Lol i know someone already said it but yea “Willie” is Steven Spielberg’s wife still to this day lol they became close during the filming of this movie lol
Yeah, not every woman, (or even some men) has to be a "strong, independent, go getter". She was just a hot girl who worked in a night club or whatever and got roped into a ludicrous adventure against her will.
I'd argue that Willie is the parody(!) of a stereotypical damsel in distress, totally over-the-top on purpose. I always found her hilarious and an important part of what makes the movie entertaining.

The opening of this film was inspired by Sean Connery’s James Bond in “Goldfinger”. The music number, the tux, etc. were direct references. Spielberg loved that role so much that he cast Connery as Indy’s dad for the 3rd film!
Now you need to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once, it stars short round in his first role in decades and it's one of the few movies I'd actually give a 10/10
This needs to be their next movie. It's nice to see Short Round all grown up and even as an adult his character in that movie will def pull on Jen's heartstrings.

Willy is just the fish out of water comic relief character Short Round is generally really well liked. And the idea has been bantered around of having him in the next Indy movie, and that would honestly be pretty great
Willy should have suffered a minor injury requiring an eye patch, just so Short Round could point at her through the movie calling her One-Eyed Willie.
Thank you! Most people hate Willie's character. But you get it! They definitely didn't want another Marion, so set it a year earlier (Marion's still in Nepal at this point) and have the love interest be completely opposite. Also, Willie does have a character arc during the movie, even punching a thuggee herself in the mine cart! People shouldn't hate Willie for being an "Indoor Girl" - and yes, the fish out of water aspect lends to a lot of great comedy. I never hated Willie, but loved her gumption, growth, and comedy.
Temple of Doom has gradually become my favorite of the Indy movies. The main reason is because Indy has the best character arc in this film. He starts off as being a selfish guy looking for fortune, then turns into a hero. When he first robs the Sankara stones is when he begins to care about the children. He hears their cries and turns to help. The stones have a positive effect on his character. Great film, great trilogy.
I've loved this film since I was a kid. Also, Willie never bothered me. She's supposed to be an annoying damsel in distress. Temple of Doom is a horror film in disguise, 🥸 and it's so well done. Great reaction! 👍🏿
They dumped the fuel to crash the plane in the movie. However, when a plane knows it's going to crash they try and fine unpopulated areas to do so then dump as much fuel as they can so the plain doesn't become a bomb. You would also dump fuel from an engine to try and put out a fire as well. Oh, also landing weight is lighter than take off weight. If you had to emergency land and needed to be lighter for that emergency landing strip, you'd dump fuel in that situation as well so you wouldn't run out of runway.
And just for additional detail, the fuel tanks in a plane are in the wings, so unlike most cars where the gas tank and engine are as far apart as possible, in planes they are usually right next to each other.
@@michaelw8262 yeah, I didn't mean the gas was in the engine. I only meant it's dumped in cases where there is a fire in said engine if it's thought to help put said fire out. Sorry if I miss explained that.
it is actually not true that pilots try to find unpopulated area. they try to find nearest airport, and if that's not possible, nearest flat open field. and pilots dump fuel on residential areas all the time (well, not all the time, but happens more often then you think). for example, Delta Airplane Dumps Jet Fuel on Los Angeles Schools Jan 17, 2020
@@davidjacobs8558 yeah not true as far as dumping fuel "all the time" over people. Not even "often". Only if absolutely necessary. Like your example. It's implied I meant if an airport isn't available. Lol. Open fields aren't populated are they? That's why their called "open" fields. The point is, pilots look for the path of least resistance. Clearly the closest airport, that's implied. If not, then least unpopulated/least populated areas. You can get as specific as wanted once you get lower on the tier.
@@pen1208 well, the problem is, most major airports are pretty close to residential areas. for example, LAX. surrounded by residential area, except for the west side, which is pacific ocean. And pilots dump their fuel minutes before they attemp the landing, so it ends up on top of the residential area, as previous case shows. if the airplane is high enough, the fuel will evaporate way before it hits the ground, so usually fuel dumping is not really a problem, even if it was done on residential area.
