I have been experimenting with a few products since I got my DA polisher and everything I have used has been good but I have yet to find anything that I prefer using more than Autoglym. I have been using their products for over 35 years but always by hand and I love the easy application and durability of them. I haven't used it with my DA though so that's something for me to try. Great advice as always. Many thanks.
Another brilliant video Jon , I love your enthusiasm for detailing, can’t wait for the weather to brighten up so that I can get on with beautifying my car 🚗!with your insightful tips !
Ok, watched a few of your vids and off this video ordered the machine and pads. Bit nervous but giving it a go weather permitting at the weekend. Thanks pal.
Thanks for this video! I bought myself a polisher years ago, but have always been worried I’d make a mess of it. Will go and blow the thick layer of dust off it, and give it a go 😀
Jon again great video. 👍. Your down to earth approach really does give great advice. So many videos out there confuse but you make it simple. And I agree, you really do give people confidence to do this. Thank you and please keep them coming.
Follow Jon's advice, apply a good sealant like Fusso Coat, learn how to use Surfex HD as a prewash and BSD diluted as a rinseless wash and the car will look 100 time better than most cars on the road. You can really make an average car look amazing by just taking care of it. It's cheap and enjoyable to do so.
Hiya Jon, this is why I subscribed to your channel, great helpful tips and advice for people starting out. Because of you and your other review I went and bought the Das6 Pro with Scholl (S40??) all in one. Started to machine polish just like you said and hey presto it worked...thanks very much for giving me the confidence to give it a try 👍👍
Such a nice guy! Obviously passionate about doing a great job. Love how you share the info with others Jon in such a methodical and straight forward way. Keep up the great work!👍🏻
Thanx John for all your guidance and advice with reference to machine polishing the old Gillopy. After watching countless videos of yours i'm now the proud owner of the in2detailing DA15 and DA12 polishers coupled with the flex purple and orange pads with the koch chemie products. The results were amazing. And I was apprehensive about taking a machine to polish the car. No more and glad I took the plunge. You've got another member to your patreon following. Cheers 🍻
Thanks Jon. Two points are learnt. 1) Do a horizontal pass as well as a vertical. 2) 'Unblock' the pad with a toothbrush. I've often noticed that the pad is saturated with glaze which I always worried would render it less effective. Thanks
Brilliant video very helpful! I've used a da a few times on personal vehicle but always seem to get haze trail like marks(black vw paint) and then have to try rectify it always puts.me off and avoided since, can you advise me please , vehicle was clean and clayed before too any info appreciated thanks
Brilliant Video been watching this channel for a while now and have gotten a lot better now at detailing thanks to all these useful video thanks Jon 👌👍
Great video. One thing that would make it easier for my back and knees is a polish that doesn't stain plastic so no need for the use of tape. Does such a thing exist? I'm guessing the pad does a lot of the cutting anyway right?
Great video John I have this polisher also who h I use to refine I use my rotary first with a euro fibre pad I use Koch Chemie pads with there compounds and Automatic compounds which are very good
Great video mate... I'm looking at getting a machine polisher could you send a link to one you are using and pads please.. 😎 Sorry if its been posted already
Thanks for this I’m nervous and about to try this One thing tho do I polish the whole car first then after use the wax or do what you did do in sections straight away
Thank you for such clear, easy to to follow, damn good advice to a weekend warrior like myself who now feels ready to take the plunge and polish my car. 🙏🙂👍
What a brilliant channel! Could I ask I looked at the orange colour pad like you say in this video and it’s described as a medium - heavy cutting pad. Is that the right one? Thanks
Hi, loved this video and just finally had a go at polishing the roof of my metaloc blue impreza today as it was quite swirled and hazed. I'm more than pleased with the results but just looking at purchasing the uhd wax but seems quite pricey at arund £50. Is it really that good to justify this price or could I get something as good cheaper, or something better for similar price? It looks nice to work with in your video, just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions before I commit?
