On takeoff.
Amazing
Smithsonian splices clips from the show for RUclips
I heard this I thought I was crazy 😂😂😂 glad someone heard it too XD
I caught that too thought it was funny since they were already rolling
Smh, and 30 of flaps on take off. True professionals. Lmao
Sweta Singh they crashed so how could they land?
"The subsequent investigation determined that several factors contributed to the accident, including poor training, the incorrect calculation of the take-off speed by the flight crew, and the inadvertent application of wheel braking by one of the pilots, who had improperly placed his feet on the pedals. It was later revealed that the pilot had used falsified documents to obtain permission to fly the aircraft, and that both crew members lacked the training necessary to fly the Yak-42."
you're welcome.
Where did you get this information from?
Thanks
Dorothea Arnault there’s something called “the internet”
Thanks man you watered my curiosity fire. Great knowledge friend😊😊😊
U googled huh
Plane crashes and everybody dies, Smithsonian Channel: It's brighter here
exactly wtf
OML I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
Irony.
same consideration lol
You said that on the other vid.
It looked like a large grassy field they ran into. Why didn't they just cut the power once they ran off? The plane would have had plenty of grass to slow down on.
I think a comment by KCuberAlles clears it up. They forged documents and the CP had a nerve disorder and didn't realize he was stepping on the breaks. They should not have been anywhere near the cockpit.
Zeldagigafan pretty sure the comment that said that was a joke...
Pretty sure a different documentary about the same plane crash stated this disorder,
But they will have to slow the plane down by reverse thrust from the engines and spoilers
You have in total three marks with take-off:
V1: The speed at which the aircraft CAN NOT reject the take-off and has to take-off no matter what the surcimstances, as or else the plane will skid of the runway (and crash).
Rotate: The speed at which the aircraft has to rotate the aircraft to an angle about 10° to succesfuly climb.
V2: The speed at which the aircraft CAN NOT reject take-off if the plane has lost one of its 2 engines.
The plane here was already past V1 and Rotate, no matter what they have to continue their take-off
That happy music at the end of this is REALLY inappropriate.
I like flying planes into towers

Well...yeah true

This is listed under entertainment, just want to throw that out there.
Matt Frankman I watch these for fun. Yeah. They're educational and entertaining. (because I like watching the deaths of hundreds of people) in all seriousness, I've learned a lot about the mechanical aspects of aircraft through these.
And, according to youtube guidelines; the title must reflect the content too - this video says nothing about what happens when a plane goes of the runway. Should be reported.

Yeah its really entertaining talking about *aviation disasters you would never want to be in*
@@tyranl.131 that got dark pretty soon
I knew someone who once flew on a Russian airliner. He described it as 20,000 parts flying in very, very tight formation.

You have your own pilots?.
That's normal - it's just an aborted takeoff :)
For those wondering:
The crash was caused by pilot error, runway overrun and Stall on take off, and poor training. It crashed into the river.
Only 1 survived out of the 45 including the Lokomotiv Yaroslavi professional Ice Hockey Team. It's known as Lokomotiv Hockey Team Disaster. Yak-service had it's operating license revoked.
And once a plane reaches past V1 the Pilot must take off.
Why am I watching this right before my dad is going a plane
He's more likely to die on the way there then him dying on the plane so odds are if he is at the airport he is going to be fine man

Was anyone else cringing as the plane was approaching the end of the runway and the pilots didn't abort.
Jack Coggins it's past V1 so they can't stop
TwistedBlueFlame I mean like right at the end and even on the grass. I mean once you're on the grass and approaching a forest you wouldn't keep going.
Jack Coggins you can't stop still..
Jack L Coggins they were past V1 speed on the runway, but went they went on the grass and didn't stop...
Yeah, V1 means no abortion is allowed.