Temple of Doom is the movie that brought on the PG13 rating. There was a lot of concern about the violence especially the heart pulling scene. There was concern that it was violent for Young children. So the rating industry came up with a PG-13 rating shortly after Temple of Doom was released
mmhmm. It's not that there wasn't anything higher than PG and G, but it would have to be bumped to R or X (at the worst, but only reserved for select movies), because I'm fairly sure NC-17 wasn't a thing either yet. So it's a cool testament to history that this was the first PG-13.
Short round is also Data in the goonies not sure if you guys seen that movie yet and he is also in everything everywhere all at once highly recommend when it comes out to watch.
So a few fun facts. The old shaman who sends Indy on the quest initially didn't speak any English at all, so Spielberg is actually reading the lines to him off screen and he's repeating what he hears to say them. The buff cultist who Indy fights on the conveyor belt and who winds up getting crushed is the same stunt actor who played the German mechanic fixing the plane in Raiders. He also appears in Last Crusade in a cameo role outside of the zeppelin when it is launching. As far as Universal needing to have a minecart style ride...they're actually making one. As part of the new theme park currently under construction in Orlando, "Epic Universe", a Donkey Kong themed roller coaster is in the works and is designed in such a way as to mimic the game's feature of leaping from track to track in the minecart. It should be open in a few years. Finally the closeup shots of the gators at the end were filmed at Gatorland in Orlando, not far from where Universal is located.
The buff cultist/German mechanic is the late English actor, stuntman & ex pro wrestler, Pat Roach. He also appeared in at least one of the Conan films.
Holden: I'll give you something to choke on. Jen: Holden Thomas Hardman! He's just making sure there is enough material for the next "Every Time Jen Uses Holden's Full Name" video by Cinemavalanche. Holden's not being dirty Jen. He's just trying to help out a fellow RUclipsr.
This is in fact my favorite movie of all time. In a sense, defending Willie, she is just a performer who happened to live this adventure. You can't really blame her. However, towards the end she really warmed up to the adventure as you can see that helped uncuffing the children, shadow boxing along with Indiana, and during the cart part even acting herself. With a character as first-world as her this was very believable. I 100% understand the complains on her but upon rewatching I really like her character a lot. Edit: Funny that you mentioned Zorro 2 at the end, and I totally agree. The child really was my only complain on that movie. Edit2: Since the first movie showed the Arc of the Covenant one can assume that this one featuring Kali and the supernatural elements in this feel very demonic. Which would make sense in a world where the Arc is also a supernatural thing.
Ke Huy Quan, the kid that played Shortround, recently returned to acting co-starring with Michelle Yeoh in the film "Everything, Everywhere All at Once". Amazing film, and a must watch if you and Jen have not seen it yet.
tbh its all i remember about this movie. I remember this being my favorite indy movie but I havent seen it in years and i don't remember ANYTHING that happens before the KALI MA scene
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid. That scene where the mine cart jumps the break in the tracks....it was completely silent in the room and after it landed the entire place erupted in cheering. That kind of thing happened a lot in the 80's (and 90's). Not to sound like the old guy, but you just don't have movie experiences like this anymore because everyone is so jaded and seen it all. The last time recently I can remember having that kind of experience in the theater was seeing Guardians of the Galaxy.
Crazy fact about this movie! When Steven Spielberg meet Kate Capshaw who playes Wille on the set of this movie, Speilberg had fallen in love with her while he was still engaged to Amy Ivring at the time. It was even roomered they had “gotten together” even while this movie was still being made. Apparently all that yelling does it for him considering Spielberg would go on to eventually marry Capshaw, have 6 kids together and still remain married to this day. All end well for everyone I guess
He wasn't with Amy Irving when they filmed Temple of Doom. They broke up in 1979 and didn't get back together until 84'. Temple of Doom was shot in early 83' and released in 84'.
I’m sure someone else said this already, but here’s a fun tidbit: the dude who fought Jones on the conveyor belt is played by the same guy who played the big shirtless German mechanic during the plane fight in Raiders. He’s got a part in Last Crusade, but it’s an exponentially smaller role.
