THE FIFTH ELEMENT MOVIE REACTION | 0:00 - 30:10
THE FIFTH ELEMENT MOVIE REVIEW | 30:11 - 33:19
The Fifth Element Movie Description:
In the 23rd century, a New York City cabbie, Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), finds the fate of the world in his hands when Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his cab. As the embodiment of the fifth element, Leeloo needs to combine with the other four to keep the approaching Great Evil from destroying the world. Together with Father Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) and zany broadcaster Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker), Dallas must race against time and the wicked industrialist Zorg (Gary Oldman) to save humanity.
The Fifth Element[b] is a 1997 English-language French science fiction action film directed by Luc Besson and co-written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen from a story by Besson. It stars Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, and Milla Jovovich. Primarily set in the 23rd century, the film's central plot involves the survival of planet Earth, which becomes the responsibility of Korben Dallas (Willis), a taxicab driver and former special forces major, after a young woman (Jovovich) falls into his cab. To accomplish this, Dallas joins forces with her to recover four mystical stones essential for the defence of Earth against the impending attack of a malevolent cosmic entity.
Besson started writing the story that became The Fifth Element when he was 16 years old; he was 38 when the film opened in cinemas. Besson wanted to shoot the film in France, but suitable facilities could not be found; filming took place in London and Mauritania, instead. Comics artists Jean "Moebius" Giraud and Jean-Claude Mézières, whose books provided inspiration for parts of the film, were hired for production design. Costume design was by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
The Fifth Element received mainly positive reviews, although it tended to polarise critics. The film won in categories at the British Academy Film Awards, the César Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Lumières Awards, but also received nominations at the Golden Raspberry and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. The Fifth Element was a financial success, earning more than $263 million at the box office on a $90 million budget. At the time of its release, it was the most expensive European film ever made, and remained the highest-grossing French film at the international box office until the release of The Intouchables in 2011.

This Was An Epic Sci-fi Film! The Creativity In The 90s Was Something Else...
Thank you for this! I appreciate the reaction so much! It means a lot to me. I'm definitely gonna throw you some money on Patreon, as soon as I get my money right.
A good follow up to this is Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets. Similar sci-fi.
@@tjhorne82 I was SO disappointed with Valerian! Had such high hopes! Did you like it?
@@roddo1955 it had it's good parts. There were disappointing parts to it I will admit, but won't mention them in case we get a reaction to it. Ha. More specifically I was thinking about the comparison of the way the aliens and everything is portrayed similar to 5th Element
Fun fact, Mila and the director created the language for her on pure improvisation 😄
Chris Tucker being over the top is what makes it funny.
And extremely memorable.
even Bruce Willis couldnt keep a straight face, they had to keep doing that intro scene over and over until Bruce could force a straight face.
This is a sci fi farce. If he acted like a 90's straight black male, it wouldn't fit this movie at all. He is clearly doing a Prince/ Morris Day inspired performance and that was understood perfectly when this movie came out
Absolutely. I liked this eccentric character for this role. It was hilarious and it’s high energy played well against Corbin’s dryness.
He perfectly balances out Jackie Chan in the Rush Hour trilogy
The "Divine Language", spoken by Leeloo, was invented by co-writer and director Luc Besson, and further refined by Milla Jovovich, who had little trouble learning and developing it, as she was already fluent in four languages. The language had only four hundred words. He and Milla Jovovich held conversations, and wrote letters to each other in the language as practice. By the end of filming, they were able to have full conversations in this language. (credit to whoever first posted this on iMDB's trivia page for this movie)
that sounds like ultimate bullshit.why couldnt she just talk giberish ????
@@dotaplayer6768 Same reason why Klingon was invented, because the people wanted too.
@@MultiBoxingKid i really really really dont like star trek, but i understand why klingon is matter of cult.but there is no cult for 1 movie like fifth element.make up new language just for that is super dumb and ridicioulus
@@dotaplayer6768 I mean, they also made a new language for “Star Fox Adventures”, they even had the alphabet for it in the manual. And even the elvish language from “Lord of the Rings” is an actual language too, created by the author. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter if it’s a cult thing or not, sometimes creators just want to make something new.