It’S BrIGhTEr HeRe
its amazing how not extending the flaps can make such a difference
it wasn't because of the flaps, it was because one of the pilots accidentally applied the brakes during the take-off roll because the pilot was trained on a slightly different plane.
The crash in which the pilots forgot to extend the flaps was Northwest 255

that's so sad how they died :(
+Ryan exactly why the fuck would u be like oh we aren't airborne let's carry on why the fuck don't they brake and abort
dude dying in a plane crash is a badass way of dying
It's Not allowed to Abort Landing after reaching V1 Speed for any reason The V1 In their case was (190 Knots)
It's safer to be in the air than to stop in the ground but this time it is kind of the opposite, as far as I know, That's what they were trained to do.
*its brighter here*
WHY DID THEY NOT JUST BRAKE
Does he say "gear down" at 0:27?? They are on the ground??
Luca94 I believe in that clip they were landing, however pilots do check on the ground to make sure the gear lever is in the down position or else the gear could collapse on takeoff. (at least in small planes)
No they fucking don't
It's not even on the checklist,it's like checking if you have flaps at the gate.

Ive seen this air crash investigation and if im right, the pilot accedently pushed his feet on the landing gear brakes and that caused the plane to slow down and not get airborn. And its not the flaps, the flaps were set in the right position.
Reason for the crash from Wikipedia: The subsequent investigation determined that several factors contributed to the accident, including poor training, the incorrect calculation of the take-off speed by the flight crew, and the inadvertent application of wheel braking by one of the pilots, who had improperly placed his feet on the pedals.[4] It was later revealed that the pilot had used falsified documents to obtain permission to fly the aircraft, and that both crew members lacked the training necessary to fly the Yak-42.[5]
tried of long air crash investigation.excellent work smithsonian keep it up
Sometimes I have fears before takeoff. Once the plane gets to speed, though, my only fear is if the plane doesn't get into the air.
I breathed with a sigh of relief... "aaahh they made it"... Buuut, remembered this was a Smithsonian documentary when it still ended up crashing 🙄
Two of the victims onboard, Pavol Demitra and Coach Igor Korolev, played for my hockey team, the St. Louis Blues. I remember watching Pavol play for the Blues.

they're like trailer, there are full episodes somewhere else I think
The episode is in the description
Try air crash investigations usually 45 mins
These are like mini stories with no ending!
I tried this on Infinite Flight, and everything failed. The only thing that could have caused this deadly Yak-42 crash is simply someone either stepping on the brakes, or someone just simply didn’t oil the fuggin elevators enough. This is stupid.
I like the “it’s brighter here” unlike everyone else

Will Shearer its normal
TwistedBlueFlame no flaps 30 is for landing, for take off the flaps must be set to 15 or 20
Flap settings don’t matter that much with that high flap setting it could still get into the air
Tofuu no because there would be WAYYYYY to much drag
This is so addictive

Why am I watching these 4 days before my flight
MATE!!! At the begging when introducing the captain he says 'flaps are 30'!!!! NO WONDER THEY CRASHED!
Having it at flaps 30 would have Increased the chance of lift. Though it was probably during a landing sequence.
Anthony I don't understand flaps 30 is normal
The Clumsy Gamer - Perhaps no commenter knows the Yak-42?
Yes flaps 30 would create drag, but they got a good enough speed. I think they took off with a strong tailwind