@@fan-i-am He isn't that swordsman, but he did play two roles in Raiders... he is the big German who fistfights Indy under the plane, as most people point out, but he was also one of the sherpa goons in the fight at Marion's bar earlier in the movie.
I always feel really sorry for Willy in this film. I know the majority of us would be acting the same as her, coping just as badly in circumstances which she didn’t ask for and has no experience or knowledge of.
7:56 Both of you are correct. You can manually dump fuel for if your overweight, in an emergency situation on one of your engines so nothing explodes or(mainly) for emergency landings when there is an issue directly after takeoff and they absolutely have to land the plane
I have always considered this as my third favorite of the original trilogy. It is great, but I like the other two more. Couple fun facts: -The opening scene takes places in "Club Obi-Wan" (there is a sign over the door as they leave). -Kate Capshaw (Willie) is now married to Steven Speilberg (they have been married since 1991)..
A couple of the best easter eggs in Temple of Doom are Club Obi-Wan (which Jen noticed; Spielberg added that as a tribute to Lucas), and that the role of the man who directed Indy & company to the airplane was played by Dan Aykroyd.
The big guy that Indy fights in the mine cart also played the mechanic he fought near the plane in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the one that got turned to chop suey
Pat Roach plays the guy with the beard who is beating the children, he is also in Raiders as the big guy who gets chopped up from the plane. He also makes a quick appearance in The Last Crusade. And finally Dan Aykroyd makes a cameo in this which came out the same year as the original Ghostbusters.
When Jenn said “Death by steak” 🥩 all I could think of was “what a missed take” or “what a mistake”. Dad jokes all around. “Drinks on the bar! Hey I don’t see any drinks up here!”
13:22: it was a Prequel and I feel it’s kinda establishing that Indiana was a bit more of a fortune hunter at that point. He wanted “fortune and glory” and was tbh a playboy. That’s my personal rationalization for him being with Willie. But after seeing the power of the stones, he learns to be who he is later in the series (Raiders and Last Crusade). Fun fact too: Steven Spielberg was at a rough patch in his life. Divorce with Amy Irving. George also wasn’t doing well. I have heard that this influenced how they made this film both in how dark it is and in terms of how weird the romance is I notice you guys tend to not like kids in movies in shows. But most of the time I have no problems
21:09 Fun fact that’s the same actor who died in the propeller in the last movie he was also in the bar fight where he briefly helped Indy before fighting him again.
The big guy Indy fights is Pat Roach, he actually plays the German mechanic he fights in the first film, as well as the guy who nearly choked him to death in the bar in raiders. There’s also a deleted scene in last crusade where they fought again as Spielberg loved the gag and idea of Indy always fighting a massive tall dude and liked having it be the same actor, as a reference to the old serials.
I mean even if he did he would be in his 50's, so a very different character. But no there's no indication that Short Round will be in the movie, he was gonna get a cameo in an early version of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and he gets mentioned in some supplemental material as having become an archeologist and going after the peacocks eye, he does appear in one other story from the Marvel Indy comics Trail of the Golden Guns and also in a Star Wars Tales comic story where he and Indy find the crashed Millennium Falcon while looking for Bigfoot (Chewbacca) and find the skeleton of Han Solo in the wreck.
Temple of Doom was very dark for a Spielberg film. And you could see the drastic comedic shift when they did the Last Crusade--the best Indy movie of the whole series.
@@DMFX1 proud of you I was only half watching in the background while I'm at work, and then I heard that and had to go back to make sure I wasn't losing it, and then I saw all the face paint and understood
@Holden Hardman To be fair I’m pretty sure most people would react the exact same way as Willie did if they encountered the sort of things that Indy deals with and goes through to the extent that he does…
My favorite part about this film always be Dan Aykryd’s random cameo for one minute of screen time saying “You will be flying on a cargo plane!” And then suddenly “wait a minute.. are you Willy Scott the famous singer?!!!” 😂
Generally people disliked Willie, you’re definitely not alone. I don’t like her character much either but she fits the movie they were going for. Still my favourite Indiana Jones film, even though I love all 3. 👍👍
An interesting fact: The guy that Indy fights with the red beard and the turban is the same actor that Indy fought next to the airplane that Marion was stuck in that got his head cut off in the propeller blades. He is also in Last Crusade as one of the SS guys when they are about to take off in the zeppelin. Also, this is a prequel to Raiders. It takes place in 1935, a few years before Raiders.