@@MultiBoxingKid dude again lord of the rings trilogy is considered the best books ever.wasting all that time for minor projects is like - i will give u million gold if u run 500 metres in 3 hours.and u would run in that 3 hours 40 kilometres-no point
Fun fact: Luc Besson wanted Prince for the Chris Tucker rol, but when Prince got the designs and concepts for the character, he declined because he felt the wardrobe was too fem. There you go. You're thoughts and instincts were on point regarding Prince and this character. A classic film. Saw it in theaters when it was out. It was a blast and still a fun watch. Glad you enjoyed it!
Too fem for Prince?!? That's rich..
@@DocJerky prince could have walked around with a lacy pink g-string top and bottom, and he was still more of a ladies man than any guy in these replies. both of his wives were gorgeous.
Wasn't Prince into challenging gender stereotypes?
@@mrtb7676 It's always funny when people freak out about men messing with gender these days. It's been around for decades & we always love it.
@@d3l3tes00n the same folks mad about it now admired Prince and Bowie when they were doing it
I understand why the Chris Tucker performance was so polarizing (because it's so extreme every single second), but I honestly think that's the genius of it. Given the extreme stuff that current entertainers and internet-celebrities do to try and keep the public watching, it makes perfect sense that in the future it will be even MORE absurd and relentless.
Would I wanna spend a whole movie with Tucker's character? Hell no. Do I think he offers the perfect garnish to the bigger story in this film? Absolutely. :)
Exactly. He was the future of the extreme, obnoxious celebrity. I’d say the movie predicted things well, and he was great in the role!
I mean, 20+ years later we have people doing murder pranks on youtube for fame. I honestly think we've already reached that "future" part of tuckers persona, the only step up from that is literally having presidents do a voting show to going to war/bombing some random place for all of us to see.
Yeah, and i nver heard that specific criticism of black people being put in dresses for this movie but its a stupid complaint anyway because comedians have always done crap like that. I can remember three stooges episodes with them in dresses, Jerry Lewis doing cross dressing, and obviously we get to Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire. Like Melo said, some people just want something to bitch about even if its made up.
Not to typecast a person, but, this movie was made when Chris Tucker was the hot thing for a fast talking annoying sidekick. He umm, kinda has a thing, and he does it very well. No idea why the dress thing came up. It's well known that Gaultier himself teased Tucker with even worse outfits during the production of the movie. I am pretty sure everyone involved in this movie had a lot of fun making it.
I mean, Ruby Rhod was a radio host. Have the critics of his performance ever heard a radio morning show!? He's extreme, sure, but that's the entire point!
Ugh I still can’t believe how amazing Jean-Paul Gaultier did on the costumes in this movie. He made Leeloo look i 👏🏻con👏🏻ic👏🏻!!!
Yesssssss this movie is FASHION. It's so French! It is haute couture and kitsch all rolled into as brilliant sci fi movie
Man, I remember buying one of his denim shirts in the 90s. It was stunning. Most beautiful shirt I ever bought. Paid about £270 for it, and it was worth every penny.
Greatest designer ever
@@TheRetroManRandySavage You got issues.
@@roddo1955 Its also great world building, because when you consider how much fashion changes in just a decade, try to imagine what people would be wearing in 200 years
Chris Tuckers performance is one of the greatest things about this movie, anyone who says otherwise needs a multi-pass...
Absolutely Love this film, it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not and has fun the entire time.
