    Will there be the option to add blank tiles with no buildings on? This would allow greater variety in the options for set up and incorporate any other terrain. Also once the kick starter has been funded which I’m sure I will in minuets!! Will there be options to be buy tiles with different structures, I think this will be a fantastic idea to enable people to freshen up bird layouts.
    I’m very interested in this and will be backing this for sure! Will there be deals for funding all three boards?

    Saw you from squidmar miniatures. And idd, we recieved lots of free terrain lately and got into problems storing them. Already found a site wich had a to assemble and disassemble wooden structures. But if this gets some good WH40K material. You will definitely see me shopping for this. Immediatly new this would be a revolutionary idea !
    Edit: I have a big fondness for metal miniatures. how much weight can be put onto these building without ruining the materials ( like bending for starters ) ?

      @@upzone9600 £100? LOL Hard pass. Don't get me wrong. it looks great, but not for that price. For that amount I can get the solid plastic stuff from GW, which is way sturdier, can be painted anyway you want and is more durable and can be positioned anywhere, on any surface. But hey, I'm sure you will have people who buy it, I just won't be one of them.

    • @upzone9600
      @upzone9600  4 года назад +1

      @@madquest8 Thanks for your feedback. We have done a lot of work with the manufacturer and each Upzone box is now £75 per set since this comment from a while ago. Bear in mind this includes a full board as well as a table of terrain, a full board and similar amount of terrain from elsewhere would be far more expensive. Plus with Upzone you have the ability to fold the whole thing down completely flat and store in a small space, which you wouldnt from plastic terrain (without significant assembly).

    • @madquest8
      @madquest8 4 года назад

      @@upzone9600 Randomly browsing I have found that 60" x 44" of game boards, along with a set of rugged plastic terrain (which comprises numerous Pipes and ruined buildings enough to scatter about the map in similar density), comes to £90 in GW product (from a cheaper online retailer than GW, obviously LOL). That's £15 extra for sturdier buildings you can place anywhere on any terrain. The downside is that you need to paint them, and the storage and transport factor. For £75 we are getting closer to something I'd say was a lot more reasonable for your stuff... and given that mail order sites often shave off a few more pounds it's conceivable that this stuff might eventually end up selling for £65-70. I don't know how feasible it is, but you might also want to consider pop up terrain without the boards attached.? This would make it more versatile and you could use it on whatever terrain you may have already. Obviously this would make it a little cheaper, as the quality is way below something like the stuff made by battlesystems, but without being fixed to a large board I'm not sure how sturdy or practical it would be. At the end of the day storage space combined with no need to paint and speed of set up might be a deciding factor, but there's a lot of competition out there, particularly from Battle systems. For me, I certainly have my eye on it For example, I just bought a Battlesystems Fantasy Village for about £72. It takes a good long while to assemble and dismantle, making the latter definitely an unattractive option (better to store it assembled). It absolutely looks way better than your stuff, no question (but doesn't come with the gaming boards), but your stuff would be faster to construct (mere seconds to unfold) and way easier to store... It's difficult for me to estimate if that difference justifies the cost... but I'd say you are in the right ball park. I would snap it up for £50, no question. Ignore it for £100... so maybe £75 will be a good place for it? I guess we'll all find out soon enough! :)

    These look like they hold up well with plastic models but how do they cope with old metal dreadnoughts?

    • @upzone9600
      @upzone9600  4 года назад

      In most cases, if the base of the model fits it should hold it. The buildings have different load bearing amounts due to them being constructed in different ways. Large metal models may be a bit touch and go on some of the buildings but not on others. But as you said, any plastic model will be fine.

    When is the launch?

  • @l3eland
    @l3eland 4 года назад

    Do you have any videos of a game being played on it? How heavy are the pieces? What if someone hits a building piece, does the weight allow it to remain in place or would it, and the boards around it, move?
    Looks like a great option for those who want a quick game with little upkeep, but I'm worried about the base boards themselves.
    Thanks!

    • @upzone9600
      @upzone9600  4 года назад +1

      Hi Ryan. We have some images of the terrain supporting some heavier miniatures on our facebook here: facebook.com/UpzoneWargaming/posts/147271443756371
      The board bases are heavy and do weight the terrain down nicely so they are kept in place. However it is still worth being careful with the terrain to ensure it lasts a long time!

    I like the idea, but the surfaces are huge even folded, and so is the box. These would clash with s lot of gaming mats, and they probably wouldn't fit in a normal backpack. Did you consider limiting yourselves to just the structures, so the size of each one is smaller, easier to transport and deploy?

    • @upzone9600
      @upzone9600  4 года назад +1

      Thanks. This set is designed to be used without a gaming mat, the boards form the entire play surface, so you have the complete terrain package in one box. The size of the structures are designed to be an average sized building footprint, and 5" tall where possible. Due to the size of the buildings when folded flat the boards need to be large to contain them, which is why I decided to make the full game surface from the boards and not have free-standing terrain.

    • @upzone9600
      @upzone9600  4 года назад +2

      Martin Walker We will be doing loads, however the kickstarter will just be the cathedral sector. But as long as this is successful then we will be hoping to do many more settings and support different game systems in the future. This is our first kickstarter so we wanted to ensure we are able to deliver the best product possible first before we scale up and do many more.

  • @madquest8
    @madquest8 4 года назад

    The terrain being in a fixed position is a downside, but the deciding factor is going to be the price. Since no plastic is used and its all paper and card I expect it to be a LOT cheaper than a similar set up with Warhammer 40k terrain. Will it be? I'd expect this to be about £50-60 max. If it isn't then you're better off getting the plastic buildings which offer more versatility with placement and way more durability.
