loved the dialogue in this from the pilots, ''what do we do for an encore'' followed by ''not that'' and their response to ATC mentioning the rudder
It's funny about the encore part lol

You have to joke in stressful situations.
That plane shown here is actually still existing. She got transferred to Delta Air Lines after the two companies merged and after many years in service with Delta, she was retired from service.
Delta preserved her in their flight museum and the exact same plane with the rudder problem is sitting in the parking lot of an Atlanta museum near the international airport.
N661US
Funny story, I went on a field trip to the exact muesuem in Atlanta.(cause I live in Georgia) and there were several older aircraft I saw there. And I remember going into the 747 that was parked outside, extremely legendary to think that’s the exact same plane that had survived this accident long ago.
So weird seeing a northwest plane
What!? " She" so planes have genders now?
@@daviddavis3389 People use pronouns like “she” for things they find somewhat attaching, like a navy calling a battleship “she” instead of “it” (because they dumped a lot of resources to make a battleship).
Sorta same with the 747 I guess, and this tradition has been around since forever, really.
i just realized that its also the first 747-400 ever made
it's always a relief when u see the people in the flight speaking in this interview
They did an amazing job! That's 400 people that got to go home and live their lives. Fantastic crew.
And pilot
@@Annxrblair_the pilots are apart of the crew as he stated in his comment

I love that the Pilots and ATC can joke about after they've successfully landed the plane, they deserve the time
I actually saw this at an aviation explorer's group meeting and got to meet John Hansen in person. Really nice guy.
Everytime I hear lives are saved brings tears.
Same
I won’t lie right but Northwest airlines flight 085 is my favourite mayday episode
Same here
Mine is Gimli glider
The landing was a miracle! The pilots were great!
I knew one of the HEAD Stewardesses @ NWA for THAT EXACT flight, back to 1968! Her name is Angie-intelligent beautiful classy woman, loved our time together! Oh and great job by the crew, too! :)
Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one and they did a great one.
That was a fantastic job by the pilots,,exchange of tasks,,,a total portray of Experience at the optimum,,,,as pilots get old the more experienced they get
Quite a good landing done by the pilots
Great outcome and a good video. Could have used some more details but I guess I'll just look them up. Outstanding work by the Flight Deck crew! Hang the expense; these people should be paid whatever they're worth... which is a lot! Cheers Bill H.
Very good job fellows!! Congratulations.
The landing was a miracle! The pilots were great!
The 747 had a rudder hard over similar to the two 737 that crashed and they had one rudder where 747 had 2 rudders 1 upper and lower
USAir 427 and United 585?
That must be an hell of a ride!
smile happy . . .
a captain struggling . . .
👍👍
Eternal respect for the pilots for their skills and perfect teamwork 👍👍👍👍😊
The description is a little wrong, it was a flight from Detroit to Narita not to Alaska
1:55 epic and we don't talk about
*Me if I was on the plane*
*Casually Recording The Landing*
very emotional video ever🙂
Great job pilots
Dont Forget Chris Hanson. Cpt Of NA085. He Regained control of a loose 747 and managed to save everyone. Hes very underrated.
Centre line is super perfect
rest in peace queen of skies
I love these endings. ❤️
0:14 the 747 in this shot has no gear tilt
My question is what was the danger with the broken rudder after the plane touched down. I don’t think it would be a problem after landing.
Not dangerous for landing but for flying/trying to land it.
@@Facts_dont_hurt oh that makes sense. thanks.
Smooth landing, despite their gut wrenching encounter.
Still smoother than a ryannair landing
How they managed to survive with their rudder busted is insane
The not tilted gear when the clip of the gear is first seen down it’s just cursed when it’s tilted in later scenes
Good landing for a faulty rudder
Respect
I love this one
I've landed at Anchorage multiple times..some sketchy...✌️
Investigators begin to investigate rudder problem, northwest 85 investigation video, please comment below if you want new plane and nwa airline.
I can’t believe they saved this beautiful plane from crashing and landed it safely 😊
start dumping fuel and land on the belly sometimes works I’ve heard 🤷♂️🤔
Ye, but then, there will be a risk of a fire on board due to the impact
I like these one everyone lived!
The pliots were sweating bullets
Wasn't this related to United 585 somehow?
Aerodynamic question: the rudder is what was hardover, yet the planes yaw AND roll axis turned left. Why would the rudder cause roll to change, shouldn’t it just the the yaw that changed?
Delta (N661US): Thank you for saving my life

Northwest Airlines 85
How to survive a ryanair landing
Maybe it was kinda rude to rob the passengers but its really a good idea because they either die or they will be in a forgiving mood after a safe landing

Super pilots
Why did the flight attendant collect valuable items?
Because Sharp Things like Rings etc. could case injuries
It could break the emergency slide
This is the same video uploaded a few months ago
What else do you expect
I saw china airlines flight 611💀💀
January 15 2007
👍❤️
Why is that 95 percent of the planes are Boeing 737 or 747
1:25 welcome to Ryanair we are gonna butter our landing. BRACE for B U T T E R landing.
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO SIR , Abdul Rashid WAZIRABAD PAKISTAN💖
Didn’t they already have this video before?
Do Iran air
If they'd bothered to check the rear-vision mirror they would've known the rudder was stuck
Rear vision mirror? on a 747? WTH?
CHINA AIRLINES?
the man said it was CLOSE to 400 but the title and the clown narrator insist on 404.....
396 passengers. 18 crew members. That totals to 404 people on the plane
@@nashoque9160 Dumbass that totals to 414 people on total there actually were 386 passenger's and 18 crew members total up to 404 people
Why you are reposting videos????
This channel posts clips with different lengths which means you will see the same clip more than once with the length slightly longer or shorter.
