If a drunk driver kills someone with their vehicle it is already treated the same as someone killing someone with a gun. It's like the difference between someone discharging a firearm in public receives less penalties than actually shooting someone while driving drunk gets severe penalties if no one is hurt, but is considered murder if someone dies as a result in the same way.
I doubt this guy is getting out of the jail outside of being taking to a hospital temporarily or the morgue with how many he killed.

It's safer to stay home and drink, and cheaper too I might add. Also you don't risk a DWI, or dealing with idiots at the bar who think they have to be Mr tough guy just because they're at a bar for whatever reason.

I do know many people can drive just fine after a few beers (seen tests to prove it), even though the legal limit is basically one beer in an hour, which some people can't handle. Some people deserve a bit of a break, but guys like this that have so many different violations showing a history of not taking responsibility for anything or trying to improve it (including grand theft auto and leaving the scene) tells me he should have faced a DUI charge or two in there before, but probably fled the scene to sober up before dealing with the police.

People don’t realize that when they drink and drive and they kill somebody it’s for real, someone lost a family member, a brother, Father, Sister, Mother,Brother Child or all of the above, I lost a younger Brother, the person driving was drunk, my brother was a passenger in the same vehicle as the drunk driver, who by the way survived the accident and it was an accident, he hit a tree that was in the center of the street, but then when the city plants trees in the middle of the street every so many feet and there’s a bar on a corner of every other street and a church on some of the other corners I guess that’s to balance out the guilt?

I understand the role of Defense attorneys, but its sickening that as a Public Defender you're forced to attempt to show an insufferable lowlife criminal such as this one in a good light.
On a side note, one look at the room full of outstanding-looking citizens [insert sarcasm here] gives me low hope for humanity these days.

Unfortunately, Marion County is FULL of these offenders ! Check the records, and you'll see a lot of your neighbors have done time in lockup, and are currently hooked on meth or something else.

In California, when you get your first DUI, they make you sign a contract. Which states, that if you're driving and crash into someone whether it was your fault or not for the accident. It would be considered attempted murder

This is where addiction will take you. Addiction has cost this guy his freedom and killed 8 people with many more injured. No one wants to be an addict. It's a hellish way to live. People say "Why don't you just stop drinking?" or "Why can't you just drink like normal people do?". Addicts are powerless to stop drinking. I don't know what the answer is but this guy will spent the rest of his life behind bars and 8 families are without their loved ones all because of addiction.
