SUPER EASY & GUILT FREE pickles (make your own pickles cuz y not)

  • Store bought pickles always tasted too salty & overpowering for me. I grew up with Mama Kim’s pickles.. definitely catered for the Korean taste-buds though haha. If you’re not careful, you WILL catch yourself eating the whole jar! Happy Pickle Making everyone~
    -----------------------------------
    Ingredients:
    12 Cucumbers (see video for size reference)
    1 cup - sugar
    1 cup - vinegar
    2 cup - water
    4 bay leaves
    -----------------------------------
    Instructions:
    1. Rinse your cucumbers thoroughly
    2. Cut your cucumbers to your liking & put them in a jar
    2. Make your brine mixture using sugar, vinegar water, and bay leaves
    3. Bring your brine to a boil
    4. Shortly after, fill your jar of cucumbers with the brine
    5. Leave out (don’t refrigerate) for 24 hours, then put in the fridge
    6. Enjoy after 1-7 days (up to you!)

    Mama Kim is an ICON! She IS that girl, the moment, and everything in between! Our generation's Rachel Ray, but WAAAAAY better! Thank you for sharing, and I can't wait to learn so much more from Mama Kim! You can tell she has a lot of knowledge to share!

    Edit: My husband is allergic to pepper membranes and seeds (not deathly, it gets him high, but he doesnt like the feeling it gives him), so regular kimchi is almost always off the table for him, but he really wants to try it. ❤️

    Hello, I accidentally messed up the measurements so i did 1:1:1 will that mess up my brine in a bad way? since the water and the vinegar and the salt are all the same in measurements?

    Pickles are never guilty of anything, you're just strange, but also, 1 cup of sugar does not equal "guilt free", unless of course you usually use 2 cups of sugar.

    i personally don't like labeling foods as guilt free since it assigns morality to food but those do look very tasty and great for a light refreshing snack or to put on a sandwich! I'll have to try this recipe some time ☺️

    Not so much guilt free because of sugar but I've made maangchi's chicken mu with allulose/splenda and they turn out just as good. P.S. tell Mama Kim we're all waiting for her to adopt us! 🥰
