Thank you so much for the awesome directions on this. I am 70yrs and use to use a pressure cooker to can, but been many years ago. Yes I still worry about the pressure, but you assured me of not trouble. 😊👍. Again thank you and you were SUPER. Bonnie H. In Battle Creek, Mi. Peace 😊✌✌😎

I just purchased a duo nova and am making turkey chili tonight. Thank you so much for your clear instructions. They allowed me to jump right in and I am truly grateful!
Thank you! Yes I have a lot of recipes on my blog www.paintthekitchenred.com/recipes/ and a small subset as videos on my youtube channel: ruclips.net/user/PainttheKitchenRedvideos
Thank you. I have anxiety and when this thing started steaming I was sure it was going to explode. After watching your video I feel comfortable enough to use it now.
Thank you so much! This was awesome and exactly what I needed. I tried to read the manual and that thing is confusing 😂 this made it very simple for me to understand! I am attempting lasagna soup tonight with my instant pot!
Thank you so much! I’m so grateful for your videos. I’m still struggling with how to do a natural release with my Duo Nova...it defaults to Keep Warm when the cook time is over...and no steam releases...can you help me understand how to follow the recipe instruction to NR for 20 minutes and then QR? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are so welcome! To answer your question, to do a 20 minute natural release means to wait for 20 minutes after pressure cooking is done (i.e. the Instant Pot has been in Keep Warm mode for 20 minutes) and at that point, release any remaining pressure if the float valve is still up, by turning the steam release handle to 'Venting". What is the operating psi levels for the low pressure and the high pressure for the 8L/8qt Duo Nova? I am considering buying this model or the Instant Pot Pro. I appreciate the detailed explanation, thank you.
High Pressure (10.2 - 11.6 psi) Low Pressure (5.8 - 7.2 psi) From the Instant Pot website: "Instant Pot has a max working pressure of 15.23psi (105kpa). This is marked on the steam release handle, see the image on the top. One of the design objectives of Instant Pot is not to let out steam and make noise during its operation. So normal working pressure has to be below 15.23psi. Instant Pot’s working pressure is in the range of 10.15~11.6 psi. If you have small amount of food/liquid in the cooker, Instant Pot may touch 15.23psi momentarily due to the heat conduction delay." Hope that helps you
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thank you very for your reply, yes this does help. All the best to you and keep up the clear instructions. I looked for your two yoghurt recipes for the Instant pot, but I couldn't locate the recipes. Could you point me in the right direction? Thank you once again...Jo

I didn't do the water test and made beef stroganoff the first time. I think it worked --food was good but can I still do the water test? Thanks so much!
Hey Fenny, you probably don't need to do it since you had a good outcome with your recipe. But it's a great thing to keep in your back pocket. Any time your Instant Pot isn't operating properly, the water test is a great way to figure out if it was the recipe and/or ingredients causing your issue rather than something wrong with the IP.
It should stay in place when you push it down all the way - it's a spring-loaded mechanism that clicks. If it's not doing that then yes, I believe there's something wrong.
@@PainttheKitchenRed Me too. I kept looking but there is no replacement. I already contacted customer service. They were asking pictures of the broken part. Hope they can help with my problem. Thank you for replying.

It will say "On" until the float valve comes up, but should start counting down soon after the float valve comes up i.e. the Instant Pot is sealed. The Instant Pot can take quite a while to seal, depending on how much food you're cooking and the initial temperature of the food. Is your float valve up?
I have to admit that I’m one of those who bought the instant pot and haven’t used it. 🤦🏼♀️ I did some reading and it said cook the roast for 20 minutes per pound. My roast was almost 3 pounds so I programmed it for an hour. But when it started the count down time it was on 45 minutes. What did I do wrong. P.S. You were very good in explaining how to get started.
@@pamandharoldyates1120 hmmm, that doesn't sound right. If you program it for 60 minutes, the countdown should begin at 60 minutes. Try doing a water test and set it for 60 minutes (you can just cancel once it starts counting down). Use "pressure cook" and not one of the presets. If the problem happens again, you might need to contact the company. Best of luck.
@@PainttheKitchenRed it worked this time. That you for the suggestion. Your explanations were were clear and easy to understand. I’m glad I found your page.
You might be able to find parts on amazon or from the Instant Pot website. Hi there, it's not essential to have the condensation collector, just make sure you clean the counter and lip of the Instant Pot, especially after making pasta or messy foods.
Lynisha, personally I don't care much for the slow cook feature of the Instant Pot. It's fine, but not the best. If you use it make sure you don't use the 'Less' option, it's like a keep warm function and won't cook your food.
Austin, you don't need to use the multigrain button. Just use the pressure cook button. Timing will depend on the type of bean. Black rice can be cooked on high pressure for 22 minutes. Ratio of 1 cup rice to 1.5 cups water. If you do a google search, you can get more details.
@@austindyh2223 no, delay start is to start cooking at a later time. That's independent of pressure cooking. Some people use delay start to soak beans or rice for a bit before pressure cooking. I do not. Once you pressure cook on high pressure, let the pressure go down on its own i.e. natural release (Video: ruclips.net/video/sXmarvVGCRM/видео.html)
Diana, you can either pressure cook them for a few minutes on low pressure (the amount of time depends on how delicate the veggies are) or you can program the Instant Pot to pressure cook for a few minutes but leave the steam release handle in the venting position. Add water to the inner pot, place a steam basket above the water level on a trivet, and place the vegetables in the basket.
Patti, I usually pressure cook russet potatoes for 18 to 20 minutes (depending on the size), on a rack, with about 2 cups of water below the level of the rack. Then you can broil to crisp up the skin if you wish. I usually don't bother to do that.