I love this film and never understood the hate it and Chris Tucker gets, I loved Chris' performance gotta shout out that random cameo from the legend that is Lee Evans as the "Where'd he learn to negotiate" nervous hotel worker.
chris was downright annoying, like hurting ears annoying.... as far as the movie getting hate, i never saw a lot of that... this movie has a ton of fans
Chris Tucker's character was definitely eccentric and feminine and odd. But so was the deaf celebrity white guy in a dress. There are some critics that just have a bigotry of their own....because they can't see that the entire movie was making it out as everybody being a different subculture from what Korbin Dallas was (and what the male audience of the 90s would expect in their present day) . In truth, it is refreshing that you don't have just one black character that needs to be perfect as a representative for an entire race in a movie..... and rather you've got multiple individuals from the criminal henchman to the eccentric entertainer to the galactic president where being black is their least interesting feature. They're all individuals, and you can like them or dislike them as individuals rather than being a test for the infallibility of an entire racial category.
I don't care for Tucker anymore after I found out he took a trip or 2 on Epsteins jet
I think it's because the movie is just really over the top and wacky. The first time me and my parents watched it we turned it off after 20 minutes, but now that I'm older I love it. As for Chris Tucker, a little less screaming would be great.
I love this movie and I've never met a person who hated it. I judge people who hate this movie because it is so good. Sure, Chris Tucker is annoying but still hilarious. This is one of the movies I quote the most.
"Man this dude sweatin like he just took the whole neighborhood's bikes." -That is the funniest shit I've heard all week.
I've had two bikes stolen in my adult life. Both were gifted to me. Such a bummer.
Oh yeah, Willis broke character multiple times during that hallway mugging scene. The laugh and smile was genuine.
This and many other films have convinced me that Gary Oldman can play anyone/anything... love me some Gary Oldman.
dude is brilliant
I'd never heard any negative about Chris in this movie.
Everyone played their role amazingly well.
I have.
They’re mostly people who wanted this to be a more serious movie than it was.
It’s a screwball comedy action movie… IN SPACE!
I have no idea where they get that from. No one moaned about his performance. But you know how it is these days. There are always some kid that wasn't born yet back then that think they know everything. They should rather comment on the crap they churn out today. Stop talking about shit they don't know shit about.
Same! Me and my friends would just talk about how funny he was when discussing this movie.
I can see how he could be annoying to people, but I've always loved this role.
me either, never knew chris's part sparked controversy; that must be something that came years later when people got more sensitive
Chris Tucker is amazing in this movie, easily my favorite role of his. He's the perfect amount of crazy for it and still has flawless comedic timing.
The director is French.
His movie "(Leon) The Professional" set new standards for realistic/dark action movies like John Wick did in this decade.
And I don't get the hate for Tucker either. His role is realistic in that eccentric human celebrities in a world of aliens would have to be even weirder than they are today.
I agree with everything you said there.
Mello actually did a video on Leon a little bit ago. I wonder if he's made the connection.
Run Lola Run is a favorite, too
The whole movie is french as it's indicated in the description box.
At the time of its release, it was the most expensive European film ever made, and remained the highest-grossing French film at the international box office until the release of The Intouchables in 2011.
your take on Chris' performance is 100%. He did amazing. Everyone seemed to really into becoming their characters.
One of my all time favorites. Know every line by heart. It's so quotable.
Cam down, meat popsicle.
Leeloo Dallas Multipass.
This may be the movie I quote the most, and I make movie references often.
Aaaaaaaauto-washhhhhh...
I never even heard of Chris Tucker until this and after this, I actively sought him out in any movie. Rush Hour for instance. He's one of the funniest parts of a fun movie. And, imo, he plays it EXACTLY like he should for an over the top radio show host with that tech. Love him, love the movie, re-watch it whenever I can. Good times.
Well, that's something. Especially since I thought everyone were already familiar with Chris, even after watching his movies over the years (myself included). I guess there's still some that are now catching up. lol
Probably my favorite Chris Tucker role.Milla is amazing and Bruce was Bruce.
I've watched this hundreds of times and I still get goosebumps when the diva does her thing. Truly amazing scene with the opera and Leeloo fighting.