Thanks for simple and informative video. That’s exactly what I need it. What product would you recommend the decontaminate the car during the wash process from those little bits stuck on the paintwork we are getting from road surface. Many Thanks
Great video Jon!!!! One question: Can you work the polish in one section at a time then go back and buff the entire eg bonnet or side of car in one go Or do you need to buff each small section immediately after you’ve machined in your polish???
yer i would not do that mate. the polish is removing clearcoat and it builds up in the pad so generally smallish set. clean pad after set. wipe polish. have a look to see its ok. move to next area. when I try and cover more ground rapidly the results are not as good and its harder to be consistent. Less important if your just waxing.
Absolutely love this vid mate, it’s like you’ve aimed it at me lol, polisher ordered (£109) and orange pad 👍👍 Iv already got super resin polish and planning on putting my Gtechniq ceramic coating on after 👍👍
You just earned a new subscriber, what a fantastic channel mate! I’m starting early and working through these priceless guides! 🍻 about to buy a DA polisher, would you go DA8 or Meguiars MT320?
@forensicdetailingchannel , off topic what’s the best route for concrete removal in very small specs but enough to if removed would possibly take the clear off? Great channel mate btw straight to the point videos 👍🏻
You need an acid m8 that safe in paint. Or a water spot remover that's acid based. Soak it out with this. Wash it down. Clay it. Machine polish it because removing it will likely cause fine sctatch. A good acid could be like labocosmetica purifica or gyeon water spot. Or meguiars wheel brightener. Do a test spot first m8
Great video, thank you. You did 4 dobs or polish and did that square, how long typically would you wait before putting more product on the pads? Would you cover the whole roof with the initial 4 dobs?
Mr Forensic Detailing - thanks for the video and all the tips! This has been a great reference for my Focus. I've had great results with the Super Resin Polish but I was thinking about using a ceramic spray as opposed to a wax. What are your thoughts on ceramic sprays?
Really epic video for the channel Jon - clear cut, easy to follow and loaded with tips👌 camera work looked tricky! I use a DA 15mm from in2detailing and it’s fantastic - used it recently in a similar process with BH cleanser polish then Double Speed Wax. Great technique recommendation from the channel - lots are going to love it
I have generally used Autoglym super resin polish and their high definition wax, but this year I put their ceramic coating on putting the wax. Not quite sure if the ceramic adds additional protection or just improves gloss? On a fortnightly/monthly bases I use polar seal when washing the car. Am I wasting my money/time? Is there any way of putting a ceramic coating on a car outside and covering it to stop the dust adhering whilst it cures for 4 hours as my BMW 7 series won't go in the garage? Thank you for another enjoyable and useful video.
you can do a ceramic coating in spring summer on a nice day with no wind and rain mate. And after applying the coating you can top it a couple of hours later with gyeon cure or carpro reload to protect if you think its going to rain.
Just what I needed! I'm going to buy that machine and orange pads pal..........I've got turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic polish to use with it then after hand polish the ceramic graphine wax but do I need an ipa after the machine polish? Also do I do like you and go up and down side to side and my set it done? Then move on? Great channel, loved watching it for the content. Your passion comes out in every video which is great to see.
I use zvizzer polishing pads with the Koch range. I mostly work on bikes so use 2" pads and find a lot of brands either don't offer small pads or the small pads have useless durability. Zvizzer ones though are amazing quality pads that last a fair while considering the price. Not sure if you've tried them or use rotaries enough to need them but their new thermo pads are game changing. Insane durability and don't soften up when really working the pad.
the pads are really nice and like you say they have the complete range. its totally viable to use these pads. they dont last as long as the flex or scholl ones but they are a fraction of the price and very good.
Fantastic video. I’ve just purchased the Ryobi one plus machine polisher as I like the thought of cordless. Fingers crossed it’s decent. One thing that’s caused me doubt is you mentioning the 3” backing plate. I’m not sure if I can put a smaller backing plate on the Ryobi. I know you can replace the plates, just not sure whether there’s a standard fitment and whether a smaller one would fit. Interesting that you have used SRP. I’ve always been a fan of SRP, but always been let to believe that you get no benefit from using a machine with it.
Love your videos Jon! Been using SRP for over 20 years and it still holds itself up against the more expensive stuff. I thought expensive meant better and spent a period of time using Menzerna without much benefit. Question: hard German paint! Would you consider 2008 vintage bmw carbon black “hard German paint”?