Aircrash investigation from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL
I can already see the problem, and I just clicked on the video. (Note I'm 11) First, they didn't stop the plane, and spool up the thrust for take-off, therefore the plane sped up slower, causing it to over run the runway. They didn't reach V1, until far off the runway, and then they crashed. Okay, then I keep watching it and the pilots make the plane pitch up so much that the plane stalls, and hell happens.
Use spools up instead or rev up next time ;)
Thanks. :D
Actually never mind, they did spool the engines. It was just the fact that the pilot put brakes on whilst trying to lift the nose up. Along with keeping the throttle NOT at max. So the plane sped up slower, but the captain put the throttle to full soon after. So then they run over the runway, they start to lift off, but the plane crashes into a tower. And because of the pilots trying to lift the plane up, they lose control. And Crash..
+ROBLOXGamingGammaRays [RGGR] irl pilots don't use max thrust to lift off usually
gonatrollya yeah they get on 40% i think? Or is it only for the 737?
Why am I so fascinated by these videos? My government might come looking for me.
hate seeing passengers on planes in a horrible crash.
No links to an explanation for this tragedy - for Smithsonian this is just a short fun video. I have found this several times where a story is left hanging with no links. This channel is - in my opinion - pure crap, despite their pro. video skills. I go, i no come back.
These are teasers for their full documentaries. They have a playlist of full episodes.
Explaination: The pilots were experts, that did not use their expertise to stop the aircraft. If it does not take off when reaching middle of runway you make a full stop. Runways are several kilometers for a reason
Captain Earls nope, the captain had some problems with his skin and he was actually breaking without realizing
Bob Loosemore it's a teaser ad. They want you to buy the full length episode. Of course you can also read about the incident on Wikipedia.
Bruh. They literally have a link to it in their description?
This channel dose my ed in becUz it never ever tells
You why it crashed but “it’s brighter here “ lamo
Completed outro
The fire is brighter here!
lol XD
The captain was looking like undertaker
what was the cause?
the two pilots forged their documents but werent actually qualified to fly, plus the co-pilot had a nerve disorder and wasn't supposed to be flying at all, because of his nerve disease he didnt realize he was stepping on the breaks during take off, which didnt allow the plane to get off the ground (obviously)
KCüberAlles that doesnt make sense if they got to take off roll kias they should have lifted off were all 3 unqualified? did they not actually reach 190 knots indicated airspeed? holding the breaks wouldnt allow you to reach this speed when doing a run up you hold breaks add power and test. so im calling bullshit
Jack S dude my dad is a pilot at a Russian airline just because they crashed doesn't mean they are a bad company.nearly all of the airlines in the world have had a crash or a near crash
you are right and... Ryanair hasent one yet!
There could be several causes:
Airbrakes left on
Elevator trim offset
Flaps not deployed
and most likely: taking off with back wind
If I was the captain, I would slow the plane down if it went past the speed of the planes normal takeoff and line up again and retry. It's a lot more safer then going off and risking people's life on board
+Pika Pikachu but it would be safer than what they dis
+Adeel Gaming did
they were past V1, there was never enough time to stop the plane safely, probably would have had the same result.
Yeah, but it might reduce the death toll if they were going slower.
planes spotter and railfanner you wouldn't know that the plane would crash
“Wat you doing?!”
😂
2:03 WUT U DOIN!?!??!
Any deaths/survivors/explanation?
all the passengers died, it's flight with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey players
2012svk Not entirely. Only one passenger, Alexander Sizov, the flight engineer, survived. A hockey player, Alexander Galimov also survived, but he died five days later. The cause was pilot error, and improper certification and training between the co-pilot and pilot.
2012svk The Flight Attendant. Alexander Sizov survived

Ryanair:smooth takke off👌👍
when the pilot error using brakes wheel, but it wont lift off, when the wind pushes the wind to lose speed, it will stall, but its too heavy or angle attack, russian investigators needs to answer. (no typing, no questions)
I thought that on take off the first moment that you detect anything that doesn't seem right in any way at all you just abort the take off (unless you have passed the point of no return which it seemed that they did not). At around 1.23 in the video why did they not instantly abort? It looks like even after that they had a few seconds to abort? Or does the video not represent what really happened?

It's kinda funny how they say, "Gear down" the flight engineer extends the gear, and then they confirm VSpeeds and are cleared for takeoff...
What most people dont know about this is that an entire ice hockey time was on board
i had a friend who was on a plane in Lexington KY that was trying to take off on a runway that was too short . The plane crashed in the grass and caught fire and everyone died except one pilot ,who was really the one who was mainly responsible for the accident.
Dang, so your friend was one of the passengers that were on board Comair Flight 5191? I'm so sorry for your loss

Reason:They Still Apply Brake Before take off
2:23 noticed that the plane model is a tu-152
Incase nobody knows the reason for this is the following:
One of the pilot had a bad medical history that led to him sometimes loosing touch in his feet. So he was unintentionally pressing down on the break pedal causing the plane not to get lift and not able to gain enough speed
Cameron capell - And he wasn't really a pilot. Forged his license, faked his papers, bribed his way into the pilot seat. Learned his...um,...skills from "Airplane Piloting For D.U.M.M.I.E.S.©"