From what I understand Prince was meant to be considered for the part originally and yeah Chris Tucker nailed it as Ruby
Man this is one of the most unique and fun movies ever made. It was perfect for its time, lightning in a bottle that just works. Its rare to see a movie like this these days
This was the time of OPULENCE everybody had money(on credit) and looked like a star.
Chris Tucker is hilarious in this movie, but his performance got him a Golden Raspberry award for Worst Supporting Actor. Either way, I like him.
His performance was hilarous..People just go out there way to find drama.

A classic for sure 👌🏾
I fully agree, one of the best
LOVED THIS MOVIE SINCE I FIRST WATCHED IT AT 5 YEARS OLD WHEN IT PREMIERED. This is such a campy film that deserves so much respect on behalf of all the major actors, costume designers and set designers and director! I dressed up as Ruby Rhod for Halloween a few years ago lol
This is in my top 5 movies of all time, frankly, probably top 3...
Chris Tucker is my favorite part of this movie, it would have worked without him but it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good.
He was on point every frame he was in. Just perfect
Chris tuckers best performance 👏 🙌🏻
Naw, Friday. AND YOU KNOW THIS, MAN!
I think it's one of the best Chris Tucker's performances. No matter how many times I watch the movie, it's always like the first time just because of him. He's made the movie just pop. And his looks were ahead of there time. So glamorous.
Also, if anyone hasn't figured it out yet, love is the 5th element. It's proved by how Bruce's character had to say he loves her to activate the power.
Mel, I can't say enough how much I appreciate you for reacting to this and I agree 100% about Tucker's character, he did amazing and haters gonna hate.
Stay awesome man! And thank you again, so much!
I don’t know, I still think the 5th element is a genetically enhanced super being, but I guess it’s activated by love so…
ohh-i thought it was heart--GO PLANET :P
"Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Heart."
"By your elements combined, I am Captain Planetary Defense!"

Yes, the fifth element is clearly "love."
The opera singer Plava Laguna made it clear [foreshadowing] in her death scene:
"She needs your help ... AND your **Love**."
@@MGmirkin hahaha yes! Captain Planetary Defense! They're our hero!
My best friend and me dragged his wife to see this movie, she had no interest in seeing it. Well she was laughing so hard during the movie that she thanked us for getting her out of the house.
A friend of mine hates everything I suggest when it comes to movies. But with this I put my foot down. She was rolling her eyes, talking through the first 5 minutes to annoy me and tell me how stupid I am for liking stupid movies, then she went quiet, then she laughed and from then on all I heard was:"this is so cool/wow/omg haaaaahahaha" and then she said; I did not expect to like this movie but it was great. And she picked up on all the different themes in the movie. I was proud of her because she was nightmare to watch films with.
One of my favorite behind the scenes facts about this movie. The opera singer alien is actually the directors wife. She wasn't originally the singer the person hired got Pneumonia bad and couldn't do the film so when they brought her out as the replacement nobody else in the cast knew their reactions in close up shots during her solo were genuine reactions to her for real singing.
Instant click, this is one of my all-time favorite movies. I quote it far too often, like so much that even *I* know how annoying I am (that clarity is a rarity for me). I can't wait to see how you react to Chris Tucker's reveal.
There are others like you don’t worry you aren’t alone lol. My favorites are “Lelu Dallas multi pass” and pretty much every line Chris tucker has.
Chris Tucker is easily the best part of this movie. Dude is hilarious. I can easily see why a certain type of person could have a problem with him in this movie though lol, but that’s related to politics today and has nothing to do with his race. Never heard about anyone having problems with him back when the movie came out, but if it was more of a race thing, I was most likely never going to hear about it.
he dressed feminin but got tones of girls.

Personally, I love Chris Tucker in this. He is giving it 110% - I think folks just got the wrong idea about what they were going for with that character
Honestly I think it was probably a really fun role to play.
