The talent these two great men had was literally off the charts! We miss them both RIP PHIL and GARY!
I saw Lizzy at a small club in Lowell, Ma. back in the early 80's. I was standing about 15 feet from the band. It was absolutely incredible...
Rip PHIL and GARY
Two absolute legends 🇮🇪
Glad I got to attend these two Belfast shows.
I remember hearing Gary playing in his bedroom in East Belfast.
This old VHS needs a DVD release!!!✌🇦🇺
That show is available on DVD, Emerald Aisles, ´84. I have bought it myself, but for some strange reasons the interviews and backstage clips, like this one, are not included, only the show.
Both beautiful people. who burned the candle and were gone too soon.
LOVE THIS CLIP. Gone but NEVER forgotten. x
Ah but to have those days back again! Life was much simpler and more enjoyable back then ♡ Thanks Gary, Thanks Phil, it was a pleasure guys ♡
I remember seeing Thin Lizzie for the first time at a college gig. They were a support band back then. And top of the bill? Ralph McTell. Nobody had heard of Thin Lizzie in those days but we went away mightily impressed. I was a teenager at the time, I'll be 70 this year. Where has the time gone?
I saw them in '81, I was 20, it was a fantastic night.
@@murrayelliot As in, Streets of London Ralph McTell?
I saw them in 79 with Gary Moore on the Black Rose tour. They opened for Nazareth, and it remains to this day one of the greatest shows I have ever seen.
I saw them in 74 at the Winning Post pub in Twickenham....they had just released the Night Life album and were on the London pub circuit. Their Night Life songs were so much heavier in concert. I read later that Phil produced all the subsequent Lizzy albums because of the crap job done on Night Life by rookie producer Ron Nevison. (Was his first album)
LIZZY!
So Freak'n Sad that they are both Gone !!
I Loved them both and seen them many times especially Thin Lizzy !!
Best frontman from the best band of all time, and the best guitar solo player also of all time, brilliant to see this rare video thankyou
I agree. Thin Lizzy should have been a much bigger band on the world stage because quite simply, they were one of the greatest live rock bands ever and their songs were superior to the vast majority of other bands.
The King of The Blues and The King of Rocknroll!
YES !!!!!
He only did a couple of blues records..... it’s totally misleading to refer to him as such. He was a rocker through and through. Remember that Randy Rhoads wasn’t Ozzy s first choice. Gary was
@@alexmayhew8989 I hadn't known about Gary being Ozzy's first choice but Randy was amazing anyway.
TheHumbuckerboy No Doubt that Randy was more than amazing.... unbelievable. Anyone who thinks that Gary couldn’t have made a great Metal record need to go listen to Victims of the Future. That was my introduction to Gary Moore and a fantastic album. His Bluesman persona is never what I think of when I think of Gary
@@alexmayhew8989 I first knew Gary from his debut album 'Back on the Streets' and for his work with Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy and then also Gary's heavy rock/metal era. So I have always thought of him as being a brilliant heavy rock lead guitarist rather than a blues guy.
Phil was no ego, he was just there to enjoy his friend and have fun whit no bumps or ego, he just wanted enjoy and did. thats why he was a legend he was the most humble dude of his time along the legendary Rory Gallegher. both was no ego....
@@jsivna wow would be eternally at ur memmory what a honour and such nice dude. thanks for share.
Love thin Lizzy went to many gigs went to Phil's home London and attended his funeral sad day but incredible memories a much missed band two legends rip
Were you invited to his London home? wow!
Jeez, I was at that gig!
I also got one of his picks, unfortunately I don’t still have it, or at least haven’t seen it for years. It was bloody thick, solid with no flex at all. Phil walked out to Parisienne Walkways and stole the show. I was just a kid, didn’t really appreciate what was happening. Belfast in the mid 80s. Thanks Gary and Phil.
I went both nights, right up at the front on Gary's side....I'm too old to do that now 😂😂😂
Lucky man!!! My mother was a kid when this show happened, so I wouldn't even dream to be born 🤣
The best rip Gary and Phil
Phil and Gary had a ton of respect for each other but they were both leaders who needed to be captains of their own individual ships. Phil said that he regarded Gary as being the best guitarist in the world .
