Girl are we twins? I had both my babies naturally. My second baby, I looked like I was sleeping too. I literally don't move during labor- I find a comfortable position and stay there 100% relaxed. Doing so I had my second baby in 2 hrs! I love laboring this way, it's incredible!!!

I love hearing birth stories that don’t horrify new moms! When I was pregnant with my first, every woman that shared their birth experiences with me made sure to instill the fear. I attribute the tough labor I had with my first child (72 hrs) to giving in to this tension and fear. Birth can be traumatic for some moms/babies but it can also be one of the most amazing and empowering moments in a woman’s life. It’s necessary for other birthing women to hear the positivity surrounding child-bearing. Thank you for sharing!

I didn't know anyone was still using Bradley! I'm 60 years old and we used The Bradley Method with all three of my children (now aged 28, 30, 32). They were good, natural experiences, with so much educated control.

I can testify that this method works! I didn't know it had a name, but this is exactly what I did because I was lucky enough to meet a kind, middle aged woman who saw the fear in my eyes, and said "Its just a strong menstrual cramp. Just relax and don't tense up and it won't hurt any more than that." I wish i could thank her. That calmed me down so well! and she was right! The only thing I've learned since then is that this method plus hot tubs work just as well as an epidural!! Just laughing and hanging out until it was time to push. I wish I could have given birth in the tub, but my baby was too big. :(

Wow thats amazing and so true! The fear and tension cause waay more pain than necessary.

Thank you for sharing your birth story. Please know that for me, your story served as more than just a story, it directly impacted my birth in such a positive way for my most recent birth (#7). Backstory: I’ve had hospital-induced births, and homebirths with fear and tension. Fast forward to February 29, 2020: it was the night after my “due date”, I had just recovered from some viral cold. I was preparing for bed, but I felt anxious with so much on my mind. I remember, the thought about any labor/birth plans for our upcoming birth would immediately tense up on my chest. I was aware that I needed to get rid of my fears or else I’d have another tense labor. I gave RUclips one last try: it was now Midnight of March 1st. I found your video, and was left in awe after I listened to the part where you were in bed, motionless. And your Midwife couldn’t determine if you were in labor (based on how still you were). After your video, I showered. Then I noticed that I was able to forcefully push fluid without the sensation of urinating. Thankfully I had a test strip (provided by our Midwife) and determined that the fluid was amniotic. I went to bed, woke up shortly before 5am with cramps. After timing them, I called my midwife and confirmed that my contractions were about 6 minutes apart, 30-40 seconds long. Surprisingly, I was calm! I woke the Hubby, he began to prepare the birth tub and everything else. I called my sisters (they were going to help with our 6 kids). Then immediately afterwards, I went back to bed. I was DETERMINED to follow what you did (though I had zero idea of what the Bradley method consisted of). I covered myself with my favorite comforter, played a rain sound on my iPad, and closed my eyes. Through each contraction, I maintained my eyes closed and took slow deep breaths through the end of each contraction. I realized that I went into a deeper, relaxed and more confident space after my Midwife arrived and asked me if I was still in labor (because I was so calm and quiet!!!) 🙌🏽 I kept your words, your story in my thoughts. Eventually I decided to go to the tub because I really wasn’t experiencing the “pain” that I’ve experienced in previous births. #denial. Well, I continued to maintain my calmness, my breathing, my eyes closed. Followed by smiles and laughter between contractions. I had my Husband and some of my sisters present (first time to have family IN the birth space). Baby was born at 10:02 am. There was a slight complication at the moment of birth (the cord and shoulder), but despite that, I lost ALL FEAR and GAINED MY POWER. Never have I had such a pleasant, low “pain” birth. Thank you for sharing your story.

Absolutely love birth stories. I also used the Bradley method in 83, 86, 88, and 90. I did birth in the hospital and now wish I had been at home. The births were totally manageable even my last one with baby boy weighing 12 lb 1 1/2 oz.

