Honest recognition of one of the worlds great acts 👍🏻
Scott is one of the nicest, most genuine musicians I've ever met. When he did a signing at a guitar shop, he sat on the sofa and everybody got a few minutes to sit next to him and chat, get photos, everything. So laid back, no pressure, and nobody minded waiting because the experience was worth it. Didn't even charge, he must have been there all day.
He knows the ridiculous side of the music business, he's a very confident chap & so he should be he can do the business, he's genuine, a quality human being in an industry of scum bags
Top guy Scott. Lizzy and quo together , the dream gig
The combination of Robbo and Scott was brillant have always been a Lizzy fan . Rockin
I had the pleasure of meeting Scott after a show at Hammersmith in 78/79. We were fortunate enough to be given access to the backstage area by a friend who worked for COLAC the bands PA provider. Such a nice guy. Relaxed and of course a wonderful musician. Lizzy and Quo are always close to hand in my music room and together have been part of my life for over 50 years now. Huge respect for you and what you do.
Quo were great, amazing live
Only got to see them live once; it’s a night I’ll never forget!!
Saw both back in the 70’s when we were spoiled for choice with the great bands playing in that decade. As a live band, the mighty Quo were head and shoulders above the rest, Lizzie were great as well, and it was a joy to see AC/DC hit their stride, but no one got near Quo at that time, absolutely no one.
Two of my favourite bands of the seventies , I remember buying The boys are back in town and Rain on single in the hot summer of 76 😎
Two proper old school bands..
The 3 or 4 chord trick has served music well for generations and will continue to do so. You may as well criticise a Michelin-starred chef because their omelettes "only use 3 eggs". Quo will go down in history as one of the great rock n roll bands and that's a fine legacy.
What a nice guy...
Well said mate 👏
He's a classic this guy. I'd like whether or not he was a rockstar. I think the media missed... he's so presentable, articulate and likeable.
Yet those shows like American idol don't even know.
two of my favourite bands that pushed me through my youth.. there were lots of good bands in the 70s, Quo & Lizzy were always on top for me .. they both knew how to handle their fans.. Scott is quite a guy
Quo have my admiration . As a musician that sometimes like to try to get fancy -and all steely dan-ish at times
Its refreshing to hear bands that can somehow get inspired riffs out of the boogie style -takes a lot to make this music sound "simple" -but the truth is its harder to get something great from trimming the excess .
Lizzy are my fav band- but my admiration for the cultural phenomenon of quo is growing all the time
They are the Zz top of UK for sure - the creedence and skynryd too .....they stand with those bands easily
Its all about the music live. Status Quo has got that arena anthem thing going and it just fuckin kills live.
"Who gives a shit if its only 3 chords" very true👌🔥🤣
Quo and Lizzy were great bands 👍🏻
Quo - especially Rick Parfitt - were integral to paul weller's early career.
I saw Status Quo twice. At the Manchester Apollo and Cropredy Festival both here in the U.K. Indoor or outdoor they get the crowd bouncing. ❤✌🤘 U.K.
He’s old now, but my god he was good looking when he was younger.
Nice guy, Scott 👍
Great guy
Status was a great live act
Brilliant
Status quo on pinkpop Netherlands mid seventies. I was there. It was rainy. Everybody dancing in the mud. 😂
awesome......
.
3 chords?-best quote about BB King was"he only ever plays 3 notes-but he plays them better than anyone else".....same with Quo-and honestly,if you want to test your band, try paying some Quo stuff and getting it to sound anything like as good as they do.
Unusual to hear someone within the business using the old "three chords" cliché. I've heard quite diverse music industry figures admire Status Quo, and reject that line for the lazy, uninformed music media rubbish that it is.
I haven't followed them in decades, but I'd say there's at least as much sophistication in some of their (Pye material in particular, for me) output as in anything Thin Lizzie ever did. I've always thought that ostensibly simple tunes like April, Spring ... and Gerdundula (among many) are actually quite complex and unique.
You're 💯% correct
Complete interview?
when I used to see Scott Gorham with lizzy on stage swishing his hair and pulling the knowing faces, I thought he would be a twat off stage but he seems a real nice guy
I remember after this interview we had a good conversation with Scott he is a really nice fellow not to mention a fantastic musician
i think quo used just as many chords as lizzy..!