If anyone didn't / doesn't get what they were going for with that character, they're deaf, blind, and dumb. Just saying... Clearly, the "Prince" equivalent of a radio Shock Jock...
And it was 110% PERFECT...
Absolutely love Chris Tucker in this movie, think he plays it prefect.
Gary Oldman is like a chameleon. He always looks different in a movie. Also Chris Tucker's role was actually supposed to be played by Prince himself
I never had a problem with Chris Tucker's performance in this film. He's hilarious.
Chris Tucker's performance of Ruby Rod in The Fifth Element is fantastic! Watching this reaction reminds me of how he kind of steals the show from Bruce Willis even.
Honestly I've never really heard of people having an issue with Chris Tucker. On the contrary, really, everyone I know that loves 5th Element loves Ruby Rhod
Clicked as fast as I could lmao you're gonna love this movie!
You know what, Mello, the fact you recognised Lee Evans in this movie - one of his early and few film roles, for that matter - makes you A-okay in my book. As a Brit, Evans is a goddamn national treasure, and it is so gratifying whenever I see him get legit notice out in the world. ;)
I only know him from something about Mary. And I always loved him in that movie. I always assumed he was American, and the British voice he puts on as the architect is the act, and norm is his real voice. I mean I guess I’m just describing the plot at this point. Whatever, he is great. I want to see more of him now.
@@kf8346 - there was a time when he was constantly doing arena tours and live specials, but he's basically retired now. He never totally cracked Hollywood OR British TV due to him being primarily associated with screwball/slapstick stuff like Norman Wisdom or Jerry Lewis before him, which is kind of sad, but personal favourites of mine are his early live shows from the 90s, his lead role in MouseHunt opposite Nathan Lane and playing Prof Malcolm Taylor in one of the Doctor Who specials.

This is one of my can always watch movies. Glad to see you enjoyed it. I never knew there was controversy with this Chris Tucker performance. I originally saw this in theaters and it was fantastic. One of my favorite Bruce Willis Roles too to be honest. On a personal note, hope you're doing well you seemed a bit less exuberant today (whenever you filmed this) - hope all is well.
I’m so, so glad that you enjoyed the film, particularly how much you enjoyed the world building and design. I love the performances here, and Chris Tucker is an utter icon. A 90s classic!
Chris Tucker should have won an oscar for his performance. He is easily the most memorable part of this movie.
Chris Tucker’s character was my absolute favorite in this movie! This was a favorite!
Bruce has always been good with comedy all the way back to the “Moonlighting” days. Another of his comedic action roles that I always liked but many gave a bad rap was the movie “Hudson Hawk”. 👍🏻

I, for one, thoroughly enjoy Tucker's turn as Ruby Rhod. Dude is such an overconfident weenie it's hilarious! The Prince comparison is a good one, I never thought about that before.
As I understand it, the gag was to take the typical preening, screaming female character and make them male and frankly, Tucker does such a great job with the character
One of the most memorable movies from the late 90s. Great fun watch. I loved Chris tucker in this one. I never knew there was any controversy. Rare to see a movie nail almost every aspect of the concept of a campy sci-fi comedy action movie and just get everything so right. In a word perfect.
This movie is 25 years old by now...and it still looks so good and I still love to watch it multiple times a year :)
I think Tucker's character is freakin hilarious. yeah, the screaming can be considered annoying, but I think he nailed it. To me, this is the only good live-action anime. Which is hilarious cuz it's not based on an anime.

Tucker as Rod was brilliant. Rod is my favourite character in this film. He's just himself, and he's not ashamed of it, and he tells everyone around him to be themselves as well.
Despite having only 5 minutes of screen time, Luke Perry was given the "and" spot in the opening credits.

This movie was my comfort movie when I was in school. I pretended to be sick so I could stay home and watch it several days in a row. I love love love this movie. For what it is, it’s perfect. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and as long as people watch it for the laughs and don’t go crazy over analyzing it then they’ll like it too.