Very interesting video! I don’t have a DA yet but when we start getting the better weather (no indoor space) I want to apply some SRP by hand, topped with maybe DSW, then pick up a DA and start on some practice panels. The in2detailing machines look like a good place to start! 👍🏻
Thanks for another informative be video, can I ask this from a ultra green newbie... If you're applying a wax that should last you a year, what do you use in the meantime, just a wash and a detailer? I've also read that if you use a ceramic coating then you shouldn't need a top up for a month or so? Im pretty certain that most will wash their cars more than once a month so what's recommended for in-between? Sorry for the questions but I'm trying to get a picture of what im looking for .. thanks for the videos and keep them coming
yer great question. a wax will likely last 3 to 6 months if its a good one. you can use a spray wax or a detail spray. or a ceramic shampoo etc... I would trust the wax and just was and us detail spray for a while mate.
scholl s20 is a much better polish for correcting and refining paint on a machine polisher yes. The SRP is more a quick fix filler glaze and primer for a wax but the SRP does seem to correct well.
Really useful video and good honest straightforward presentation👍. Could I ask how many times you could polish a car, from new, before there is a possibility of compromising the clear coat. I know there will be variables, but I’m guessing that a clear coat would wear out eventually? Thanks.
And example because like you say so many variable. heavy correction might remove 3-5 microns with heavy cutting pad and multiple sets. little finishing polish with a glaze might remove a micron for example. say you have 50 microns of clear. when you get down to you last few microns you will start to see a patch forming. so the more CC on the car the better really.
Love these video tutorials John. I agree with putting wax on in circles vs lines - just wondered what viewers' thoughts are about warming up waxes to make application easier. Does it affect the chemistry of the wax and make it less efficient, or is it a benign but effective step for ease of use?
I have the da polisher from argos. Its more than powerful enough. You can change the pad backplate top to any 5 /16ths. I've never had it at full speed, never felt the need. It does a great job. I've had more expensive da's and honestly it makes no difference. Also, autoglym hd wax is so overpriced. Bilt hamber double speed wax is much better and less than half the price. Also the newer autoglym srp is alot better but I've found menzerna 3 in1 is a similar price and knocks back swirls rather than filling them.
Thanks john , great video. How big should each section you polish be and would you tape off each section or do it by eye as I see the tape leaves marks temporary marks.
just use the tape to cover rubber bits mainly. you can do bigger sections but the results tend to taper off if you are removing swirls. so 2by2 square like I demo'd for good correction. Or bigger areas to just gloss up.
Hello. When should I use Super Resin Polish? Every time before Extra Gloss Protection? Only on paintwork with haze/swirls or also on healthy paintwork? Will it clean paint like cleaner products? Will putting EGP on top of SRP increase gloss or it doesn't matter?
The time this man puts in for us amateurs is amazing. He's taught me so so much which I'm grateful for. I wish I could show my gratitude more than just words

I’m pretty much the guy you describe at the start, detailed my own cars for years but never polished..... I think the time has come to step it up. Cheers Jon.
get in there Davo. If you need help Im here.
@@ForensicDetailing cheers man!
Thanks Jon, nice to see this pair getting an outing. Top tips and technique pointers as ever.
Happy new year to everyone at team autoglym 😁 I will get a new bottle of srp at some point lol
👊
Great video mate, very informative and useful. Thank you
Finally a video for idiots like me not knowing where to start. Thank you . Great video
I started out with a Griots Garage DA, it's an excellent polisher. Don't be afraid to polish!
Here I am, all set up to hand polish my car for the first time tomorrow. I've purchased everything I need and done my research.
And now you've changed my mind, I need to go out and buy a dual action polisher tomorrow 😂
Love your video's. You have got me into car detailing big time. Thank you 😊
Always sound advice from you Jon. Too many people over think things and make it more complicated than it needs to be. Thanks for sharing.
Jon i just ordered a tub of Autoglym UHD Paste wax, cant wait to try it out.
Many thanks.
thank you simon
Hopefully this year I get mine done. I have that polisher and the small one with hex logic green pads and s20 black and geon wax for the finish
I appreciate that paul thanks
Great video - in an ideal world would put any other product on the car after the wax?
what a great educator you are, thanks!
