    Any top load bridge must be fastened with metal fasteners through the soundboard. That’s why most manufacturers use bridge pins which use the strength of the sound board with an additional plate underneath. Ovation got real sloppy with quality after it was acquired by other companies.

    Moral of the story: change the studs first. But great video - I have had tuning stability issues with my FR equipped Strat. The posts are the likely culprit, as the guitar is over 30 years old and has been well played. It has the FR Original tremolo.

      I used the universal Autel TPMS. It doesn’t work perfectly on Gen2 Prius-supposedly Prius TPMS are finicky. The TPMS light will always come back on when the vehicle is parked. Once you run the vehicle for a minute or so, the TPMS light will go off-but it is annoying. Looking at TechStream data, I typically see 2 of the 4 tire read very low pressure even if it’s fully inflated. Saw a RUclips video by a mechanic stating these Prius’s TPMS is finicky. If was to do this over, I would get the Autel scanner that can program the TPMS module (5xx?) and get a non-programmable TPMS for these Prius.

      @jtmcreations2960 5 месяцев назад

      Not really, I just put the air in the tire and the bead seated. It’s been a while so I don’t really remember, but the bead breaker I used was the best suited for my needs. I think there were options depending on the size of the rim or something…I remember paying a premium to get the one that had a wider application to cover the range of vehicles I have.

    Take out two of those springs, move the claw forward and bring the outside springs in one space at the claw. You have them extremely close to the body. Then wrap the mounting studs with teflon tape so they dont wobble. Use lubricant like nut sauce on any move pieces.

    The bridge just started pulling up on my 1866 Legend 12 string. I'm on here trying to research how to remove it. So far every video starts with the bridge removed. Do you gently heat the area to loosen the glue? Thanks!

    • @jtmcreations2960
      @jtmcreations2960 8 месяцев назад

      It’s been a while so I don’t remember exactly, but I treated it just like any other bridge removal. You need to first score the finish around the bridge with an xacto knife so you have a clean cut line so the finish around the bridge doesn’t come off. Then depending on what tool you have, you need something to heat the bridge piece. I made a cardboard mask to fit around the bridge so the top won’t get too hot and used my heat gun. Then I used a artists palette knife (stiff thin metal with handle) to cut the glue between the top and the bridge. I find it to be most effective to heat up the knife with the heat gun to soften the glue. If you force this too much, you may be gouging the top wood, so need to be patient but a bit forceful and gentle to remove the bridge. There’s gotta be a bunch of RUclipss for bridge removal, so check them out. I’m sure twoofrd has a video on bridge removal.

    • @1000BrokenKeys
      @1000BrokenKeys 8 месяцев назад

      believe or not, loosening the strings before adjusting the trem's post hight is unnecessary and I'd advise against it. I've been FR player and own fixer upper for decades and slight deviation from the pitch when using the bar is normal although the proper stuff works better of course . Hardness of posts and solid seating of bushings is no1 priority. The FR specials and 1000's have thicker plating that needs worn off to get onto the hard edge. I found when loosening the strings and tightening them back up it causes the trem to pop/click into natural centred position and although the sound of it sounds ominous it never damaged my many floyds either (when changing strings). To prevent the hard pop, the springs would need loosening as well, and after adjusting the post's hight then do gradual tightening of strings and springs and that just takes for ever as you may need to do this several times before you get it where you want and really this extend of carefulness is not necessary at all.

      @@1000BrokenKeysgood points. Have been a floyd user for more than 25 years now. None of them have failed me yet. Though one black german floyd from mid 80s showed sign of slight wear so i sharpened it a bit and changed to new german post. My floyd 1000 also showed a bit but not much. Could have been just the finish but i sharpned it nonetheless. Another chrome german floyd i bought in 2008 and yet when i inspected it 4 years ago, beleive it or not, the knife was sharp i didnt have to do anything other than the usual finish chip on the knife point. That same floyd still comes back to perfect tune after 15 yea of abuse. Thanks to my method of always loosen flopp the strings and leaving only 1 spring on the back so i can yank the bridge while adjusting the post. It takes a bit of time but it save you from having tuning issues along the line. Rhen again i have lots of time so i have time to be patient.

    The issue here is having to retap the bridge bushing holes and have the correct bushings for the upgraded 1000 series Screw posts and bushings.A lot of the tuning stability comes to how well the bushings are anchored with the body.finding myself in this position on a $400 guitar so the Floyd rose action be lowered for maximum playability.

    I find incredible that this manufacturing lack of precision and materials is what makes the difference from a cheap floyd from an expensive one. As a mechanical engineer this is for me stuff that should be even considered when fabricating these pieces of equipment....i mean the material costs how much could be for a small amount of metal.... 2 bucks? these are not titanium, we talk of not so fancy alloys. Manufacturing could be a different story tough. Thanks for posting!

    I am working on a Silvertone H710, (sunburst), and it has the identical head stock logo. Inside I found a very faint stamp that says feb 53. I removed the top and neck which was coming loose anyway. The neck block is cracked in two right at the dovetail, and the side fractured. Someone filled epoxy in there, (wrong of course), and now prevents it from meeting back up. I strongly suspect the grain is going the wrong direction on the neck block. I am thinking of removing the neck block and putting in new instead of just gluing it back together. What is your thoughts of making it a bolt on neck instead? I realize that automatically means I have to make a mold and remove the back, because I would have to re-install the top and get the neck angle right before putting the back on. Like you, I am going to have to put in a truss rod as well.

