Thank you for your video. I purchased this same unit and used it several times and never looked at the internal workings myself. Your video has saved me time so I can continue cooking and making meals for my family. Also looking forward to videos of you using this model. I have one request. I have not seen any video on how to make Yogurt easy. If you have the time it would help me out. Sincerely a father who likes to cook for his family.
Thanks for commenting! Glad to help out. I've put yogurt on my list. I'm a bit slow in creating vids but will try to get to it soon!
Thank you so so much. I appreciate your time
Aww, you're so welcome!
I’ve never owned or used a pressure cooker before. I was and still am a bit intimidated. Thank you for this video. I successfully did the water test lol
Glad it was helpful!
Very good information in this video. I actually like the simplicity of this model. And of course, as often as these go on sale, it is hard to beat the price at less than $70.00.
Thank you! I think it's a steal at that price. Glad you were able to snag one!
@@PainttheKitchenRed They had a whole bunch of them there, enough for everybody. They certainly weren't flying off the shelves. I actually think they increased production significantly due to people cooking at home instead of eating out, resulting in the temporary surplus. I think these were really marked down like they do turkey on Thanksgiving; more of a good will gesture from Instant Pot. :)
Excellent review
Thank you!
For the water test shouldn't we remove the silicone cover on the float valve? I did remove it. After so long my instant pot never did the count down. The steam stopped. No idea what I did wrong. Help?
Thank you so much !
You're welcome!
Thank you!

Thank you, I can't find the book that explained the water test. It's somewhere in all the Christmas mess...lol. this demo was exactly what I was looking for!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much
You're most welcome!
I’m a new subscriber and a new Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus owner. Your presentations are so well done and easy to follow. Do you ever use the Sous Vide function? I’ve done a quick search on your channel but don’t see a demonstration. Perhaps you could do one? Thanks!
Hi Bonnie, thanks for that! I do have a blog post with a lot of step by step photos for sous vide. It has a short video on it too. I hope you find it useful.
www.paintthekitchenred.com/how-to-use-the-instant-pot-sous-vide-smart-program/
Thank you
You're welcome, any time!
Thank you so much for this video because I was a bit apprehensive about opening the lid after the float valve was down...when I began to open it I didn’t get the cool little open jingle, Instead it went *beep, beep, beep* and “LID” flashed on the screen. That made me think STOP! Don’t open it yet!...even though the float value had been down for 45 minutes. Why did this happen?
I did go ahead and remove the lid, but not until the third attempt!
Glad you found the video to be helpful. That's odd - did you possibly have the Saute function on while the lid was on? If it's a one-time thing, you're probably fine. If it continues to happen, you might need to contact the company.
The quick cool tray is now available online from instant pot. 70% less time to cool down. My pet peeve is a long cool down time when is cook with strong smelling food, with meat, turmeric, aromatics, curry, etc. Only available online.
Thanks for the info! I had been checking for ages and then gave up :)
Can you go over the yogurt settings for duo evo plus. ( all other recipes state to have at Normal temperature for fermentation but this setting only has low or high option?)
Maria, when you select "Yogurt", you should be able to turn the knob to "Pasteurize" or "Ferment" - no need to select temperature.
Hi loved your video 😋😋😋😋😋. Is it possible to explain the cold start method for yogurt in the duo evo plus ip because there’s no normal setting it’s either high or low,so please can u help me .? Thanks 🙏 alot
Amy, thanks for your question. With the cold start method, you don't pasteurize. You just ferment and that's the 'normal' setting in other models. On the Evo, you'll select 'yogurt' and turn the knob to 'ferment'.
Thanks a lot for replying,, this is what I did , and I put it on high not low. Just wanted to make sure. You are awesome 👍👍👍👍👍👍
You say to turn the lid counterclockwise to initially close it; do you not mean clockwise? I suppose if you are inside the pot it would be counter..... thanks so much! Great video!
Sorry but yes, it's clockwise to close it. I have no way of changing the video so I've made a note in the video notes. Thank you!
When I wash the lid do I take off all the small parts and wash them separately.I don't have a dish washer.
Mary, I don't clean out the small parts every time, just when I cook something really messy and there are food particles all over the inside. (I use the basket in my dishwasher to make sure I don't lose the little parts.) Otherwise, I just remove the sealing ring and put lid and sealing ring in the top rack of the dishwasher.
Good evening. Sorry, I‘m from
Italy. I want to buy this model, but can you tell me if the internal pot of the Instant Pot Duo, the one without handles, is compatible with this new model? thanks.
Sara, although I love this model and it's become my new favorite since my Ultra died on me, one of the few disadvantages of this model is you can't interchange the Duo, Ultra, Lux inner pots with this model. Please safe and healthy during these trying times.