Thx u Julian
I see that Lake County are bringing out a 1 & 2 inch pad. Handy for tight areas
Such a nice guy! Obviously passionate about doing a great job. Love how you share the info with others Jon in such a methodical and straight forward way. Keep up the great work!👍🏻
Nice and simple, thanks. Really enjoy your content, Jon. Keep up the good work. Especially, helping us newbie’s. Top man!
Subscribed in flash - thank you Jon !
Cheers 🍻
P.S topped off with Bilt Hamber double speed wax.
Great video, I’d like to know what polisher you would recommend for a beginner, or which one you use.
Da9 m8 from in2detailing or das6 pro
@@ForensicDetailing Thank you for your reply, keep up the great videos.
Great video John
I have this polisher also who h I use to refine
I use my rotary first with a euro fibre pad
I use Koch Chemie pads with there compounds and Automatic compounds which are very good
Great video mate... I'm looking at getting a machine polisher could you send a link to one you are using and pads please.. 😎 Sorry if its been posted already
It's 8n the description m8 da8 polisher
@@ForensicDetailing found it on amazon cheers mate
@@ForensicDetailing have you a link for the pads you recommend.. Sorry if its been posted also just scanni g through on my phone with crap signal.
Thanks for this I’m nervous and about to try this
One thing tho do I polish the whole car first then after use the wax or do what you did do in sections straight away
Polish it all mate yer then wax
@ thank you buddy I’m going to do this today it’s a motorhome home 😣 autoglym rapid renovator and autoglym ceramic spray
Thank you for such clear, easy to to follow, damn good advice to a weekend warrior like myself who now feels ready to take the plunge and polish my car. 🙏🙂👍
Thx u sir
Cool video john
I know sandro from CCAD went into detail using a black bonnet about 2 years ago
What a brilliant channel! Could I ask I looked at the orange colour pad like you say in this video and it’s described as a medium - heavy cutting pad. Is that the right one?
Thanks
No m8. It's light polishing pad. In2detailing sell it. It's made by flex. (Not flexipad). See best polish pad video
Great video, thanks. If you polish too much, is there a risk of taking all the paint off and being left with just primer?
Going through clearcoat is a risk but tiny with srp it's mild m8. Watch edges.
@@ForensicDetailing that’s helpful, thanks.
First one of your videos I’ve watched, loved it good informative and some good tips, will now go find a few more
Awesome, thank you!
Great video thanks. What's the best way to clean your polish pads?
I've done videos in this mate
Sweet cheers
How would you recommend doing all this outside in the garden??could I clean 1 day, decontamination the next and polish another day
yes mate if conditions are nice and dry and not windy millions of cars get detailed outside every year.
Well... you've convinced me Jon. Order with In2Detailing for the DA8 polisher, some pads and consumables... 😬 😃
Brilliant video once again, thank you! Quick question though do you panel wipe after using it before using a wax?
No don't panel wipe after srp m8.
@@ForensicDetailing you are a legend!
Thanks for simple and informative video. That’s exactly what I need it.
What product would you recommend the decontaminate the car during the wash process from those little bits stuck on the paintwork we are getting from road surface. Many Thanks
Bilt hamber white clay m8
@@ForensicDetailing thank you
Great video Jon!!!!
One question:
Can you work the polish in one section at a time then go back and buff the entire eg bonnet or side of car in one go
Or do you need to buff each small section immediately after you’ve machined in your polish???
yer i would not do that mate. the polish is removing clearcoat and it builds up in the pad so generally smallish set. clean pad after set. wipe polish. have a look to see its ok. move to next area. when I try and cover more ground rapidly the results are not as good and its harder to be consistent. Less important if your just waxing.
Absolutely love this vid mate, it’s like you’ve aimed it at me lol, polisher ordered (£109) and orange pad 👍👍 Iv already got super resin polish and planning on putting my Gtechniq ceramic coating on after 👍👍
dont use ceramic on top of SRP mate. you need to use a pure abrasive and degrease or use a ceramic primer polish like Gyeon primer.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks for that mate 👍 I’m glad you mentioned that lol! I’ll use the gyeon primer instead of the SRP
Thanks again Jon
You just earned a new subscriber, what a fantastic channel mate! I’m starting early and working through these priceless guides! 🍻 about to buy a DA polisher, would you go DA8 or Meguiars MT320?
