"Licensed by Floyd Rose" Trem Tuning Instability

  • My cheap Chinese "licensed by Floyd Rose" tremolo returns flat after arm down--like my Floyd Rose Special (made in Korea) did. This is my video trouble shooting the problem. Basically, my problem was that the studs that came with the cheap copy had too loose of a tolerance allowing the studs to move around.
    In the previous video, I used "Floyd Rose 1000" studs to cure the problem. This time I tried the "All Parts Studs" to try to cure the problem. The All Parts helped a bit, but still needed the help of teflon tape to completely cure.
    So, you need 1.) studs that fit tightly and 2.) teflon tape may help just a little bit in addressing this issue.
    The trem unit you see here is a "licensed by Floyd Rose" with a "Floyd Rose Special" base plate (left over from my first video). Changing the base plate (and thus the knife edge) made no difference to the instability. I believe this instability comes down to how stable the studs are in the thread.