Paint the Kitchen Red thank you! You were very kind! good luck to you too in this difficult period 😘❤️
I was doing the water test and it got to keep warm mode and started counting up but after 14 min there was still no steam. I shut it off. It seems like it's not working right. Any suggestions
Sorry, I didn't see this before. Did you get it figured out? Steam should have come out before it got to keep warm and before counting DOWN. Let me know if you're still having issues.
Good evening, please tell me how to set the temperature for baking a biscuit?
The bake function on this model (duo evo plus) takes a lot longer than a normal oven bake. I have not tried to bake biscuits in this model, but I would use the same temperature as your oven recipe, but cook for longer.
Hi, after first use of my duo evo, the anti block shield comes off easily using my fingers.. is it normal?
As long as it stays in place, you should be fine. If it's too loose, the spring-like metal keeping it in place probably has been stretched out.
Red seal is just an extra or does it have a different application
Just an extra. I have a separate sealing ring for desserts and the color helps keep track of that.
Water test pass doesn't mean nothing wrong. My ultra passed water test but failed when cooking, the dynamics of the pressure changes and it couldn't handle the load. Problem was with pressure release mechanism and it took me giving instant pot choice of sending lid or whole pot after long dance with them. They sent lid and everything is fine now.
That must have been so frustrating. Glad you got it resolved. You're right, water test doesn't mean nothing's wrong but it can catch obvious problems. Thanks for sharing :)
Can you tell me, please, is the countdown from 5 to 1 supposed to be rapid? My countdown is quite gradual, with what seems like a few minutes between each number counting down. Thank you.
The countdown from 5 to 1 is actually 5 minutes.
@@PainttheKitchenRed Thank you; that makes total sense. You can tell I'm a newbie to the Instant Pot LOL
@@margaret2383 we were all newbies at one time or another :)
This might sound dumb but can you use insta pot right after doing the water test or should I wait? Thanks
No question is dumb, because if you're asking, others are thinking it too! Yes, you can start cooking as soon as the water test is done. If, by chance, you end up having an issue, take the sealing ring out and stick it in the freezer for a minute or two.
Awesome thank you so much for taking thr time to answer. I just got one for Christmas and was so scared to use it. Your video was helpful and reassuring that it will be okay. Again thank you. 😊
Auntie, I have not been able to close my lid because you said to close it counter-clockwise.
Beta, try it clockwise :) I misspoke!
Can someone help me... my instant pot stays stuck in preheat. Have washed the lid + New ring. Still does not go in pressure mode.. What can I do?
You might need to contact the company if you've done the water test and it doesn't seal.
I didn't do the water test before using it. I used it 3 times, do i have to do it or not?
If you're using it fine, then you don't need to do the water test right now. But keep it in your toolkit for when and if you have any issues. When people have issues with their Instant Pot sealing, I tell them to do a water test to eliminate other problems such as the recipe itself, ingredients, amount of liquid, etc. Hope that makes sense.
How do you do a natural release, say for 10 minutes?
Nancy, here's an article I wrote about it that you might find helpful:
www.paintthekitchenred.com/instant-pot-natural-release-or-quick-release/
You just wait for 10 minutes and do a quick release.
So the red ring is a replacement?
Yes, it's an extra sealing ring. You can save it or use it when you make a sweet dish/dessert.
Hi, can I turn the peeping sound off? Thx
"Press Cancel. The display should say Off, press and hold the knob for 5 seconds.
When the sound icon (microphone) starts blinking, turn the knob to toggle between sound On and Off.
Press and hold the knob for 5 seconds to confirm your selection."
From: www.paintthekitchenred.com/instant-pot-duo-evo-plus-buttons-and-smart-programs/
How do you do a reset on this model?
Try this: press and hold the Cancel button until you hear a beep. Hope that works for you.
Do you have a biriyani recipe?
I have a lamb biryani recipe. You can make it with chicken too. No youtube video though, sorry.
www.paintthekitchenred.com/best-instant-pot-biryani-lamb/
@@PainttheKitchenRed thank you kindly
I don’t like how long it takes to preheat and become pressurized because you have to takes that into consideration with cooking time. If the recipe states cook for 10 minutes and it takes 10 minutes to preheat and become pressurized then you can over cook your food.
You are right that the total time is more than the "cook time" indicates and that is a surprise for those who are new to the Instant Pot. However, the preheat time is calculated into the pressure cooking time that recipes call for. e.g. if a recipe says to pressure cook for 10 minutes, that 10 minutes begins AFTER pressurization. So overcooking should not be an issue.
Paint the Kitchen Red so while the food is in the cooker and it displays preheating, the food is not actually being cooked during that time? Is that correct what you are saying?
@@9929kingfish That is correct. Think of it like an oven preheating. Also, that time varies based on the quantity of food in the Instant Pot. So if you have a full container of e.g. soup the preheating can take 20 to 30 minutes. Many people start by adding warm or hot liquid to give the preheating a head start. I generally don't do this because I just set it and go about doing other stuff. But it's good for when you're short on time. Hope that helps.
