He was gonna take the day off, but he decided not to.
This is really sad
[REDACTED] I don’t think he wanted to but he was called into work and he had to go because he’d be fired.
[REDACTED] whats also really sad is that the plane crashed because he was having a heart attack after having an argument over the pilots strike, he made bad rescissions because he was in so much pain
AlexX incorrect, the pilots had high stress levels and incorrectly retracted the droops instead of the flaps. None of the crew members flying had a heart attack.
You profile picture caught me for a quick second.

I feel bad for the old guy he was supposed to be on a day off but.....
Unfortunately was called to his doom
No the old man was dooming to his company
Because.......well he probably sabotaged the plane with the droops and stick pushers

Smithsonian Channel: It's Brighter Here
I've noticed that too
I know right
It's probably an old angry Nazi war general running the Smithsonian Channel.
I just wanted to comment that too xD
Ava La la land I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING
What happened: Pilot had large amounts of stress and arguments and did not recover, main reason was stall
also the first officer decided to retract the droop snoop instead of the flaps so now almost every aircraft has labels on all the levers so confusion does not happen and all planes now have a flight data recorder
Yummy how do you know? They clearly said they don’t know who was the one to retract the droops
rodrock brown I was guessing it was the first officer and I am pretty sure it was him
Thanks captain
I saw u in air asia 8501 video
why do you all end them like that? and then the little cheery thing at the end, man
Hahahahs
Lorenzo Hines it’s an outtro
Not uploading full series just a piece of cake :-(
Lorenzo Hines agreed so mean
Lol yea this one had a really big effect
The captain misconfigured the leading edge lift devices (droops) after departure sending the aircraft into a deep stall. According to an investigator who did research into the incident, human factors was believed to be a contributing element to the crash. It is believed that the captain was in a particularly foul mood and, coupled with the seniority and overbearing natures of captains in that day and age, the other crew members were hesitant to intervene when retracted the droops too early.
Thanks it looked like the captain was going to have a heart attack any second
Gargus fungletine stalingefe Funny enough, it was later discovered that the pilot did have a condition in which he had a stroke right before the flight, impairing his judgement
@@heyitscj7726 Huh maybe just a little slightly that could one a probable cause
Doesnt the aircraft has alarm warning for no in the correct take off configuration?
@@riyanla The stall happened at around 10,000-11,000 ft (I could be wrong) and the misconfiguration occured during the climb towards the assigned atltitude. The Take-Off Warning Configuration System will only occur when they are doing the take-off roll on the runway and the plane is still near or at ground-level.

they act as if the plane is about to crash when taking off. then in under a second everything goes to shit. this is way over dramatized.
this has no fucking context, why no just thrust up ffs this might as well be a fucking fantasy story.
if you add throttle the nose raises, making the stall worse. You have to lower the nose and gain lift before you use thrust. Also, this is just a preview to get you to watch their stuff.
Oh, fancy seeing you here, Peter. Are you doing well from your traumatizing experience with Soundsmith?

Well i don't know because you didn't tell me.
@Joseph’s 4 John son It wasn't a stall it was a downdraft, which at the time of this accident weren't understood, therefore the mystery
@@SKS6184- the 3rd pilot would be the Flight Engineer mate
@@cooperman114 You're confusing this with Delta 191 which flew into a microburst. BEA 548 crashed because one of the pilots accidentally retracted the droops instead of the flaps, due to the confusingly similar levers they both have.
I don't know, but, for some reason they kept showing that spinning thing, an engine, maybe, sorry, I don't know parts of an aircraft, wonder if it had something to do with that, like the rain getting into the spinny thing.

Even though I'm not a pilot, I think the first thing to do in this situation is to throttle up the engine to max power.
They didnt know that 😑
Because if they Know, then theyre gonna go and do it.
and then...
when they realize that the plane is Diving. I think the capt. Just pull the yoke harder and that doesnt make any sense. u better push to gain speed and u can be able to lift it up again. PHYSICS ! 😎
That's wrong. First thing you do in a stall is push the nose down. THEN you power-up. Lift > thrust
AWC. If it's high altitude then they would do that.
AWC True!I think you are correct!
Neither would've helped much in this accident since one of the crewmembers accidentally retracted the forward high-lift devices on the wings about 60 knots too early *and* overrode the stall warning system _twice_ before shutting it off entirely. At such a low altitude, the whole thing was over in 20 seconds.
I find it funny how I'm watch this 4 weeks before my flight, pray for me😂😂😂
4 weeks lol, i was sick and watching air crash investigation for a whole week before flying in a small propeller plane in a heavy storm.
I was affraid for some moments
good luck, I pray for you 😂 Greetzzz from the Netherlands 😉
+EnzoKnol thank you😂😂 it went by fine, we went through a storm though🛬
I have my flight tomorrow at 11:00, going back to England
Stalls can be recovered if given enough time but when when the plane is lower and it stalls , there is barely any time for the pilots to recover. When you are also taking off , don't mostly use Flaps to help , because even though they let you fly in higher altitudes , you are still in low speeds.
They would've needed to react INSTANTLY to be able to save the plane, and even then, the chance of survival was so slim just because of the extremely low altitude. But unfortunately they reacted too late, if they reacted at all that is
THIS IS WHAT HAPPEND:The pilots got in an argument, the capitan was irritated and confused commands for the flaps, they stalled and where not able to regain control in time, they nearly made it,but they crashed.
Nick Nunes it was with the useless pay the old man got

