- A pack of dogs attacked two people Thursday, injuring an elderly man and a teenager. Now, their owner is apologizing to his Pasco County neighborhood, but unhappy that a dog is dead.
Deputies said a pack of three adult and two puppy pit bulls were roaming the Shady Hills area early Thursday morning. A 15-year-old boy and an elderly man were attacked by the three adult dogs at separate locations.

The dog owner is a lunatic. He expects someone to wait to be bitten before shooting the dog, knowing there was already a victim who'd been attacked.

This breed absolutely needs to be outlawed. Just a few weeks ago one of my best friends and his wife were walking their little dog and a Pit Bull got under a fence and attacked their dog and nearly killed it. They both were bitten trying to get the Pit Bull off their dog. I’m a dog lover and have had many breeds, but Pit Bulls have no place in society.
The owner’s logic: If a guy thrusts a knife at you, you have to wait until the knife pierces your skin for you to defend yourself

My dog a purebred black German shepherd has only bitten me when he injured his leg as a 6 month old puppy. That was painful enough. But has not bitten me since that incident.
He is very protective and has made it clear when he is protecting me or my wife. He is always leashed outside of the yard. Now come in the yard and you are on your own. Yhat being said I warn people that he is sweet but prefer they keep their distance as he gets older. When we are out and about he is always alert.

@@donfinley2540 a lot of Germs are pretty territorial, and more so than most breeds. I can deal with dogs, but I get anxious when they bark, and I am in an enclosed area like a room or limited space area’s. I get edgy, even when people start yelling it’s the same. It’s a form of PTSD

That being said there are people who train their pits to be volatile and then leave them to reek havoc like the arsehole in the video. Any dog can potentially become aggressive especially while running in packs as these were. But from the jest of the attitude of the jerk in the video he was probably proud his dogs did this. I have a pitbull and what the deputy did was justified. If my dog had gone and attacking people then if my dog were to get killed it’s honestly no ones fault but the dogs. Ive had pet pitbulls and also been attacked by a vicious pitbull. They seem innately more aggressive and unpredictable compared to other breeds. Id never own one again now that i have a child and have seen so many horror stories of these dogs randomly attacking their owners and others out of the blue, unprovoked.
coming from a single lady who has been attacked four times in her 51 years of life. all four were completely unprovoked and yes all four were pit /bully types. twice while walking or jogging, they ran across a busy street and pushed me down. another time was at a friends house, 12 year old family pet who never hurt a soul. and the last one was at Home Depot shopping. but of course its all about the training right?? all animals have the capability to snap but only certain breeds can physically shred apart their intended prey.

My dog got bit by a loose pitbul about a year ago. I still have trouble walking him now because he is scared of everything that moves now.
Same with my dog. It's frustrating and I have done everything I know to help her ( and I'm a dog behaviorist) it was that traumatic to her.

Pitbulls has the majority of dog bites on Humans. Sure, according to several sites, dogs don't attack someone if not provoked. However, anxiety can increase the chance of a dog biting someone, so either the old man, cop, or teen were afraid - which is justified, since not everyone will be calm when loose pitbulls show up.
If not that, then the fault could belong to the owner. Dogs bite when they become uncomfortable, guarding someone, or are feeling anxiety or are stressed, or even to redirect their aggresive behaviors to a stranger - the owner either abuses his dog (and is just hiding that) which led to the dog's aggresive behavior, or some other reasons that may cause stress.
And maybe the teen, old man, or deputy *did* something to provoke the dog, but you're just jumping to conclusions without thinking of other possibilities - I assumed that since you used "must".

I don't care what kind of pet you own, they will always find a way to get out. In my blue state, you can only shoot a dog if you have "visible signs of attack"--which is kinda stupid, if you ask me. If my state an elderly lady was visiting a friend whose daughter happened to have a pit. The dog bit the old lady's legs off and killed her. This happened about 3 years ago and the state still hasn't put the dog down yet. Yes sir, Dexter the pit bull! It's ironic that as I type this, my dog and myself were almost attacked by a pit bull mix in the neighborhood while we were walking this morning. The dog got lose and the owner walked right by us and never stopped to apologize.

A dog should attack when they feel their owner is in danger. These dogs attacked an old man and a teenager on his way to school, how is that "protecting"? That is an assult there's a difference. Now i have a golden retriever and a french bully and two small mustache chiwawas. I love all dogs but some are meant to live on farms and protect from other aggressive animals and thieves, and majority of other breeds are meant to be house pets.
Whatever dog you will raise you will love, so why raise an aggressive breed with even if it has 1% chance to make a mistake and shoot him down and lose a family member.
I’ve learned my lesson the hard way.

Dogs don’t love you, you provide food and safety for them for free. They depend on you, they take advantage of you. Dogs are nothing less of rabies spreading disgusting smelling violent natural carnivores and killers that have been bred to “be kept as a pet”. The owners don't know how to handle a breed with specific needs and energy levels. All this preventable if he wanted a guard dog. He should have taken precautions and study how to properly care for the particular breeds he has. Also fun fact dalmations are a higher threat to children than most breeds but people won't know that due to Disney making 101 dalmations wich forced people to stop carrying them as family dogs for kids.

@Zen Ara Dogs are animals. A dog owner has to know what kind of dog he has. As the dog can't use good sense, it does no good only faulting the dog. If you make the adults responsible, the adults will use better judgement. Of course some people just can't learn, worse than their animal.