The reasons that planes are able to dump fuel is for emergency landings. 1) So, if they crash there will be less fuel for possible fires or an explosion. 2) If a plane has to do an emergency landing at an airport closer than their intended destination due to weather or some other issue, they dump the fuel to get rid of the access weight to make the landing easier.
I saw this film so many times during it’s initial release. I recall walking several miles to watch it over and over again when it reached the second run “dollar” theatre. (That was a thing back then)
I remember the dollar movie. Se so many movies that way. I would walk to the movie theater by myself (at 8, that was a thing back then) and watch the movie of the week.
The actor who played Short Round is also in The Goonies along with another future Lord of the Rings actor. I'd love to see a reaction to The Goonies sometime.
Holden, the London Symphony Orchestra was only used for *Raiders of the Lost Ark.* The other Indy film scores were recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
The contact that tells Indy that he will be riding on a cargo plane full of live poultry in the beginning of the film is none other than Dan Aykroyd himself! Took me years to notice!
This is my favorite of the Indy movies. The character of Willie gets a lot of flack. Yes she's annoying but that's the point. They wanted a character the complete opposite of Marion, also it was Steven Spielberg's idea to make her a blonde.
Finally someone gets it. She was meant to be the comic relief, but just comes off annoying. Kate Capshaw was critical of the character. She even told them she thought her character screamed too much.
I expected more comments telling y’all how fantastic short round’s actor is in Everything Everywhere All at Once which is a excellent film y’all need to watch whether for the channel or not!
Kate Kapshaw had to take tranquilizers during the filming of the palace dinner scene. This film is acutally banned in India, the filming had to happen in Sri Lanka. I was suprised to see Jen take the dinner scene so well, I still remember everyone in my movie theatre flipping out in the 80's (at a time when people watched politely a film, unlike today when people participate in a movie showing). Jen hating on Willie's character was hilarious.
They were making a big deal about them in the village because they were guests, that's what people do in a lot of cultures. Also, they felt they were a gift from the universe, someone who could go find their kids since they didnt have the power or position to do anything about it.
Ke Huy Quan (Short Round), who also Played Data in The Goonies, left acting for a long time (due to a lack of opportunity) but returned recently for a co-starring role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Couple of notes. 1.) the nightclub they are in in the beginning is indeed called Club Obi-Wan. 2.) Kate Capshaw (who plays Willie) is Stephen Spielberg’s wife in real life. Also in the airport scene you can see George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, Stephen Spielberg in the background.
The kid in this movie, short stack, is Ernie Reyes Jr. he also played Keno the pizza delivery guy in TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze. He was also the small guy who fought the Rock in the Rundown.
The name of the character is short round, and is played by Ke Huy Quan. Ernie Reyes Jr is not involved in this movie. He does some stunt work in Indiana Jones and the crystal skull but was an adult at that point.
Idk if you watch any of corridor’s videos, but one of the recent vfx ones showed how in the wider shots of the mine cart chase where you see the whole cart on the tracks, it’s actually stop motion and the characters are just dolls in the carts. I never noticed that until they pointed it out, but it works really well.
the kid in this is Data from the goonies! he’s also in everything everywhere all at once which came out this year and is the best film of the year for me!!
I loved Short Round in this. He's a great actor and recently starred in another amazing film "Everything Everywhere All At Once" and you guys should totally check that out too. it's definitely one of my favorite movies now.