The way the plane cashed is horrible, and suddenly..... Its bright here!
The Captain had a huge row just before take off and this apparently lead to such high blood pressure it did for his heart, so infact the poor guy was having trouble concentrating on the flight.
1:07 so the other narrator is playing the role of a traffic controller in this episode.
3:53 that landing tho...
THIS CHANNEL IS ALWAYS SUGGESTED TO ME BEFORE A FLIGHT!
Old school pilot with young pilots who wanted to go on strike
The captain didn't.
Basically, they didn't get along.
The Trident was the first auto land capable airliner.
Phil Montejano The Captain also had an argument with another junior pilot (not any of the ones he was flying with) the same day before the flight in the staff room. He made it very clear that he didn’t agree with the views of the younger pilots, that’s why the atmosphere in the cockpit was tense.
@@emmaherron5121 agreed but he is in command and should have taken control and tell his crew.

They always leave out the best part
3:35 LOOK AT THE SPEED LOOK AT THE SPEED Me why didn’t they put the power to full?
Because that would make the deep stall worse
The main reason given for the crash was due to retracting droop flaps too soon which is unlikely. Fire/ambulance crews were all over the crash site, removing items, 1st officer was pulled from wreckage poss moving the flap lever.
Strong gusty headwind, full payload + fuel probable cause
“It’s brighter here” after deadly plane crash
I'm a dreadful flyer, but I am also fascinated by plane disasters. A disastrous combination in itself.
I've watched several videos on plane crash from this channel. Really terrifying seeing those on board wailing
2:24 sounds like he said key lime pie
3:23 "What was that?" He said that in the most british accent and also he is monitoring the flight so shouldn't he know.
Yeah lol 😂.
Boom
The co-pilot put the thrust all the way down lol, a tired overworked pilot and a sum of strong downdrafts.
Sim Jing Ying no dude he pulled the droops instead of the flaps
Honestly thought it was going to be the old guy passing out, he looked quite ill throughout the duration of the flight.
You’re actually not far off, the captain had a underlying coronary artery problem that activates when his blood pressure is high. He actually got into a heated argument with one of the company’s first officer over the threatened strike. Witnesses described it as one of the loudest and fiercest argument they witnessed and all this occurred within just 30 minutes before the flight. It’s quite likely that the argument caused the captain’s blood pressure to rise and caused him to be in pain during the flight. In the transmissions, likely due to his medical problems, the captain is heard saying very few sentences, far below the minimum required for any transmissions (the only words he spoke were “Roger” and “Taking-off”). While in pain, he most likely retracted the droops mistaking it for a nearby identical lever.
Some random Guy ah ok, thanks. It would’ve been strange if they’d just put that in for no reason.
This plane crash happened in 1972 when GPWS systems in aircrafts weren't required...ugh.
In my opinion, this happened because of the timing of power for the aircraft to climb, the co-pilot must have made a slight error for it to just suddenly plummet, but why did this drastic descent happen so unexpectedly and was so fatal, we can’t answer. :(
You could have just googled it instead of acting like we don't know the cause when we do, would've taken you about 5 seconds.
The actual cause was premature retraction of the droops at insufficient airspeed, but a major enabling factor was tension in the cockpit arising from a lack of crew resource management (CRM). Captain Key was an old school military man and an autocrat, and younger, less experienced pilots tended to be afraid of him. (I learned this from watching the entire documentary).
Also the captain disengaged the piston that pushes the yoke forward to try and stop a stall. In that aircraft you have to reach back behind central consul to find the switch. A very odd thing to do, and it was overriding a safety feature. I think he was angry and confused.
3:27 pause it cause I found this funny don’t ask
No matter how messed up a video is, ending never changes, i like it
I like how the plane crashes and the outro so calm about it
Crash starts at 3:22
Knew someone years ago who lost her parents. She had a breakdown and said worst thing were the cars trying to take a look at the crash.
Love the outro. Very fitting
The fact that the plane is shown as just popping apart like a LEGO set filled with springs is testimony to the CGI abilities of one of the greatest research institutions of the world

That is a painful crash to imagine like we all know that there's no way gonna survive that crash.
how it should look in fsx when you stall the plane
He means when you crash into the ground...
Laurendahl Gaming It's ok, I had mine on at the time...
+Laurendahl Gaming No! No! No! Wrong! A stall and a flat spin are two different things. A stall is simply flying too slowly for your wings to generate lift. A flat spin may occur during a stall and is, at best, *VERY* difficult to recover from.
Just push the stick forwards to pitch down and increase throttle as necessary to regain lift before you spin.
It works for me, and that's also what aircraft pilots are trained to do.

Smithsonian: *It's brighter here.*
The planes droops were pulled in too early, most likely mistaken for the flaps. This caused the plane to stall
The ending is so cheery it’s like everything is already bad and then this cheery outro comes out
Imagine watching this before flying in a plane

Why does the pilot seem relieved?
It's like he knew something was wrong.
Yeah ! I was thinking that captain crash the plane
He's Actor
I think that was the series way of inserting a foreshadowing scene to the eventual reveal in the episode that the captain had a coronary artery problem and it could’ve started after the pressure brought on by the fierce argument the captain had with another pilot an hour before the flight took off.
