    I Love the Topicals Faded Im on my 2nd tube its Really helped with my pigmentation, I also have the Beauty of Joseon glow deep serum but its in my skincare cabinet I haven't tried it yet but Im excited to see if it helps. Great video, I appreciate that you don't do sponsored content, I'm sure it gets Very Pricey for you but that's one of the reasons I love your channel and trust your opinions. I watch a few others but feel like the bigger they get the more sponsored content they do and it starts to make me wonder if that's the reason they are Always raving about certain products, but I never worry about that with your channel ❤

      Have you tried the deep glow serum yet? It's in my Amazon cart and idk if I should pull the trigger and purchase. I have super duper sensitive skin leaning more on the dry side.

    I really enjoy the texture of The Ordinary's alpha arbutin, works well with other products. But I've been leaning into azelaic acid products more than alpha arbutin. My go-to azelaic is Paula's choice with salicylic acid, I wish it was more reasonably priced. I haven't gotten around to trying geek and gorgeous yet but I really need to! I also recently got prescription strength azelaic acid but I've been patch testing it on my arm because I was warned so many times about the possibility of bleaching! I appreciate having the prescription strength but I'm super drawn to trying new products with more elegant formulations. It's so hard to settle on one product, feels like I have ADD for skincare products. Want to try them all!

    Regimen lab’s level serum is what I consider as efficacious as Hydroquinone in terms of fading hyperpigmentation

  • @anonymous6594
    @anonymous6594 2 года назад +3

    I read that 20% azelaic acid maybe just as effective as 4% hydroquinone for hyperpigmentation.

    Hi Sarah surprisingly I tolerate alpha arbutin really well and used one from the Inkey List without issue. I didn't really see any benefit though tbh. I tolerated the ordinary one from a sensitivity viewpoint fine, but OMG it turned my pure white Scottish skin ORANGE aka like the worst self tan colour you have ever seen (look up the old UK adverts for the tango soft drink online - the orange man and me looked very similar lol - the catchphrase is I look like I had been tangoed). No no no not for me and I threw it away as it was so bad. I use 15% azelaic acid, retinaldehyde, niacinamide, licorice and targeted application of tranexamic acid (Me+ tranexamic acid from Superdrug - tolerate fine as a targeted treatment, but too irritating used over the whole face). Whilst pigment isn't my over riding concern (redness is), I do have hyperpigmentation in the form of freckles (that pale white Scottish/Celtic skin lol and strawberry blonde hair) that I would like to fade back to how they were when I was young. What I do use has helped significantly over the last few years, but I think I'm currently dealing with some sun damage from inefficient spf protection a couple of years ago (aka the scandal). Sun damage can take as much as a decade to show on the skin depending on the depth of it and I seem to have a bit more this Winter than I had last Winter (despite using ultrasun all Summer).
    I recently tried the good molecules niacinamide toner and surprisingly my skin didn't freak out, so I might pop that on order to add into my morning routine.
    Just to update you on the K beauty items I ordered (arrived xmas eve which was more than three weeks from ordering) including the water bomb toner plus the Mary and may items as follows:
    Water bomb toner - initially very hydrating, but my skin just doesn't respond that well to all the HA in it and it becomes kind of dehydrating as the day unfolds. It's ok but not a repurchase.
    Mary and May centella serum - nice, inoffensive and a bit hydrating, but truthfully just a bit meh overall. Unfortunately not a repurchase either.
    Mary and May ubiquinone and blackberry moisturiser - it's not occlusive enough or really all that moisturising on me tbh. I'm using it as a thick serum under another moisturiser, as it does have a nice INCI list with some nice antioxidants.
    BofJ rice spf (the new one) - makes my face itch a little if worn too many days in a row, or too long a day. It's ok, but not a repurchase either.
    Overall none of them were a disaster, but none were a major hit either. My skin is severely dry and parched. Nothing apart from actual ointments or thick oils feel greasy on my skin. I can wear many balms during the day. The cosrx snail cream was nowhere near enough for me either and was barely enough for daytime in the Summer months - my skin drank it in within 5 minutes and felt dry again within the hour. I don't just have skin that feels a bit dry - it is totally parched and feels like it could crack when I smile some days. Other days it's very irritated - in a similar way to how your neck seems to be. The difference between the skin on your face and neck, is probably the difference between your face skin and mine lol. I need oil in my skincare and something really occlusive to hold everything in even during the day. I'm using the LRP cicaplast over the Mary and May and under spf (Scottish Winter and central heating). Best wishes.
    ps loving the Niod MG and just opened my 2nd bottle. The first lasted around 7 weeks used twice daily. I will repurchase that one lol.

      OMG- no one wants to have orange skin!! That sounds slightly traumatizing! I remember the first generation of self tanning products and they were always orange and had just a terrible smell that made me never want to use them again. Today's tanning products are so much better than what I desperately tried to use. Sad to hear you didn't have any new hit products. Gotta try them, but maybe you'll end up liking them more as you use them?! Fingers crossed, it happens once in a while for me. I wonder which ingredient in the BOJ sunscreen might be making your skin itchy, or if it is just the combination of ingredients?