And Short Round just won an Oscar for his first performance since the '90's! Looking at videos regarding him, it's such a beautiful story, same with Brendan Fraser
The scene where Indy makes the point about the villager's food, and Willie offending them, is a standout scene of this movie, I always remember this scene. The double swordsman scene is a callback to the sword guy Indy shoot in Raiders. Indy chasing after the red guards and then being chased by more red guards is a callback to the scene in Star Wars where Han runs after a stormtrooper, only to end up being chased by more stormtroopers.
Short round is the same actor from another classic “The Goonies”! He has just recently starred in another movie you may have heard of “Everything, Everywhere, All at once”. He’s literally a great and lovable character in all of those movies!
I saw this in the cinema at the time, and yes, Short Round was very well liked as a character. On the other hand, Willie was universally loathed by everyone that I knew who saw the film. Even after all these years those opinions still hold true.
I love Willie Scott, they don’t like each other, they are complete opposites but they are stuck together, so the only attraction between them is physical, and it’s enough. that’s very funny and unique.
Funny you mention the Millennium Falcon sound for the second time in the Indiana Jones videos. The sound of the Falcon is taken straight from the ignition sounds of some old timey airplane.
If I can recommend some movies check out: The Guest(2014), It Follows(also 2014 if I remember right), Ravenous(1999). They are all movies that are something special and unexpected.
Great reaction you two! I love the Indiana Jones intro. 😊 Been looking forward to this one. This is the darkest of all of the Indiana Jones movies. This movie and the movie "Gremlins"(I highly recommend), which came out in the same year, prompted the first two PG-13 rated movies. 15:47 - 16:01 Many years later, and I still have a hard time watching this scene. LOL! This scene is what prompted the PG-13 rating. Fun Fact: Director Steven Spielberg met his future wife Kate Capshaw(who plays Willie) while making this movie. Fun Fact #2: 7:04 There's a cameo by actor Dan Aykroyd as the guy that's walking Indy, Short Round, and Willie to the the plane. Next up: "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
An often missed cameo is Dan Aykroyd as the man with the goofy accent showing Indy and Willie to the plane at the beginning of the movie. There is never a closeup of him, so it is easy to miss.
They were going for a James Bond feel with Indiana Jones at this time. To the point they wanted a different love interest per film. Also, as a note, Temple of Doom is actually a prequel since it's set a year before Raiders. I don't know if it's a consensus, but some did dislike Short Round as much as Willie. So I'm always happy to see positive reception. Temple of Doom tends to be the black sheep of the first three films. Kate Capshaw (Willie) married Steven Spielberg, so at least they can say they got to meet their future spouse during this film. I personally don't hate Willie, but I don't prefer her as his love interest either
I don’t know if you know this, but Dan Aykrode plays the guy who gets Indy the three seats on the plane. Also Indy’s friend who died back at the restaurant was supposed to be the third passenger. I used to think it was a plot whole.
You're not alone in enjoying this movie, Holden and Jen, as I love it, too! This is what Indiana Jones is supposed to be about: a pulp-style adventure about an occult artifact in an exotic locale. Like all films in the series, the story begins in the middle of another adventure before the main one begins which is the format of long-running, multi-chapter serials of the 1930's. Such serials played before films in the past and audiences only experienced a small portion at a time unless they attended the cinema regularly to get the whole story. Serials were a major inspiration for both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg when crafting their respective franchises of "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones". The pair collaborated on this series as producer and director, respectively. This film is set in 1935, a year earlier than "Raiders of the Lost Ark", and is technically a prequel but the series is meant to be seen in release order at least the first time through. The criticisms leveled against "Temple of Doom" are that insensitivity was shown to South Asian culture by mischaracterizing the cuisine, the customs and the religion. The headdress of Mola Ram is bovine in a country where cows are sacred, human sacrifice is shown as part of the worship of Kali when it is not and the banquet is filled with delicacies no one in India eats. While the allegations are true, the movie is a fantasy adventure about a