- Join me in the workshop while I repair a guitar with a torn out threaded insert of a floating guitar bridge.
This repair was much easier than I expected it to be.

Always waiting for the next video from the best luthier on RUclips, IMO, always good advices and excellent music selection…Nice to see you vary on the content…You are very humble too, congratulations…
Most interesting of the dozens I have binged lately
Hi Dawn PSY,
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Well done on the repair mate. Simple, easy, and effective. Its nice to see things like this as a starting luthier so we learn what works and what does not during a build.
Thanks Daniel for this video. Always good to see a real craftsman at work!
Excellent addition to your build vids. Enjoy and learn from every one. Many thanks. Paul.Uk
Great job Daniel!
Thanks! It helped a lot for my old 1988 electric Norman GL.
I have had to do this fix myself. I've found that glue and some reinforcement usually works. Sometimes the dowel is the best choice. Great video.
I am trying to save up the $ to purchase one of your awesome guitars. They are incredible pieces of art!
Q and A- Do you make guitars spec to order? Like woods, hardware etc. ?
By the way... Love your videos! I learn sooo much from them. Please keep making them!!
Hi Lance,
Thank you very much!
always nice to get a notification from your videos.
Cool Work Dany!!!
Useful example of a fix
Thanks dude! I enjoyed this video.
Nice one Daniel
Great video!!
This is exactly the problem I have with my Squire Strat. It cracked out the exact same way and I will do the repair exactly as you have done it.
Awesome video and channel, subscribing immediately!!!
Bro thank you very much for this!!!!!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Very well. I subscribed. Cheers.
Nice! Subscribed 🇨🇦
Hey Daniel, I'm only new to your channel but thankful I found you via the GGBoff 2021... I really enjoyed your guitar build indeed!
I'm no guitar repair guy but I'm surprised you didn't mix any red stain with the super glue in order to hide those two cracks a little better? I guess they can only be seen when you really look for them anyway but your eye for detail is so great I was expecting some secret technique to come out on that one. Lol! ...of course, thank you for another great video - I'm certainly not disappointed at all, I love you work man!!
Cheers and respect from Australia.
Hi turbo tunna,
Thank you very much.
I had the intention to use red stain before applying the CA glue, but sometimes I get distracted by making these videos. Besides doing the repair or any other work I'm also checking the camera, mic, lighting and setting up the shots. I realized I forgot it after polishing the guitar. Like you said you can hardly see the cracks anyways so I decided to keep it as is.
Not only a guitar builder, but now a full fledged luthier repairing guitars too. Very nice!
One thing I've been wondering... Have you ever worked on or ever considered doing stainless steel frets?
Hey there! Nice video. My stratocaster's studs pop-up when adjusting the springs/strings. Should I glue them or do them need to be carved again as to get the studs tighter into place?
I'll appreciate any suggestion.
Keep it up!
Question: When drilling for the bridge studs on guitars, what size drill bit is best ? I'm interested in 10mm studs. Thank you
When you replaced a tremolo, for example, replacing a FR1000 for a Schaller Lockmeister, do i have to put dowels in the holes and drill new ones to install the new studs, or is not necessary and i can use the same holes? i'm supposing the studs have the same measures.
Sir I had brocken the stud head of Ibanez GRG 150dx...can you suggest which mm should I order... 8mm Or 7.5 or any other
What kind of glue should be used on a threaded insert?
Apologies if I missed it in the video, but any idea what this repair might cost if I go to a luthier?
I had the exact same problem.. I used JB Weld. I glued both the wood and the metal post back in using JB Weld. I wasn't sure if it would work.. 3 years later... Its still holding strong! I haven't seen many people use JB weld on a guitar.. I use my trem bar all the time too, which puts pressure on the post. All I can say is JB weld worked for me!
🔥
I dropped my guitar and the post had popped out a little bit. No cracks. Can I just push it back in or do I need to put some glue in there?
Good video, missing only the color paint repair job, so the cracks would be invisible. Studd issue occured on my kh603 and as bonus the floyd base chipped a bit of food from the top as well... Annoying a bit...
What kind of black paint do you use for your pickup cavity and electronic cavity?
Hi Lance,
I use shielding paint from TLC Guitar Goods.
Q&A Your GGBO2021 instrument is a work of art. If someone were to order a similar guitar from you, what would an approximate price be?
U can use some nail paint to hide the crack
Why does it happen? I think because some people remove the strings than the bridge forces the studs outside. If the tremolo is perfectly balanced it will not cause any tension to the wood I think.
Hello, my new American standard Stratocaster 2015 with two pivot screws bridge seems to have the bridge no parallel to the body..the shop put 10 high E gauge string and before it was 9. Now the treble side seems to be lower and in fact the sound of e b g is not beautiful( I had also a little G buzz solved with loosing truss-rod and getting higher saddle). IM scared; till now my classic vibe 50 squier Stratocaster sounds and plays better with more sparkle in 2 e 4 positions , and here in Italy costs 400 euro instead of American standard is 1600 euro. The American strat has the fat hot 50 pickup and they are very hot and powerful and the fender specs of pick up height should be change for them( not 2.4 mm bass and 2mm treble..but it needs to definitely lower the height ).this being said , according to you , should I work on the 2 lateral pivot screws to put the bridge parallel and should I raise a bit the bridge screw or should I work with springs opening the back of the guitar? Thanks
Here's a question for Q&A: On average, how many guitars do you build per year and do you have plans to expand and scale up production or would that diminish the craftsmanship?
Not a direct comment to the repair. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on your pillar drill? Is it sufficient/precise enough for luthier work?
Thx and keep up the good work
Hi M. Heck,
I intend to cover my pillar drill in an upcoming video, so please keep an eye out for that one.
This is exactly what my luthier did to fix this problem on my guitar but after some time problem repeated. On both srews. Maybe because guitar have 7 strings so I gave up on my trem. 😢
How much would u charge to fix something like this?
Wow a Starfield(Ibanez spin-off) you don’t see them much anymore! I’ve owned a couple in the past! If you don’t like a thin neck then these are probably not for you! Why didn’t you add just a little red to the crack? It would’ve been a little less obvious than the breakout?
Hi Kirk,
Good questions.
To be honest I intended to use a bit of red stain or dye but sometimes I'm distracted by making these videos so I forgot. I realized this as soon as I applied the CA glue but by then it was to late. Luckily you can barely see the cracks under the bridge and pickup ring.
Excellent job. Unfortunately those type of problems tend to reoccur. I have done the same thing many times. Sometimes to the same guitar. The best solution I have found is those stud straps. The studs are pressed into a metal strip. Which is screwed down to the guitar with wood screws between the studs
Could you go more into detail? Your solution sounds solid
