While the owners actions may seem inconsiderate, I think they are probably avoiding all contact out of legal reasons. For all we know, the owners may have contacted a lawyer in preparation for any law suits or criminal charges that may come of this.
If I were in their shoes, I’d keep my mouth shut and not say anything even and apology. Because anything they say or do could affect them in the courtroom.

@@alexandertheresurrection2810 I agree that it is wise to not speak with her directly. But since we know there will be a lawsuit. It would actually work in their favor to extend, either through their attorney (or whatever impersonal payment method they used before (Zelle or cash app or whatever)) to at least pay her. It kind of helps mitigate the idea that they are careless and negligent if they volunteer the money that they at least owed her for the day. Not anything beyond that just what she was to be paid. This is a gruesome attack and although you don’t want to admit “guilt” you definitely want your defense attorney to get up and say; “they feel terrible about this.” Maybe even draw up and offer a settlement instead of making her go through this whole legal process. Sure it’s going to cost a lot over time but I mean it’s their fault. So they should be ready to humbly negotiate, don’t ya think?

For real. I work in a dog daycare and boarding facility so I've only ever been bitten on purpose once, and I definitely saw it coming.
A dog tried to escape it's kennel and without thinking I tried hooking my hands around his thighs to slow him down enough to get a lead on him. He was already acting pretty nervous that day so he got scared and whipped around and bit my hand once. I absolutely deserved it.
It's not like he could have gone anywhere, it was just in the facility, I should have let him go and then caught up with him to try to calm him down. He's a super sweet dog and we're still buddies, it's just important to pay attention. Very rarely will animals freak out like that without warning.

They have two aggressive dog breeds. (And before anyone attacks me, most countries list them as such. And not because of some wives tale or stereotype) these dogs get aggressive if they aren’t trained or are carelessly bred. I was attacked by a dog when I was 9. The dog ripped a third of my scalp off along with part of my upper lip and bottom lip. I feel bad for her because I know the stares and glares she’s gonna get. I also know when she tells her story there will be a lot of people who say that they were bit by a dog before like in the leg or on the arm, but deep down she’s gonna be thinking really? You’re gonna compare that to this? I had 12 reconstructive surgeries and I just wanna wish her the best in recovery, not only physically but mentally as well. Stay strong!

      *What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Romans 10:9
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

And it wasn't even just one dog it was two and they literally tore her to pieces. And the fact that the owners didn't even reach out and apologize to her really makes the whole situation even more suspicious because if you claim that you've never had a single issue with either one of those dogs and that they weren't aggressive or anything like that the first thing you would be doing is reaching out to that person and letting them know how sorry you are and paying them for their services. The fact that they didn't do any of those things is odd. And that is such a slap in the face because she came over there to help them with watching their dogs and instead she left on a stretcher almost dead with body parts missing. SMH

Some dog owners have a weird sort of "white wolf" mentality towards their pet dogs that they know are problematic. They think their dogs are special and that makes them feel more connected with their dog instead of recognizing that the dog is dangerous. It's not out of the realm of possibility that the owners of the two dogs blame the victim in this case, since she entered their home and the dogs attacked, and now the owners are forced to put the dogs to sleep and they're being sued. Many people would acknowledge their negligence and do everything they could to help... but some people put up their defenses and choose to see themselves as the victims.

I have been a professional pet sitter for 32 years and I can't begin to tell you the impact Jacqueline's story has had throughout the pet sitting world. A lot of us are re-evaluating how we conduct meet and greets, how we enter homes and many of us are thinking back at times that we could have been in the same kind of trouble but we were just luckier. Although pet sitting is typically not considered to be a high risk job what happened to Jacqueline shows that a pet sitter should always be on guard and that a situation can change in a flash. So please, whether you're a professional sitter or taking care of a neighbor's dog across the street, always be careful. For those of you who hire professional sitters to care for whatever pets you may have please appreciate them because they work hard for you.

Agreed. I was a dog sitter for many years and felt pretty confident in my knowledge of dog behavior (many young pet sitters truly dont know enough about dog behavior to be pet sitting) but there only 1 dog that I actually got scared of. I did not like his vibes from the beginning. He was a GSD mix. But he was "okay" and he was toy motivated so we would go out and play fetch in the yard. Then he started getting very possessive of his crate. He would willingly go back into his crate but I would go to close it and he lunged and tried to attack me as I was closing the door. Obviously shook me up and I let the owner know and we had another meet and greet again with the owner present and when I went to open the back door to show our routine, he nipped at my hand when I reached for the door. I was smart enough to know at that point, nope, I was not risking myself for a measly $15 or w/e it was. But I think of how many times I went there alone prior, and god forbid something had happened.... I guess i was just lucky.

I was 6 when i was attacked by my mom's ex's 5 boxers; and i ended up with scars all over my face, body, lost my right ear, and the doctors managed to save my left ear because it was barely hanging on. Please train your dogs and don't neglect them, you could train them to protect but never is it okay to train a dog to attack someone or make the dog think its okay.

LOTS of these people are! I've trained Shepherds for 40 years. It takes commitment, consistency, and you have to be at least as smart as the dog to do it correctly. It's staggering how few people nowadays lack all 3 of those attributes. You can just look at the way the majority of children act in the present day to realize this, never mind animals. Kids and pets are both being done a GREAT disservice by people who create monsters with their ignorance.