Very cool video. 2 legends that just happen to be Irish! Glad they made each other's accountance. 🍀
Why do Irish people always feel the needs to mention that something or someone is Irish? I don't hear Germans, Spanish or Dutch etc doing the same thing. Is it an inferiority complex?
In a word :Heaven.
Lovely old LP Jr designed for kids and students in the hands of a master.
Wow! I miss those two! Hope they are jamming and having a laugh up there 👆 xx 🥰
The first 3 concerts I went to see as a young man: 1) Gary Moore. 2) Gary Moore. 3) Gary Moore.
@Robert Wilcox A shame you never had the chance to see him, Rob. The first time I saw him was in 1987. He always put on a good show for the fans. He had lots of energy and warmth. The third time I saw him... Jesus... It was the LOUDEST show I have ever seen. It's a miracle my hearing wasn't permanently damaged.
One of my most coveted DVD's...watch that all the time.
Out! in the fields..
God I miss Phil legend !!
What about Gary
Happy birthday Gary and RIP to both kings of rock n roll
Two real friends together now playing godly music too the man himself god. He is so blessed.
I miss them both equally
I MISS THEM !!!
Only Phil and Gary tonight. Only the best
Heroes never die!
My heart..
' oh I could write you paragraphs'...
They were like brothers
Saw lizzy in 1979.. the best band ever
That Much be Amazing To See Thin Lizzy With Gary Moore.
I Sincerely Hope They're Alive Somewhere Away From The Pressure.
They met again in heaven.
The very best
Het beste muzikale duo ooit
I had one of those Les Paul juniors. Good for practise and some gig work. A bit thin through an analogue rig. Might be another beast through an emulator board.
Why did Gary ever leave such an awesome band? I know his own songs were awesome too, I just dont know the story of why he left. They both should still be here now rockin!
Gary simply didn't do drugs, he was fed up with the drug abuse going on in the band and didn't want to see his friends die, Scott Gorham was into heavily into drugs as well....Gary hid in Glenn Hughes house in the States, Phil actually phoned Glenn and Glenn told him he hadn't seen Gary 🤣 Phil was seriously pissed off and angry about Gary walking out....Midge Ure was brought in at short notice to finish the tour.... oddly enough Phil looked after Midge and kept the drugs and dealers away from him.
I actually do think he played with him in this show for one song, Parisienne Walkways you can find it on RUclips live at Belfast 1984 it’s fantastic vocal and bass work by Phil and guitar wizardry with Gary in this gig
One band I never saw was Lizzy. Phyl Lynot ooooozed charisma in spadefulls as a front man.I think my favourite memory of him was with The Greedies when part of Lizzy partnered up with part of The Pistols to create the best Xmas tune ever.Wicked stuff.
Luckily my first gig was Thin Lizzy with John Sykes in the band on the Thunder and Lightning tour in 83 with another great Irish band Mamas Boys as openers.
@@markbrock4427 OK I admit being jealous. The live album I did have but that ain't the same.
@@markbrock4427 Saw that Tour, caught them in Germany, Philo ripped his pants on the opening tune. Motorhead was also on the Bill, with Robo on guitar. Worked my way through 25,000 fans to get to the 2nd row, right in front of Sykes... the stuff Legends are made of...Cheers!
The two greatest
"Too much treble " Lol
They have since teamed up again to play forever......
Ireland's proud sons.
Dos leyendas que descansen en paz
I am just a cowboy, lonesome on the trail...
Magucal moment here ❤🎸❤🎸
👌👌👌
🙏😇🥰
Can I see them jam in a heaven ? for free ?
Not yet
♠️
Both gone, so many going now, world's becoming lonely
Playing live is becoming a lost art it seems......just saying
Phil sounds a lot like Bono, no surprise
0:38 Phil Linut?
If he had looked after himself he couldve been playing the Loup, Ardboe and Clady with Brush Shiels and skid row.
You can really hear Phil's respiratory problems here, sadly
Phil and Jay Leno brothers?
No . But look at young photos of Phil and Prince.
Gay Lemur 😂