      @lorainemcgillivray77 2 года назад +1

      @@NOBSBeauty I don't know which ingredient it is tbh, but many chemical spf's do this to me. I do tolerate mineral spf better and fortunately being so pale white cast isn't too much of an issue for me. As to the others none of them are bad, they're just not as good as I had hoped. However I'm making them work, so it's not a complete disaster. x

    I use the Ordinary Arbutin after vitamin c in the morning. Not sure if it's doing anything, helping vitamin c etc. but I see a positive difference in my skin since I started using vitamin c (I use Vichy liftactive peptide c ampoules). I actually prefer The Ordinary Pycnogenol, it has a rich texture which I really like now in winter.

    TO's Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA has been very helpful for my melasma and hyperpigmentation. The Glow Deep Serum is on the way. Really want to get the Topicals Faded, however, I usually use Arbutin as my first serum, where would the Faded cream go in a routine?

  • @eap7mm
    @eap7mm 2 года назад +1

    My favorite arbutin product isn't on the list!
    Have you tried Hada Labo Shirojyun lotion? It has alpha arbutin and it's my staple first step in my routine. It was also my first dip into the ingredient and it's helped my acne rosacea.
    I've heard that Japan is banning the ingredient because it does turn into hydroquinone, something that does concern me, but apparently it doesn't have the risk factors of hydroquinone. I think my next purchase will very likely be the Topicals Faded, I've also been looking into Pycnogenol.

    I just got an order in from Good Molecules, one of which being their Daily Brightening Serum. It has beta arbutin. I’ll have to let you know how it is if you haven’t already tried it. Idk if you’ve read my comment about the Curology. If you want I can order one for you to try. You would probably have to dilute it a bit with moisturizer, etc. Love your background!

    You know, I tried TO one to fade a light sun spot on my forearm & it did absolutely nothing, while consistent use of Tret faded it significantly. If it’s in a discoloration serum along with other more effective ingredients like Tranexamic Acid then I wouldn’t object, but to me, doesn’t seem to be something I’d seek out.

    Great video! I have melasma but not age spots/sun spots. I use both of the ordinary products, the ascorbic acid 8%/arbutin and the alpha arbutin in ha, mainly because they are so affordable and effective. I use the c in the am and the ha in the pm routine. I also use adapalene and the cos de baha niacinamide toner. Between all of these, it keeps my melasma away. I haven't needed to try any other products, but the dearskin tranex works very well after 2 months except my skin my skin stayed irritated by it

    I need to try the Topicals. It seems like it might be good for dry skin? Chemical peels had gotten rid of most of my hyperpigmentation but now it’s coming back 😭 Hydroquinone tends to works well for me but also dries out my skin so I think I’ll try the Topicals and see how it goes! It seems like everyone I know, or know of, that have melasma seem to gravitate towards Azelaic Acid, whereas it's okay for me. My 2 top brightening/dark spot minimizing ingredients are hydroquinone (because of course) and Kojic Acid. A good 10-ish years ago, when I was trying to get rid of pih, I found a Kojic Acid soap, and it did wonders for my skin. I've loved anything with Kojic Acid since. I've never really given Arbutin a fair shot, though, so I'm definitely going to be trying a few of these. I didn't know Good Molecules had that product in their lineup, though (I recently started using their discoloration serum that has tranexamic acid, another brightening fave ingredient of mine).

    • @NOBSBeauty
      @NOBSBeauty  2 года назад +1

      I'm surprised it took me so long to fall in love with Azelaic Acid- it's become a favorite ingredient of mine for so many reasons! Kojic Acid is always a good one, hydroquiinone also helped my melasma so much, I'm so happy I got to try it before it became prescription only.

    • @JessieDubois8
      @JessieDubois8 2 года назад

      @@NOBSBeauty ugh, don't get me started on hydroquinone no longer being available otc. I found out they were taken off the shelves JUST as my differen HQ serum ran out lol. I had to grab whatever HQ products were left, so I got stuck with Ambi's, which I still have half a tube left (while it's fine, the smell bothers me). I'm gonna have to get a prescription soon, I'm sure. I don't envy y'all with melasma. I think it reappearing as soon as I tamed it would frustrate the heck out of me.

    U didn't put the Tiam alpha arbutin powder in their I find it really good to mi with a toner I used that one alot and I have seen noticable difference I think you said you had that one but not sure. Also the hado labor arbutin is pretty nice.

Peppermint shouldn’t be applied to the face I don’t even really apply it to my body for fear of irritation so it makes no sense to me why skin care companies put these things in their products that are so irritating specially when it sounds like such a great formula with great ingredients so disappointing!

      I'm so with you about the peppermint, I believe peppermint was one of the ingredients that led to my hyperpigmentation.