twisted, evil sect of Death worshippers and should be taken with a grain of salt. In this current politically-correct time, this movie wouldn't get made or would be made to more accurately reflect South Asian customs. In 1984, one just rolled one's eyes and understood one was experiencing a live-action Scooby Doo adventure made for adults. The film was shot in Sri Lanka because the Indian government felt the film was racist and refused permission to shoot there. The opening musical number has Willie Scott sing the 1930's Cole Porter song "Anything Goes" from the Broadway musical of the same name. Lyrics such as "In olden days, a glimpse of stocking/ Was looked on as something shocking/ But now, God knows,/ Anything goes!" were translated into Mandarin which Kate Capshaw memorized phonetically. However, she seems to pronounce the Mandarin vowels with a French inflection making the song's translation sound pleasingly incomprehensible. Despite the gobbledygook, she delivers it with confidence and panache making it a showstopping sequence! The chorus girl dance routine is inspired by Busby Berkley musicals of the 1930's and reflects what's going on in Willie's head: she deludes herself into imagining she's part of a spectacular Broadway production rather than being an ex-pat chanteuse in a seedy nightclub. The nightclub is named 'Obi-Wan' as a reference to buddy George Lucas' Star Wars universe. Dan Aykroyd, a famous comedian and one of the Ghostbusters, cameos as the Brit who escorts Jones onto the cargo plane! Ke Huy Quan, the cute Vietnamese boy who played Short Round, went on to play Data in "The Goonies" and one of the teen students in the classic TV series "Head of the Class". Pat Roach played the massive Thugee with the whip who gets pulverized in the rock crusher. He appears in every Indiana Jones movie looking completely different as a massive opponent who meets a grisly death! Amrish Puri was a legendary Indian actor known for many villainous roles. When he shaved his head to play Mola Ram, he liked the look so much that it became his signature style for the rest of his career. When Indy goes for his gun to shoot the two Thugee swordsmen, it's a callback to a scene in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Of course, as "Temple" occurs a year earlier, that confrontation in Cairo hasn't happened yet even though the audience has already seen it. Willie Scott is supposed to be the opposite of Marion Ravenwood from "Lost Ark". She's a high-maintenance city-dwelling diva who knows nothing about wilderness survival, intellectual pursuits or occult magic. Her interests are show biz, beauty, glamor and creature comforts. I would be shocked if you've never met a girl like that in your life! Kate Capshaw was terrific in the role and served as a perfect foil for Indy. Moreover, Steven Spielberg was so taken with her that she became his second wife! They're still married. Harrison Ford is an American treasure. His signature roles are Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Rick Deckard from the "Blade Runner" series and Jack Ryan from the Tom Clancy thrillers "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger". Other excellent films of his include: "Witness", "The Mosquito Coast", "Frantic", "Presumed Innocent", "The Fugitive", "Air Force One", "What Lies Beneath", "Crossing Over", "Morning Glory", "Cowboys and Aliens" and "42".
I dont remember if youve seen Goonies. But the kid who played ShortRound also played Data in Goonies. And i remember in a interview with the Goonies Cast reunion someone asked him, what did he like best going down the waterslides in Goonies or Jumping out of the plane with Indiana Jones. I think you missed the the call back to Raiders when Indy faced off with the two sword wielders and reached for his pistol....to find nothing. BTW, Kate Capshaw, who played Willie, met Spielberg on this film and they later married. I wouldn't be too hard on her character. She provided an important role of comedic relief.

Fun fact, in the beginning of the movie when he goes to the airport the British officer speaking to him before he gets on the plane is Dan Aykroyd
Poltergeist also contributed
@@reptomicus absolutely
mmhmm. It's not that there wasn't anything higher than PG and G, but it would have to be bumped to R or X (at the worst, but only reserved for select movies), because I'm fairly sure NC-17 wasn't a thing either yet. So it's a cool testament to history that this was the first PG-13.
That’s what my brother told me about PG-13 begins.
@@reptomicus Gremlins also.
They really filmed those gator scenes in Gatorland?? I love that place! What a cool bit of trivia!
The buff cultist/German mechanic is the late English actor, stuntman & ex pro wrestler, Pat Roach. He also appeared in at least one of the Conan films.

LOL thank you for the shoutout!
@@cinemavalanche Thanks for the videos.
