    INDIANA JONES 3 MOVIE REVIEW | 40:16 - 43:50
    Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade:
    The intrepid explorer Indiana Jones sets out to rescue his father, a medievalist who has vanished while searching for the Holy Grail. Following clues in the old man's notebook, Indy arrives in Venice, where he enlists the help of a beautiful academic, but they are not the only ones who are on the trail, and some sinister old enemies soon come out of the woodwork.
    Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a 1989 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, from a story co-written by executive producer George Lucas. It is the third installment in the Indiana Jones franchise and a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford returned in the title role, while his father is portrayed by Sean Connery. Other cast members featured include Alison Doody, Denholm Elliott, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, and John Rhys-Davies. In the film, set largely in 1938, Indiana searches for his father, a Holy Grail scholar, who has been captured by the Nazis while on a journey to find the Holy Grail.
    After the mixed reaction to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Spielberg chose to lower the dark tone and graphic violence in the next installment. During the five years between The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, he and executive producer Lucas reviewed several scripts before accepting Jeffrey Boam's. Filming locations included Spain, Italy, West Germany, Jordan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
    The film was released by Paramount Pictures in North America on May 24, 1989, to mostly positive reviews and was a financial success, earning $475.8 million at the worldwide box office. It won an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing. A sequel, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, followed in 2008.

    The beautiful irony of this film is that the search for the grail IS the search for the father. "I didn't come to find the cup of Christ, I came to find my father," Indy says in the middle of the film. At the end, he and his father reconcile and find their love for each other again. It's such a beautiful film.

      Not only that but the passages of rights Indi has to face to get to the grail is also a metaphor for him finding his faith in his father since he has to trust to his father’s teachings and words to get through each obstacle.

    This is my favorite film of the trilogy: Ford and Connery have great chemistry, and we get chase scenes with horses, camels, trains motorcycles, cars, airplanes, and even a tank. I read that, when they were casting Henry Jones Sr, the question was 'Who could possibly be Indiana Jones' father?' And the answer was James Bond, of course.

    It'll have been mentioned countless times already no doubt, but it really was the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery that made this one so special.
    Just one little moment out of many, but I love when Indy takes out a load of bad guys in the bike chase with the flag pole then looks toward to his Dad laughing away having impressed himself and his Dad just sits there with that stone cold deadpan face.
    The quick change of expression from laughter to disappointment in Harrisons face gets me every time

    I remember when this movie came out, and everyone was saying how badass it was going to be to see the original James Bond be the father of Indiana Jones, which would explain why Indy became such an action hero. But they completely subverted expectations by making Sean Connery's character a bookworm and letting him play the part with comedy. This is my fave of the Indy Trilogy, and Sean and Harrison were so damn GOOD together. Their interplay was PERFECT.

    Actually, the character of Frau Farbissina from the Austin Powers trilogy, was mainly inspired by 2 characters from James Bond films...Rosa Klebb from "From Russia with Love" & Irma Bunt from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Which makes sense, since the James Bond franchise was the main inspiration for most of the characters from that trilogy.

    Can confirm that Indiana Jones is James Bond's son

    • @jasonhahn8797
      @jasonhahn8797 Год назад

      Technically, Indiana Jones was conceived from the idea of having a type of anti James Bond protagonist. Everything about Indiana is almost a polar opposite of Bond. Bond is more mannerly, clean and focused in a fight while Jones has a bit of a short fuse, kinda scruffy and fights dirty. So if you think about it he kind of is James Bond's son.

    You need to see Harrison Fords only Oscar nominated role for "Witness." He's absolutely next level in Peter Weirs underappreciated classic. Also the casting of Connery was intentional since Indiana Jones was inspired partly by James Bond.

    • @JeffKelly03
      @JeffKelly03 2 года назад +3

      Came to comment on that casting. Lucas and Spielberg had wanted to create America's answer to James Bond when they came up with Indy, so when it came time to cast his father, it only made sense to cast Connery since the character of James Bond was, in a sense, the father of Indiana Jones.

    this is easily my favorite indiana jones movie too and i didnt realize until relatively recently that the place they go to near the end of the movie was actually a real place and not something made for the movie as it was the ancient city of petra which existed as far back as 500 BC which is pretty insane to think about-

    >Jehovah begins with an "I"
    There was no "J" in the classical Latin alphabet, any (Anglicanized) Roman or Latinized name with "J" in it was originally spelt with an I (IVLIVS for Julius, IESVS for Jesus, etc.)

    couple months late but there is a james bond easter egg in the ending scenes of the movie that you may have missed. When Walter Donovan shot Henry Jones, Indy's father, if you look at the gun used, it is a walther ppk, the same firearm that james bond carried from the first Sean Connery movie through Goldeneye

    7:47 Also, think king Arthur was looking for it cause whoever had it, either their kingdom would never fall or would always prosper.
    21:05 What? It's 007. Even in a movie where he's not the main character, he still gets some. It'd be more surprising if he didn't.

    I think that bit showing the air travel on the maps is a trick used in old adventure serials, 8-10 minute 'short subjects' that were included with the price of admission to a movie in the '40s & '50s. They were intended to keep viewers returning, week after week, to find out what happens next to their heroes, who had invariably been left off last time in a thrilling cliffhanger. I think George Lucas was heavily inspired by the style of these, when creating these and Star Wars.

    The Brodie blending speech and cut is, probably, my favourite few seconds of the entire franchise.
    For me, it beats the famous "gun vs sword" bit from Raiders.

    Hi Mellow, my guy!!! And a very special Hi to your mum, is it Zo? Well firstly, Merry Christmas to you guys!!!! A very heartfelt thank you to Zo (please forgive me if I got your mum's name wrong), because, my dad went to Heaven 3 years ago, my dear mum went to Heaven 2 years ago, and my sister went to Heaven last September. So I was on my own on Christmas Day. But I just want to say a massive thank you to your mum, Mellow. I hope I'm getting her name right with Zo! So I left a comment on your Temple of Doom reaction, and Zo, your awesome mum, replied to my comment and wished me a Merry Christmas! I can't thank you enough! Zo, you made my Christmas!!! So after we finish watching The Last Crusade, I'm jumping over to your awesome mum's channel and subscribing, immediately! P.S. please, please, please keep on doing movie reactions together! Your beautiful mum made my Christmas! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