Love this birth story so much. I watched it to mentally prepare for my first. We also prepared using the Bradley Method, and funnily enough (like you) I ended up just wanting to labor mostly alone in the dark. All that husband-coaching, massages, guided relaxation my husband had prepared for, haha we didn’t use. He supported me best by being near and by trusting me. It ended up being a fast labor and a great birth experience. Now I’m pregnant again, and find myself revisiting your video for more positivity and inspiration. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your story

My mother (God bless her) gave me the book "Childbirth Without Fear" by Dr. Grantley Dick-Read when I was a teenager back in the 1950's. (I'm 82 years young now) I read it and it served me well. I haven't heard that book mentioned in a very long time! Bless you for helping so many Mamas and future Mamas.

I had a really hard labor with my first. Almost 24 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing. I felt my body wasn’t ready but in the hospital they didn’t really give me choice. Hopeful next time will go better. Praying for our rainbow baby. I lost my second one last June at 14 weeks. I’ve really enjoyed watching your channel!

I had a similar labor with my 3rd. By the time I was telling the doula to get the mw, she kept saying it's too early and I'm not ready. Eventually my husband got the midwive and before the bath was even close to being ready, within 2 contractions my baby girl was born. Our bodies are sooo amazing!

Didn‘t know about the Bradley method, but that’s exactly what I instinctively did during my 2 natural births. Relaxing and breathing trough contractions and resting in between is totally the way to go, it makes it feel less like torture and more like an intense workout. But i do agree, transition sucks.

I’m taking the Bradley Method course. We are also reading the book, I highly recommend it! As a FTM, I’ve been learning how to relax and exercises to help relax my pelvic floor. Listening to stories like yours give me hope that I can do this. I’m not having a home birth, it will be a hospital birth, but I’m still looking forward to putting everything I’ve been learning into practice!

What a wonderful birth story. I was watching older RUclips videos you r posted and never realized you had a home birth. I love that you share such a wide variety. I recently had a home birth for our little girl (9 mo.). It was such an amazing experience. I also had both of our sons natural in hospital with midwives. The whole birthing process is a beautiful process. I commend you for being able to relax and stay so still! I’m one who generally swayed back and forth or used a birth pool. I encourage anyone who is considering a natural or home birth to go for it. Our bodies are stronger than we think. Thank you for sharing!

So precious! the history of her being late made me laugh , not something you want to be late for. I used that method but I found it better to be in the birth pool with the lights off, it calmed me so much. My whole birth video was dark too because of that reason. I went from calm to the baby crowning and out in 3 pushes. crazy how fast it goes. I loved hearing about your labor and cant wait to see the blog and pics.

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered the books you mentioned. I am due in three months and really haven't prepared much for this baby. My last pregnancy was twins, I was dilated 6cm without pain, went to my 38wk appointment and decided to go ahead and get induced -Pitocin and epidural. So, no pain during delivery, but lots of pain afterward, with swelling and stitches. I am looking forward to a less dramatic recovery (hopefully) and a more natural labor experience which was what I initially wanted with my first pregnancy. ---I love your channel, wish you the best -blessings!

Beautiful story! I had a completely unmedicated hospital birth with my daughter and would love to have a home birth with my next baby. I had a wonderful experience with the Bradley Method too and was able to have a quick and easy natural birth myself (which I feel like I wouldn't have been able to do without the Bradley Method and my doula) and am always so excited to hear about how it has helped others, since it's really hard to find anyone else who has had the same experiences and knows of the benefits of this method. Did the same with #11. Was only 2&1/2 hour labor lol kids were watching a movie in the next year and didn't believe my husband when she was born. Unfortunately I was pressured to have a hospital birth with #12 and he was the longest hardest labor, I think I just didn't want to be there and my body was fighting it till he couldn't stay in anymore.