He also recently had a small role in Finding Ohana after not seeing him since Goonies. I recognized instantly and it was an awesome surprise
Fun Fact: The English man that got them on the plane with live poultry was played by Dan Akroyd.
Funny enough, they tested the raft thing in Mythbusters and its plausible to survive the way it landed.
The last 40 minutes of this film is the best action in the whole series.
tbh its all i remember about this movie. I remember this being my favorite indy movie but I havent seen it in years and i don't remember ANYTHING that happens before the KALI MA scene
Only downside he gets a sword and doesn’t have a sword fight
I've honestly never seen anybody rate Temple of Doom higher than Raiders. Last Crusade is definitely the best, IMO.
Fr the Last Crusade is soooooo good
It’s my favorite. So, nice to meet you.
Completely agree about the Willie character, but the dark tone brings the overall rating up for me, possibly above the rest.
@@Hoganply that’s why it’s my favorite.
Interesting, I’d rate them in exactly the opposite order
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid. That scene where the mine cart jumps the break in the tracks....it was completely silent in the room and after it landed the entire place erupted in cheering. That kind of thing happened a lot in the 80's (and 90's). Not to sound like the old guy, but you just don't have movie experiences like this anymore because everyone is so jaded and seen it all. The last time recently I can remember having that kind of experience in the theater was seeing Guardians of the Galaxy.
everyone wants to hate on my blu ray collection until the wifi goes out 🤣😭 you just can’t beat having a physical copy
Temple of Doom was shot in early 83' and released in 84'.
they did not have 6 kids together.
some are adopted, some are from previous marrieage.
He also played the big swordsman that Indy one-shotted!
@@fan-i-am I liked the payoff when Indy faced two swords, no gun.
@@fan-i-am He isn't that swordsman, but he did play two roles in Raiders... he is the big German who fistfights Indy under the plane, as most people point out, but he was also one of the sherpa goons in the fight at Marion's bar earlier in the movie.
that look y'all gave each other when she was eating the apple after the dinner scene was priceless 🤣🤣
Couple fun facts:
-The opening scene takes places in "Club Obi-Wan" (there is a sign over the door as they leave).
The kid that played Data from Goonies in this. He is great.
The one has some of the best music of the 4 films. The opening, the freeing the slaves scene, the ending…it’s just so good.
When Jenn said “Death by steak” 🥩 all I could think of was “what a missed take” or “what a mistake”. Dad jokes all around. “Drinks on the bar! Hey I don’t see any drinks up here!”
when she said that all I could think about was the Death by Stereo scene in The Lost Boys
I have heard that this influenced how they made this film both in how dark it is and in terms of how weird the romance is
I notice you guys tend to not like kids in movies in shows.
I always loved Short Round and always thought he should come back in an Indiana Jones sequel. Hoping he appears in 5 but I doubt it :(
I mean even if he did he would be in his 50's, so a very different character.
Whoever added in the ghost music at 18:43 is my hero
Ayyyy glad somebody caught that. I like to have fun with the edits lol
@@DMFX1 proud of you

Hey Holden, I don't know if you realized this, but when the gate opens to lower Willie down into the fiery pit, it makes a lightsaber sound.
Holden: "Hello, my name is Holden Hardman..."
Jen: "Holden THOMAS Hardman!!!"
Did you miss Dan Aykroyd's scene? He was the guy sending them on the plane in opening sequence.
7:17: Air Force One. Classic from my childhood. My dad is a huge Harrison Ford fan so we watched so many of his films when I was a kid.
Came back to the reupload just to make sure this comment was reposted by someone.
These are just even better with Holden's adult jokes that Jen goes mom mode on and calls him by his full name.
Absolutely love shortround
The actor who played Short Round is also in The Goonies along with another future Lord of the Rings actor. I'd love to see a reaction to The Goonies sometime.
Holden, the London Symphony Orchestra was only used for *Raiders of the Lost Ark.* The other Indy film scores were recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
The contact that tells Indy that he will be riding on a cargo plane full of live poultry in the beginning of the film is none other than Dan Aykroyd himself! Took me years to notice!
