    INDIANA JONES MOVIE REACTION | 1:37 - 37:47
    INDIANA JONES MOVIE REVIEW | 37:38 - 40:44
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom Movie Description:
Adventure sequel. Intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones, on the trail of fortune and glory in Old Shanghai, is ricocheted into a dangerous adventure in India. With his faithful companion Short Round and nightclub singer Willie Scott, Indie goes in search of the magical Sankara stone, and uncovers an ancient evil which threatens all who come into contact with it.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a 1984 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. It is the second installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, a prequel to the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, featuring Harrison Ford reprising his role as the title character. After arriving in India, Indiana Jones is asked by desperate villagers to find a mystical stone and rescue their children from a Thuggee cult practicing child slavery, black magic, and ritualistic human sacrifice in honor of the goddess, Kali.
Not wishing to feature the Nazis as the villains again, George Lucas, executive producer and co-writer, decided to regard this film as a prequel. Three plot devices were rejected before Lucas wrote a film treatment that resembled the final storyline. Lawrence Kasdan, Lucas's collaborator on Raiders of the Lost Ark, turned down the offer to write the script, and Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz were hired as his replacements, who had previously worked with Lucas on American Graffiti.
The film was released to financial success but initial reviews were mixed, criticizing its darker elements and violence. However, critical opinion has improved since 1984, citing the film's intensity and imagination. In response to some of the more violent sequences in the film, and with similar complaints about Gremlins, Spielberg suggested that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) alter its rating system, which it did within two months of the film's release, creating a new PG-13 rating.
It was released to cinemas in the United States on May 23, 1984. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. A sequel, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, followed in 1989.

Happy Holidays!

  • @Cre80s
    @Cre80s 2 года назад +4

Something important: if you notice, this is actually a prequel of Lost Ark, and if you take special notice, this is Indiana Jones coming into himself. In the beginning, he legit was not a hero at all, he was truly after the treasures and money. When he said "fortune and glory", he meant it. When he went after the stones, he had zero intention to return it to the village. Only, from the point he woke from the black sleep, he was reformed, a new man. THAT MOMENT "our Indy" was born.

They didn't date or even begins flirting during filming on this, but a few years later...they reconnected and fell in love and married. They are still married, happily, and have a large family...including Kate's daughter from a previous marriage, actress Jessica Capshaw (best known for her long stint as Dr. Arizona Robbins on 'Grey's Anatomy').

Actually, there's one character that isn't played by an Indian. The very large slave driver (crushed under the rock grinder) was played by English stuntman turned actor Pat Roach, who also played the large Himalayan man in Marian's bar in Nepal, as well as the large mechanic fighting Indy at the plane (propeller accident). His best role was General Kael in Willow (skull mask).

My favorite Indiana Jones movie hands down. My parents took me and my sister to see this in the summer of 1984. I was 4 years old and my sister was 8. Both of us cried out of terror most of the movie and covered our eyes. Our parents were in shock because they didn't expect an Indiana Jones movie to be this intense and scary. Kudos to Spielberg and Lucas for pushing the boundaries and making something different for the sequel. Spielberg's directing was on point! Oh, and this movie along with Gremlins was responsible for the pg-13 rating because parents were complaining about both films being too scary for kids. Great reaction! Your mom is amazing!

This one is actually a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark and it shows you how Indiana at the start is all about himself in his search for Fortune and Glory but throughout he evolves and becomes the hero he is in the rest of the movies. It also has my favorite scene ever that never doesn't get my hyped. The scene is just after he gets the stones and they want to get out and he says, "Yeah, all of us" then you have that mine cart scene slowly lighting up his face you here the 3 crack crack crack of the punches and see the guy go skidding into the gravel. This is easily the best of the original Indiana Jones movies for me. An absolute classic and a complete rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.
It barely lets up and gives you a chance to catch your breath before the next action scene kicks off.
The characters are all brilliant with great chemistry, and that includes Willy who is supposed to be playing the annoying ‘scared of everything’ type character.
I think the contrast of her character against Indy’s made for some real amusing moments, and of course adding Shortround who is just so loveable and infectious into the mix was a stroke of genius.
Loved him as Data in the Goonies too.
Also the main bad guy was so memorable and really quite scary back in the day when watching as a kid.

Highly recommend, it’s fantastic, one of the best movies. And critics agree 😊

As huge an Indiana Jones fan I was as a kid, my mom wouldn't let me watch this one because of the sacrifice scene. This movie pushed the envelope of the PG rating and lead to the creation of PG-13. And don't be too hard on Willie. After the tough and competent Marion Ravenwood, they wanted the ultimate damsel in distress/fish out of water. She literally gets dragged along on this adventure against her will from a life of luxury.

