    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget

      I use the DUO all the time. The Ultra just makes certain things easier like it automatically seals the lid when you close it. And you can set it to a specific temperature for sous vide. If those features don't matter to you the DUO is just fine.

      The primary reason I picked the Ultra version over the Duo is because I can do sous vide. I love that idea that I don't have to buy a special souz vide heater to play with a couple times a year.

      Lucky you.I tried to be a 240 v model for Aus from iPhone uk, no go as thru Amazon which did not export to Aus, so ended up with mini ultra at huge shipping from USA and then a voltage convertor of great weight and cost and 18months later just cooking with it . Meanwhile Amazon slyly exported 240 volts to Aus last year. But the IP ultra is beautiful.

    Never use the optional Instant Pot Crisp +Airfry lid on this particular model or MAX model of Instant Pot. There is a secondary heat sensor near the top of the pot that could be ruined and your Instant Pot will no longer be able to sous vide. It's perfectly safe to use the crisping air fry lid on all other models of Instant Pot since they lack a sous vide mode and secondary heat sensor.

    Anyone else notice the chrome strip on the lid of the instant pot ultra looking different? Mines started to look a bit off after 6 months use. I hardly wash the lid too. One day out of no where, I noticed the strip looked bubbly like air bubble inside. I pushed down on it and it made this crinkly sound so right then I knew it’s obviously not metal but more like a sticker. Upon looking closely I noticed a small tear which also ended up peeling off and revealing plastic underneath! For the amount I spent to purchase for this pot, I’m pretty shocked as I expected something of better quality!

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget
      @LivingRichlyonaBudget  5 лет назад +1

      When you close the lid on the Ultra, it locks automatically. When the pot is done cooking, do a quick release by pressing the button on the lid, to release the steam pressure. When the pin drops, you can open the lid. Or wait for a natural release, which means wait for the pot to naturally release the steam which could take a few minutes or longer. Then when the pin drops, you can open the lid.

    Thanks I’m totally lost having switched from the crock pot I bought the ultra but since everyone else had the older pots I have had no luck trying to find out how to use it. I make a soup but I want to make roasts and potato and stuff and there’s just a real lack of simple directions. I dont know how to make potatoes carrots and meat together without the potatoes being mush. I used to just throw everything in the crock pot and leave it all day. I want to get it out again but I feel dumb because I have this fancy pot and don’t know how to use it . I’ll search your channel hopefully it’ll help lol. Thanks

      I haven’t made roasts in it yet but if those dishes are easier in the crockpot then use your crockpot for that. For me, the Instant Pot is easier for soups, popcorn, and steaming things.

    What is the lowest temperature in sous vid mode? I need to cook something at exactly 100 degrees Fahrenheit and I need to know if I can set it to that. I suppose I could use slow cook mode too. What is the lowest possible temperature in both of those modes? Thanks so much.

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget

      Looks like 104 degrees F is the lowest setting for Sous vide or slow cooker mode.

    I don't understand about the venting feature on the top. When pressure cooking, the cooker seals and then emits a constant stream of steam. Did I miss part of the instruction. Is it supposed to keep putting our steam? And the timer hasn't even started yet.

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget
      @LivingRichlyonaBudget  4 года назад +1

      The vent may let out a little steam before going under pressure. But it shouldn’t be a constant stream of steam. You might want to check that your sealing ring is snug. If it has problems going under pressure or is constantly steaming throughout cooking then contact Instant Pot for further help.

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget

      Good question! I have heard people had bad experiences with the rice button mode so I just use the manual button, with 5 minutes cook time and at least 10 mins natural release. You are welcomed to try the rice mode and see how it goes.

    I have an Ultra and I'm not quite getting something... I have tried to set the pot to low pressure to cook hard boiled eggs. Whether I’m in Pressure Cook or Egg mode I have the same issue…. I choose the mode and set it, I then set the time I want, and then try to set the pot to low pressure. I can get it the setting to bounce back and forth between high and low, but when I try to leave it on low the pot returns the setting to high. What’s going on and how do I get it to stay on low pressure? Thanks!

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget

      The lid needs to be off so you are doing it correctly. The saute mode is timed for 30 minutes so if yours is shutting off before that, try contacting Instant Pot for a replacement.