The white suit is a reference to James Bind as Speilberg was lobbying to direct a Bond film at the time but was rejected.
This is my favorite of the Indy movies. The character of Willie gets a lot of flack. Yes she's annoying but that's the point. They wanted a character the complete opposite of Marion, also it was Steven Spielberg's idea to make her a blonde.
EXACTLY!! 💯 Her character has never bothered me.
Finally someone gets it. She was meant to be the comic relief, but just comes off annoying. Kate Capshaw was critical of the character. She even told them she thought her character screamed too much.
I think the 3rd one is the best. Sean Connery as Indy's father is perfect. Seeing Indy as a kid. It really worked out well.
Apparently these folks expect a spoiled rich pampered singer not to act the way Willie does after being through all she’s been though?
Willie screaming in the jungle while Indy and short round are casually playing cards is hilarious
6:29 Jen GREAT eye. None of ANY of the reaction channels I've watched has ever been able find that. You are a Nerd Goddess.
I expected more comments telling y’all how fantastic short round’s actor is in Everything Everywhere All at Once which is a excellent film y’all need to watch whether for the channel or not!
12:22 "Cute little dinner" eh? lol
4:59 fun fact that diamond is a MacGuffin and one of the episodes from the TV show in The adventures of Young Indiana Jones
Fun fact they gave short round his own theme to match indiana jones theme
The Indian guy that Indiana had a flight with, was the same stuntman in the raiders of the lost ark who got killed by the plane.
Pat Roach aka Bomber from Auf Wiedersehen Pet
@@TheYoungDoctor Yep, spot on. He was great in Auf Wiedersehen pet, re-watched all the series recently.
I've always loved this one and it's refreshing to see people who don't have a bias against it.
Interesting note: The guy who arranged the flight and informs them that they will be riding with a cargo full of live poultry is Dan Akroyd.
If I would be a movie director, I would have made a Shortround spinoff
Idk if you watch any of corridor’s videos, but one of the recent vfx ones showed how in the wider shots of the mine cart chase where you see the whole cart on the tracks, it’s actually stop motion and the characters are just dolls in the carts. I never noticed that until they pointed it out, but it works really well.
the kid in this is Data from the goonies! he’s also in everything everywhere all at once which came out this year and is the best film of the year for me!!
The perfect trilogy. This was my favourite as a kid. Shorty is fantastic. One of those rare occasions when a child actor doesnt grate on you.
You guys need to watch The Goonies now! It also stars the actor who played short round
Temple of Doom was my introduction to Indy. I had no idea until recently that it was a prequel.
I saw this in the cinema at the time, and yes, Short Round was very well liked as a character. On the other hand, Willie was universally loathed by everyone that I knew who saw the film. Even after all these years those opinions still hold true.
not everyone hates Willie Scott. We liked her. it is only a tall story.
I love Willie Scott, they don’t like each other, they are complete opposites but they are stuck together, so the only attraction between them is physical, and it’s enough. that’s very funny and unique.
Great catch Jen. That was club Obi-Wan. Also the man in glasses who sent Indy and crew off..... was Dan Ackroyd. Great video!
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to pick up on the ritual chanting sounding like Duel of the Fates!
Great reaction you two! I love the Indiana Jones intro. 😊
Been looking forward to this one.
I love her reaction at the beginning when Lau said he’ll find another girl! 😂 priceless!! 😂😂
I love when Jen slips in her old fashioned (midwestern im guessing) slang “oh she wants on his jock” lmao
I don’t know if you know this, but Dan Aykrode plays the guy who gets Indy the three seats on the plane. Also Indy’s friend who died back at the restaurant was supposed to be the third passenger. I used to think it was a plot whole.
I caught the Ghost reference holden! That's my favorite band, I never thought I'd see that crossover lol. I would love your take on them!
Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) also played a great character in "The Goonies". You should watch it if you haven't already.
And i thought he gave one of the best answers. He said “ if i did not jump out of the plane with Indiana Jones i would never have gone down the waterslides in Goonies.
