What a tragic loss to the music world when Phil died. The same goes for his fellow Irishman, Rory Gallagher. On the stage they both had tremendous energy and presence and both gentle, shy and softly spoken when not playing. Both missed so sorely.

They performed live together for a couple of songs at a festival at the Punchestown Racecourse in 1982 also with Paul Brady, another incredible Irish musician. Sadly there is no footage of it on RUclips but there are some audio recordings of it.

Unfortunately and wrongly the RRHOF is based on record sales, it should be based on influence to the genre. It's all capitalism baby. RRHOF is ironically not in the least Rock and Roll, it's a party for music execs to have the egos massaged and to command the biggest names in rock and roll as their personal entertainment. All fans have their own list of top 100 bands in the world and each list there in is more important than the entire history of the RRHOF.

He loved his country , loved people but for some reason he was unhappy . Although he tried to hide it, there was sadness in his eyes , sadness in his voice . On stage , he was happy to see his fans .