Da8 m8
@forensicdetailingchannel , off topic what’s the best route for concrete removal in very small specs but enough to if removed would possibly take the clear off? Great channel mate btw straight to the point videos 👍🏻
You need an acid m8 that safe in paint. Or a water spot remover that's acid based. Soak it out with this. Wash it down. Clay it. Machine polish it because removing it will likely cause fine sctatch. A good acid could be like labocosmetica purifica or gyeon water spot. Or meguiars wheel brightener. Do a test spot first m8
Thank you Jon for your guidance, very helpful, -- for this beginner!
Great video, thank you. You did 4 dobs or polish and did that square, how long typically would you wait before putting more product on the pads? Would you cover the whole roof with the initial 4 dobs?
4 Dobbs per set. Sets could be 2by2 upto 4by4
Mr Forensic Detailing - thanks for the video and all the tips! This has been a great reference for my Focus.
I've had great results with the Super Resin Polish but I was thinking about using a ceramic spray as opposed to a wax. What are your thoughts on ceramic sprays?
yer mate go for it. The autogym ceramic spray is one of the best on the market in terms of durability.
Your passion comes out in every video which is great to see.
yes IPA wipedown will degrease the polishing oils. with paint correction you might need to spend longer say 4 passes per set for example.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks Jon......top man ! 👍
Excellent video for a beginner like me. For compounding what pads do you recommend?
Flex pad m8
@@ForensicDetailing I see, what about foam vs wool pad for compounding? Do you have any video for that?
Thanks Jon the sort of video a lot of us really needed, so helpful
Fantastic video. I’ve just purchased the Ryobi one plus machine polisher as I like the thought of cordless. Fingers crossed it’s decent. One thing that’s caused me doubt is you mentioning the 3” backing plate. I’m not sure if I can put a smaller backing plate on the Ryobi. I know you can replace the plates, just not sure whether there’s a standard fitment and whether a smaller one would fit.
Interesting that you have used SRP. I’ve always been a fan of SRP, but always been let to believe that you get no benefit from using a machine with it.
Thanks for the video. You didn't mention car prep-prior to this step. Clean car + clay bar?
Love your videos Jon! Been using SRP for over 20 years and it still holds itself up against the more expensive stuff. I thought expensive meant better and spent a period of time using Menzerna without much benefit. Question: hard German paint! Would you consider 2008 vintage bmw carbon black “hard German paint”?
Yes but test it to see m8
hi Jon do you ever use a buffer for removal of the wax coating just wondered as they are out there, Or is this a daft question from a beginner
U can do u need a fine polish as well to strip it
Very interesting video! I don’t have a DA yet but when we start getting the better weather (no indoor space) I want to apply some SRP by hand, topped with maybe DSW, then pick up a DA and start on some practice panels.
The in2detailing machines look like a good place to start! 👍🏻
Skip the practice panels, you’ll be fine.
Great informative video 👍, how much pressure do you have use when using the machine?
Just weight of your hand. Generally.
Very good stuff. Scholl s20 is better Jon using a machine?
scholl s20 is a much better polish for correcting and refining paint on a machine polisher yes. The SRP is more a quick fix filler glaze and primer for a wax but the SRP does seem to correct well.
@ForensicDetailing Thanks then you have to use the correct pad with scholl s20
Great video, really enjoyed watching that. Very informative.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for the response. Useful to know and the once a year polish, if needed, seems a sensible approach👍
Got to say, bloody brilliant video. Although its just cost me a fortune at Halfords :)
Bring on the good weather
Thx andy
Another great video Jon. How many pads would I need to do this Jon?
Minimum 1 but 2 or 3 better really m8
Great video Jon!
Great vidoes, gr8 infor and always a responds Is there a cordless polisher you could recommed? Many thanks in advance.
I use xce force rotation da. Free spinning the DeWalt 848x is good
Love these video tutorials John. I agree with putting wax on in circles vs lines - just wondered what viewers' thoughts are about warming up waxes to make application easier. Does it affect the chemistry of the wax and make it less efficient, or is it a benign but effective step for ease of use?
I'm winter it can help soften it a bit
No