    • @jtmcreations2960
      @jtmcreations2960 Год назад

      I make all my acoustics as bolt-on so I like bolt-ons. But with an f-hole you have no access to the bolt once the back is on. The neck angle probably will change when you put the back on, so getting the neck angle correct sounds tricky. That brown glue they used was pretty easy to slice thru, so if I was you, I’d probably go the route of replacing the neck block, or somehow route out the epoxy and see if you can repair/reinforce the neck block. I guess I’d try to repair the neck block first and if that fails, replace it.

    • @jtmcreations2960
      @jtmcreations2960 Год назад

      Thinking more about your situation, epoxy is stronger than wood glue which is stronger than wood. Can’t you just add more shims to the dovetail and get it stable?

      Sounds like a good idea. As I am lazy, I’d probably skip the part about routing it and just glue like a 1/4” piece of maple or rosewood cross grain on the tail block side of the neck block and call it a day-but I haven’t seen the crack so I don’t know if that’ll work. Maybe I’d also put in a bolt sideways so the dovetail won’t spread out too. Good luck!

      I believe all Floyd Rose and licensed Floyd Rose should use the same size/thread bolt-others who know can correct me on this. Worst case, you may have to change out the female part to use the new bolts. The thought here is that the studs from a more expensive unit will have better tolerance and thus have a tighter fit.

    Mang same story with me. Don’t buy spark plugs from Amazon or Ebay…I repeat! Don’t buy these junks off of Amazon or Ebay! Bought some Ebay for my 07 MDX and thought I had a deal at $36 for 6. My MDX started to developed a random stutter after 25k. I drove it for months and decided to look into it. It was showing a p0302 misfire on cylinder 2. I Switched the coil pack to fuel injector to no progress. I decided to switch the spark plug from 1 to 2 but I didn’t want to because too me they were pretty much new plug. To my surprise after I did that the problem now jumped to p0301. So I did some research and learned that there were fake NGK and Denso spark plugs. I bought some new plugs from AutoZone and when I took the fake plugs out OMG the gap on all were like 60mm-65mm. The bad one that was throwing the code was like 70mm gap. The center pointed thing was burnt out which caused the gap to widen up like yours in this video. Don’t ever buy from non reputable dealers!

      I’m not sure how Ovation built their mandolins, but if it’s the same as a guitar, it should be playable for quite a long time. As the rear of the bridge lifts, your string action gets higher to a point where it becomes unplayable. I believe the screws should hold till then.

      My opinion is that once the bridge starts moving it starts putting more and more stress on body through the screws instead of across the entire bridge. Over time, that's what leads to cracking and warping. I would address the issue as soon as possible and get the bridge glued back down solid to the body to restore a more even pressure on the body.

    Unfortunately, this isn’t accurate. The mounting studs and screws are actually the same exact hardened steel that come with the Original Floyd Rose. The only parts that are different on the Special are the bridge plate and saddles, that’s it.

    I had this issue with a used guitar i got on reverb once. Luckily at the time i worked at PRS guitars and one of their techs sharpened the knife edge to what it was supposed to be. Worked perfectly after that. And frankly i havent had many issues with the floyd special. I think its a fantastic thing for people who cant afford the ore expensive floyds. And you can upgrade them overtime. Stainless steel screws, titanium saddle blocks, push in bar, etc etc. After i upgraded my special it became my go to floyd. Until i upgraded the others so now theyre all equal 🤣

      From authorized distributors. In the US stores like AutoZone, Advance, O’reilleys, etc. And OEM car dealers like Toyota dealer, Nissan, etc. Or go to websites for the maker of the plugs and look for “where to buy” link to see where they recommend you buy it.

      @@Gever_Gracio it didn't do much for me changing the studs. What really helped was to glue the nut at the top of the neck and adding that little bar piece after the nut that keeps the strings down and flat against the nut

      You need to look up your vehicle at a parts website to see what spark plug the manufacturer recommends. From old to new, there are: copper, single platinum, double platinum, and iridium. It is best to use what the manufacture originally installed on the vehicle as the whole system was tested at that time, although it is generally accepted that an “upgraded spark plug” is acceptable to be used.

    Man I got a 2009 esp ltd mh - 327 with FRS and when I pulled or pushed on trem bar it never returned to - 0 - and it was 3 - 5 cents off so I watched a ton of videos until I found one that remedied my problem and my problem was I only had 2 springs and I needed to add a 3rd spring to get it yo return to almost - 0 - near perfectio on … Most you fellas are over thinking things Yes FRS soft zink and can wear out quicker that steel … But FRS can last for just as long if you keep it clean and use proper number of springs and correct tension … As I found 3 springs if need be are ok on a FRS without causing damage to the soft zink but I think 4 springs may but 5 springs for sure will just lean on everything made of monkey metal and wear it out … But then again I’m just a long haired fella that touches my ding - o - ling just as much if not more than my guitars so What do I know … thanks … GOD BLESS !!!
