Lost of the changes in 2 are based alot on those Mods for the first game. Which I'm sure they are going to polish this up.

All that sewage flows downstream and, if you had an open-water at the end of the river, or lake, or something, it quickly turned brown. Later on (with mods / DLC) you could try to start 'cleaning that up' a bit, but only if you were able to and chose to unlock the tiles that led you to that body of water where it was all collecting. Otherwise you had this gorgeous view of your finely crafted city, skylines, mountains, and.. poop.

@@arcadeportal32 Yeah I mean that is PC gaming for you. Have to upgrade eventually. 1080 is pushing 7 years old. That said I think a 10 series card will be able to play the game in 1080p. I recently upgraded from a 2070 super to a 4070ti because I wanted to max out ray tracing in cyberpunks DLC. I looked up how much my 2070 super sells for and it can be bought for 150 on ebay. That seems like a really good deal considering that card handles pretty much everything besides overdrive ray tracing in cyberpunk. Even handled that game unoptimized before DLSS with ray tracing on without a problem.

I’d push back on the part about terrain doing weird things or cars clipping through roads and each other. This is sort of par for the course with CS1, so while it would have been nice to not have that in CS2, it certainly is not a deal breaker if you enjoy the CS1 experience

I played Skylines1 pretty casually just sort of experimenting with city building. I like that the new one adds some new features and streamlines water and electricity better but it also doesn't look super fleshed out yet. Maybe it just needs some more updates and dlc, Paradox will certainly roll those out, but when you release a new game especially a sequel you want to make it look like it's already a great experience. Think HoI4 vs 3 or Crusader Kings 3, even the new Victoria has much newer graphics and ui that could make it worth checking out for players of other games in the series or want to jump in with a more polished experience that is expected to grow.

‘Usually’ with Cities….there’s been ONE game, there is no ‘usually’. I honestly think they should have taken the extra time for the polish. Because Cities 1 did so well in recent history people are willing to give it a pass. But the improvement should have been more polish on initial release of the sequel, not the same level of polish. And mods (also known as free player labor) should not be a tool devs rely on.

Itll take a little bit for them to truly optimize this. The biggest thing is that the community needs to give it a little time and continue to support the game. There's enormous potential here, and i understand the devs were trying to get the game in players hands and put optimization a little on the backburner for the time. This is already an incredible game!

Agreed. My biggest hope is this isn't as big a flop as KSP2 was. This game looks super promising, and I know it's going to get better. But first impressions matter, and if this games flops, it may struggle to recover - more so with them moving some tools like modding off of steam (which I don't disagree/agree with) and starting off with poor performance. If they get modding off the ground fairly fast, it'll resolve alot of the prop issues which will allow more granular details people have pointed out are missing, but it's hard to optimize performance on a game with performance issues.

    • @jasonbfhfj8132

If we continue to support companies that do this then corporations are just going to keep pushing unfinished games. You understand that right? At some point we have to say enough is enough. Kerbal Space Program 2 is pulling this shit as well. They delayed that game like 4 years and it’s still garbage.

    • @Woj90

I guess the problem is that if you have the first one and have bought all the DLC for it, then there is currently no reason to buy the second one. If the second one makes no money then the devs can't justify sinking more money and time into it fixing it. Also, it seems like the second one is missing a lot of the content that had been added to the first as DLC, meaning now we the players get to re-buy the same content trickled out over years all over again.