I didn't study the Bradley method, but I knew about it, and during my labors I tried to relax and just let my body do its thing. For my first birth, we got to the hospital, but the midwife barely arrived in time! For our second, we had a homebirth, and labor was so quick and manageable that the baby arrived before the midwife did! I caught her myself and it was an incredible experience.

I couldn't relax at all for the last hour of my homebirth, and it probably would have helped if I had known it wasn't going to take 24 hours like my induction (it was probably just transition + pushing). I'd still like to try it again because everything else about having the baby at home was so relaxing that it is totally worth it.

We did the Bradley method with my first two (and am expecting another this month). We did water births though. My first at the birth center the second at home. And this little one we’re planning at home as well.
Relaxing through the birth really helps. Actually taught me to deal with all pain better. I used to get them more frequently, but I often get migraines. They were debilitating, and now when I relax through them just like labor, they aren’t nearly as painful at all! And often by the latter part of the day I can be mildly up and about. Normally I’d be completely worthless all day.
    So there’s other benefits too.
I love this video of an older birth (black and white) of a French woman and an “ecstatic birth”. Careful looking that up as some are odd and “orgasmic” but hers is so calm, and joyous. That’s the birth I’m going to have this time. Relaxing, natural, and joyful.
    Thanks for the video!

Oh this makes me want to tear up. I want so badly to have an experience like this. I’m currently pregnant with our “surprise” 3rd. It’s been 10 years since I gave birth to my second child and he was 10.2 lbs, I’m petite like you. I delivered him vaginally with some complications but overall a healthy strapping boy. My first child was 6.5 lbs. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and I’m also 39. So for sure I can’t have a home delivery or can use a midwife. But your video is encouraging me to go at this naturally without an epidural. This next baby is a girl and I’m hoping she’s closer to 6 lbs than 10 😬. Thank you again for your beautiful videos, always so encouraging and wonderful!

I'm definitely doing a home birth. The only birth related fear I have is dealing with hospitals. At c-section rate of 32-33%, and World Health Organization stating that at least 75% of those major abdominal surgeries are _not_ necessary, I don't see why I'd subject myself and my child to a 33% chance of unneeded drugs and surgical interventions from the medical business that's very, very skilled at manipulating birthing mothers in their most vulnerable moments. While surgeries save lives, the system is too broken to blindly trust it.

I've had 3 home births, 2 of them were breech and all born perfectly and safely! At the hospital, the breechlings would have meant automatic c-sections.

    • @SeaSaltPop
      @SeaSaltPop 4 года назад

My midwife literally went that direction with her practice because she witnessed doctors schedule c sections because of their vacations and even a hot date once. I’m sure it’s not all doctors but it’s not worth the risk to me.

I had planned for my last to be at home but labor just felt weird and _very_ off. Something told me to go right away and I'm glad I listened to my instincts because I had a placental abruption. Emergency C-section. But that was baby number eight and I was having significant health issues by then. Otherwise, no way would I go!

I used the Bradley method for my first child as well, though it was a (still natural and Unmedicated) hospital birth. My labor lasted 24 hours and 1 minute. I was so exhausted. Haha! But I did manage the pain very well until transition, like you.
With my second, it happened so dang fast that I couldn’t get myself relaxed. She came fast and furious, again unmedicated in the hospital.
By the third I decided to have a home birth. It was the most serene, pain free birth. Unfortunately we had complications and I ended up with a c section but I totally wish I had done the first two at home. It was amazing.

Wow this sounds like the birth of my 5th baby! I convinced myself I wasn’t in labor because I was only 36 weeks 3 days. Contractions kept coming. My midwife was 30 minutes away. When she got to my house, she checked me, I was already 8 cm, I needed confirmation that it was actually labor, and my baby was born in our bathtub an hour later! Despite being “early”, he was the same size of his other brother born at 39 weeks! The previous home birth my midwife didn’t make it in time because the baby came so fast! I labor faster when I’m standing or trying to move around as well, so I’m better staying in bed or the bathtub.