Let's go! Great reaction Mello! I love this movie. It's like it is a horror film in disguise. And Willie doesn't annoy me at all. She did what she was supposed to do. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Indian Jones and The Last Crusade (1989). 👍 And the 4th film is a hot mess, but in a good way.

Apparently, Mola Ram's "cow-skull-inspired" headdress was meant to be 'sacrilegious" because of the sacredness of Cows in India. (I just found that out today, and have never heard it, and it's cool.)

Temple of Doom 10.0 - saw this in theaters in 1984 at 6 years old, huge part of my childhood.
The Last Crusade 9.5 - so frickin entertaining and fun.

    Fun Facts-
    1. Mola Ram tearing out the heart was the inspiration for Kano's iconic "Heart Rip" fatality in the first Mortal Kombat game.
    2. The mine cart chase inspired the universally dreaded "Mine Cart Carnage" levels in 1994's Donkey Kong Country on SNES.
    3. The Thuggee cult member who yells "WASAYA!!" and leaps into Indy's cart inspired my sisters and I in the mid 80s to yell it and jump off the bed or couch onto these giant pillows on the floor until our mom would come in and say "Jump off my furniture one more time and I'm gonna 'WASAYA!' you on your ass!!"

Saw this movie in the theater with my mother when I was 7. Not sure how exactly it played out but somehow she got my older sister (age 11) to watch my younger brother so the two of us could go by ourselves. And this is why I always said that I was her favorite. At least until I was 11 when she had another son. He became her favorite for various reasons (ie health issues ) but I knew I'd always be number 2.

Hi Mellow, I really enjoyed watching Temple of Doom with you and your mum, she is awesome! My parents took my stepbrother and I to see this at the cinema when it came out in 1984, and my bro and I were 8 years old. So after the movie, my parents thought that we might have nightmares or something, lol, but we're just like, " that was awesome! How cool was it when that guy got his heart ripped out?!" .So from that point on, my parents were cool with us watching pretty much anything. Good times! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!👍😁

Growing up as a young boy who just had his Dad walk out. Movies was the only way to escape that feeling of abandonment. Of course I have my Mom an my little brother. But when your a young boy with no Dad really in the picture to give you male life lessons. Indiana Jones was the one that helped out an taught me some things that a man is supposed to do. Teaching how to throw a punch, how to talk to girls, to be brave and courageous. Things I didn’t get from my Dad. That’s actually why The Last Crusade is my favorite, because that one really drives home the message about the importance of having a Father or Father figure in your life.

    * Hey, do you know those other two adventures of Indy's that Chatter Lal mentions during dinner? The first one they mention is where Indy was accused of being a grave robber, rather than an archaeologist. This adventure was called "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull of Cozan", and takes place in British Honduras, 1933. If you'd like to read about it, it literally *is* the prologue to the novel "Indiana Jones and the Philosopher's Stone".
    * The second one that Chatter Lal mentions was an adventure called "Indiana Jones and the Jewel of Heaven", which takes place in Madagascar, 1931. Where Sultan Khalifa bin Harub of Zanzibar, Tanzania hires Indy to find the Jewel of Heaven, which was believed to be somewhere in Madagascar. Indy finds the Jewel, but when he brings it before the Sultan, he double-crosses Indy. Indy narrowly escapes with Jock Lindsey(from Raiders) as the Sultan screams at him "I will cut your balls off if you ever return to my island!!!"

The actress that played Willie is Steven Spielberg’s wife. Also, for me Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is my favorite of the Indiana Jones franchise. It feels more like Raiders, but has something the other two did not. We got fun and entertainment in the first two, but this one we get heart. Also, with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery playing father and son is amazing and perfect casting. To me Indiana Jones and his Dad is the best father son duo of all-time in film history.

I LOVE this film. I know it's so polarizing among fans of the series, but that's a good thing. It means people are passionate about it. The late and great Roger Ebert was a big fan of this film too. He referred to it as a "bruised forearm" film, cause your date will clutch your forearm during all the tense parts, of which there are many, until you're bruised. This series is based on serial style films that used to screen prior to feature films, and they used to end on a cliffhanger. Back in the day, during the Depression era, people would spend all day at the movies. That's why they could have news reels, cartoons, a serial, and a feature film screen back to back and all you had to do was pay for one ticket. These types of films were always B movies and had really daring stunt men who did CRAZY things. I think I love this film so much because it reminds me of those films, and I can imagine what it was like in the theater during the Depression when these movies aired: just sheer bedlam.