Just for yourself, rewatch this movie. Reason: you made the point during the tri-way scene between the pilots, ruby rod, and the conversation with zerg, on how it all intertwined. I would say a good 75% of the movie is just like that. Lots of the conversations are set to ironic visuals that compliment and insult each other to create jokes and gags that just keep on coming. awesome stuff!
I think it was maybe my 3rd of 4th watch that I started realizing how intertwined everything was. Like Zorg talking about firing extra cab guys just to do it and then Dallas gets fired a few scenes later, it was maybe my 6thvwatch when I realized that. I've probably seen this movie over 30 times at this point. It was my favorite since my teenage years and it helped me through a dark depression in my mid 20s, at that point I was watching it every couple weeks..
@@soulance8342 Same here to a lot of what you said...took me a few re-watches to even get the idea that i needed to pay more attention to it than your average movie. The creativity on display here, not only with visually linking scenes to dialogue, but with what I know as puzzle-craft in world-building. Dropping little seemingly-unrelated bits of information while one story is happening that end up, in a big way, effecting the overall story arc. For me, I was a failing writing before being introduced to this type of visual story telling, and that had me in my own dark place to be sure. But seeing this...gave me drive to actually want to study something, to actually take class. One class lead to another and it was like a path leading me out of that funk.

I really love this channel because it really doesn't give a damn about what's trending but instead cares about what we watched in those days
The only thing I don't love about this movie is that it wouldn't be until years later that Milla Jovovich would show how truly awesome she could be at movie fights in the Resident Evil series of films.
Milla also does music, a folksy trippy style with mandolins, "the Divine Comedy". I saw her perform for a concert in Jacksonville, she was pretty wasted lol.
Gary Oldman based his character off of Ross Perot, little southern man trying to rule the galaxy.
I miss Ross Perot.
What a entertaining fellow.
That would be difficult to accept.... given that Jean-Baptiste Zorg doesn't have the same accent as Perot... and Perot wasn't really southern; he was from Texas. However.....perhaps you and I disagree on the precise definition of "southern man".
@@laertesindeed We definitely disagree as I can see three problems. Texas is southern, Texans may say something different but it is as far south as you can go in that region. Second I said based off of not a direct imitation. Third southern man can mean a lot of things, especially when it is man from the UK playing a fictional character from the future.
You could say I am being nit picky, but that is kinda the whole point of your post.
@@themadmonk6700 So you have revealed part of the problem. You have a very unorthodox, and inaccurate, definition of the term "southern man" that would not be understood by anyone below the mason-dixon line. The description of "southern man" is not a geography lesson...it is an identification of a subculture with habits and behaviors and expectations and customs and shared metaphors and historical reactions, etc. I wish Tim Wilson was still alive....because he could explain the differences. Someone living in Arizona does not have the "southern" subculture nor accent just because it is geographically closer to the equator than Kansas. Nor does someone born and raised in Texas have the "southern" subculture or accent. Frelling frell, even people living in Miami don't have the "southern" subculture or accent and they are considerably more geographically south than the south. Secondly, no...it cannot be "based on" something that it doesn't resemble in the slightest. It seems very much like there was some strange situation where someone doing a Welsh accent in a movie was described by you as Cockney.....and when someone speaks up to object to your error; you just shrug and say "close enough....they're both south of Scotland" as if that should excuse it.
@@laertesindeed Not really, I don't see a problem. He has absolutely stated in interviews he based this character off of a mix of Ross Perot and Bugs Bunny. You can look it up. He got the mannerisms, the strange expressions, and odd speech patterns down very well. It's a movie, so of course it is exaggerated. If you don't see it then you are one of the few, the scientific term being willfully ignorant. The accent is 100% accurate for a "southern man" in 2263. I would be happy to see the evidence that this is incorrect.
So you aren't debating the Fifth Element you are desperately trying to turn this into something about southern culture. Which isn't as interesting to talk about.
