You hear him talking about Ireland at the end, he DID loved Dublin, but the drugs took such a hold on him, that he once said "that he doesn't love Dublin anymore", and hence the song "Old Town" reflects his love letter to Dublin!

I had a college roommate that used to say the same thing - but he was wrong. the song Bat out of hell is loud and heavy with wailing guitars and screaming lyrics. In 1980 pop rock I think would have been stuff like the monkees, turtles, early beatles and stones. I like and listen to floyd, zepplin, deep purple, vanilla fudge, etc and I never found any of them Heavier than Meat and none of the vocals screamed more powerful than Meat. Are there heavier bands now ? Sure, but when this was filmed Metallica were 10 year old kids.

@@petermcallister8489 Pete I think its hard for people that weren't around in78 to understand. But trust me in 1978 pop rock was stuff like 60s music like Herman's Hermits, Beach Boys, etc or Disco like BeeGees or soft rock like Seals and Crofts. Bat and Journey in 78 were very heavy, high powered vocals and screaming guitars. in the late 70s and early 80s what would you consider heavy rock ? Please don't list 90s metal bands (they weren't on the scene at the time of this video) and if you list Pink Floyd I would counter that, although good music, they had a heavy organ feel like roller rink music and their most famous song had kids voices. I bring that up because my college friend that didn't consider meat heavy enough loved Floyd. Probably the biggest test for Pop music vs other forms in the late 70s, is that no pop radio station would ever play a song that was more than 4 minutes long.

@@instructionaldesigner7310 Journey are hard rock band and some there Perry era recordings were bordering on heavy metal. They were definitely heavier in their first three albums, in fact they were proto prog metal. But this side of the Atlantic, Meatloaf were considered pop rock even then. So I have a different understanding to you of Meatloaf's musical classification. And it's Peter, not Pete.