This movie was the first time I saw a film and KNEW the director was just having fun. And it made it so much more awesome to know this is such a passion project. I love this!
Let's face it, the director was having fun, IN BED WITH MILLA JOJOVICH. Which I absolutely can NOT blame him for.
Tucker played the part he wanted to. He done something most actors can't and I reckon he enjoyed it. All credit to the bloke.
Leelou Dallas Multipass. Multiiii-paaassss
She knows! It's a multi-pass
One of my favorite mf movies!
I've loved this movie since it's release and never gets old. It was exactly that, Campy, but so futuristically stylish with great music and action.
Fun Fact, there's an Interview on RUclips with the Actress/Model who played The Diva (Plava Lagunà) on all the behind Scenes training, costume work , etc ... She had to do for just that 1 performance.
I love the world building and how fun and colorful it is. Did you know the costume designer made over a thousand costumes for the cast and extras?
The only dudes yelling about Chris Tucker's performance in this, were ENVIOUS because they couldn't imagine being that free. They hate cuz they ain't.
My only real issue with this movie is just how forced everything about the romantic relationship between Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich felt. It would be a top sci-fi movie for me without that aspect.
Unrelated, but I'd like to recommend movies that really show the craziness of Nicolas Cage as an actor. Con Air and Face/Off
To be fair, the romance was the point, since love was the fifth element, much like Captain Planet had 'heart' as the fifth. I understand it's hard to build a proper romance though when there's so much to get through within a couple hours.
@@TheNonEdibleCheese Well yeah, but there's more than one kind of love. Building up the framework for a platonic love would have worked a lot better in my opinion, and made more sense for the time frame. Instead it came across as lust disguising itself as love.
@@armandb7804 i don't necessarily disagree, but something that can't be forgotten, we can't judge these older niche genre movies by today's expected story telling standards. stories which much more fast paced and straight to the point in that era. disclaimer: that was just my assumption of how i read what you stated, it may not have been how you came to your conclusion.
A little bit, but maybe in a director's cut that romance feel more natural.
@@that70space That's not what I meant, but I suppose that's a fair point. Considering the quality of the rest of the movie's story, however, I feel like it's still a plot weakness that shouldn't be overlooked.
" AZIZ!! LIGHT!!!!" lmao...this onna my fav movies str8 up..
I absolutely ADORE the setting of this movie. The way his apartments set up, the slight grungy look of the environment that makes it feel lived in, the food cart that flies up to your apartment. It would be so cool to have an open-world game or TV series set in this future. Even if it was just in this version of New York, you could stay busy and entertained for hours.
If you liked this style, you’ll love “Valarian and the city of a thousand worlds”
The director was married to “the diva”, a famous French opera singer.
Mila learned that made up language, her and the director had conversations in it, and began having an affair.
I absolutely love the song ‘Alaach Taadi’ that plays during the hover car chase!
No idea why people dislike Chris's character. The only thing I can think of is one of multiple bigotted reasons, cuz he absolutely killed it. Easily my favorite role he ever played.
This is yet another one of my All Time Favorites . You’ve been CRUSHING it lately 🙌🏽
Oh yeah, the actress who played the LeeLoo, was also in Zoolander, she was a villain, Mugatu‘s henchwoman
This movie will have a place in my heart forever.
This one and The Professional just came along with some fresh air, peppered with the perfect amount of extremes.
Gary Oldman is bonkers and I'm there for it.
Chris Tucker was great.
The multi-layered traffic scenes are brilliant for the time, and still look great. For years afterward I expected to see people try and copy this, but I really haven't.
And you mentioned it at the beginning, the music is thick and Rich and puts you there. Eric Serra, i think.
So many parts that are memorable, funny and entertaining. Love that songstress’s performance! Chris Tucker was awesome here and I never knew he had controversy due to it.
Fun fact about her language she is speaking, her and the director made it up and spoke to each other on set.
This one of my favorite movies growing up. Your reaction is so pure a1
