love your mum, she reminds me of my sister -- great fun and witty. ... the best way to pick most fruit is if you smell the fruit and if it actually smells like the fruit it's usually ripe and good... watermelon is only good if it has seeds. seedless watermelon is conspiracy to make the farmers buy more seeds instead of saving seeds (causing a monopoly). the seedless variety doesn't taste good, the ones that have seeds not only taste best but they have the best texture. and of course, seedless deprives kids the joy of spitting seeds in the yard and volunteer watermelon plants growing in the flower beds. :nods sagely:

The canned goods at Aldi are worth the trip alone! My pantry is stocked with their black beans, corn, tomatoes with green chiles, italian diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans and chick peas.

In Sweden we don’t have Aldi but in we have another German store chain called Lidl. Aldi reminds me a lot of how the Lidl stores looks like, with the seasonal section and all the other aisles. So... even though I can’t go to Aldi and have a no egg Craig adventure, Lidl is pretty close to same experience! Yay lol now you know that. 😄😂🌿
The Vegan Chemist Hi! what is some of the differences between Lidl and Aldi? We don't have Lidl yet in PA but many Aldi. Our Aldi didn't carry any of the newer vegan non meats like the chix and non-beef patties, nor most of the veggie burgers and no cheez or hot dogz. I was very disappointed to say the least. There are no Wegmans, Krogers, BJ but we do have Costco. Our Walmart doesn't carry Garden products either but Target does. Giant Eagle grocers carry limited vegan frozen faux meat products. We only have a handful of vegan restaurants anymore. Sad because we have a substantial vegan population here.
Where in PA are you? I am from PA. I think some of the differences are that there are more options maybe? Like, they have a bakery, larger frozen section, and more produce (including organic options). I didn't see any faux meat at Lidl, but allegedly they have tofu and a few accidentally vegan frozen stuff (like veggie burgers and spring rolls). The chocolate aisle is fairly big at my store with the only VEGAN chocolate covered raisins and nuts I have seen in a store (besides Craig's family's Hercules Candy which sells chocolate covered almonds - so good!). I remember Giant having a decent amount of vegan stuff when I visited one in central(ish) PA.

Thank you Momdre. Now I know how to get a cart at Aldi. I went shopping there twice and they don't have hand carts. I saw the carts outside but no one could tell me how to unlock them. Who knew that unlocking one requires a quarter? Nice way for Aldi to make money off of each shopper.
Actually when you return your cart and lock it into the other carts the quarter slot pops open again for you to take your quarter back and allows the next person to put their quarter in the cart.
Whoot!!! Your Aldi seems much less busy than mine. Maybe when the snow birds go back up North, it will be better! BTW my sister and I used to call Dad "popsicle" so when I hear you guys call Steve that, it brings back great memories of my Dad. Nice to see Momdre has time to grocery shop with you again!

Dressing...’...makes it less fatty’. Oops. Cronometer it. If something is say, 50% fat, it’ll be 50% for a drop or truckful. Less calories w/ added ingredients, but dressing will still be 50% fat.

I noticed some of the burgers are back at my local Aldi. They're in a different section now, though - the upright freezers. They had Quinoa "Crunch," ?Black Bean Chipotle?, and a straight veggie burger that I hadn't seen before (not the kale one). They also have the vegan hot dogs again. (Those were new, weren't they, or did I just never see them before?) The burgers all taste good, just wish they weren't so damn... mushy. Burgers aren't supposed to *ooze* out the other end of the sandwich when you take a bite. 8-P

Yum cauliflower soup, I make cauliflower and lettuce soup with a touch of curry powder that is my favorite. Haha we have a saying "don't get the rough end of the pineapple"....Poor Terry she got it
The special purchases infuriate me when it's their brand packaging. Yep, most the items labeled vegan in my local store, that just opened this year, have disappeared. If I ask, the missing vegan item was a special purchase. I wish you would show more of the prices, we get ripped off. That hummus your eating tastes awful. I don't know how you eat it. Homemade is the best and lowest cost.
One of my doctors when I was in my 20’s told me that my cholesterol was 397. He wanted me to start eating more soy products so he told me about a new brand of frozen dinners that were made. He said that they were expensive and gave me tons of coupons. Very nice of him. I went to the store and bought the breakfast sausage first. I didn’t want to spend a lot in case I didn’t like the products. I brought it home, cooked them on Saturday morning for the family. I noticed that they weren’t browning. I cooked them for 30 minutes. Then I tried one. Nope! I threw them out in the back yard for our beagles. They ran over, sniffed them then backed up...looked at me and seriously buried them in the back yard. I would tell you the Brand name but I don’t want to get sued. I haven’t seen you buy that brand yet, but even if you do, I’m not gonna say anything. I really enjoy watching you guys shop.

My Aldi is closed for a remodel until the end of June! :'( I'll have to shop vicariously through these videos. I believe the General's name is pronounced So (sew) but I think that even depends who you ask because it is pronounced differently in different areas of Asia. Hmm seems like the cart is not quite as full as it used to be since Craig and Cara moved out LOL Hmmm pineapple...I got a bag of dried pineapple rings at WalMart today for just a dollar. I tried them from Nature Box and I'm addicted. A few weeks ago I went to dinner at a Mediterranean place and had pita bread dipped in hummus...and also tried tahini for the first time...and falafel. Yum! May have to change my name from Farfalle to Falafel LOL

I love the shop with Mom vids! Yeah I do that at Aldi too -- just take the cart out to my car and load the groceries straight into my trunk into boxes (from Aldi). Then I carry the boxes into the house.

My son and I were just at a ALDI last week, they have pretty good food. My son bought a Irish cheddar cheese cylinder and it is delicious. Also they have a nice fruit and produce aisle..I will go there again soon.👍
I have to watch my potassium intake because of a heart condition. If I ate 3 bananas in a day for 3or 4 days the potassium levels in my body would counteract the medication I take, enough so my heart would slow to a crawl. I have an implanted defibrillator to monitor how slowly my heart beats and shock me if it senses an irregular heart rhythm.
at some time in my life my then boyfriend smoked like a chimney, I always bothered him to stop. thinking he was smarter then me (fool) he told me if I stopped using salt he would quit smoking, well that was over years ago, I do not use salt on my food, can't stop it being in food but the only food I love that is salty is Feta cheese Yaaaaaaay me
I buy the pot roast seasoning enough to make a gravy type broth and then cook whole mushrooms, carrots, turnips, celery root and put over mashed potatoes. Homemade bread Yummmm

FYI my Aldi got the chicken tenders back, but they've been keeping them in the regular freezers on the wall. Also, the dill cucumber hummus is bomb.
Yum cauliflower soup, I make cauliflower and lettuce soup with a touch of curry powder that is my favorite. Haha we have a saying "don't get the rough end of the pineapple"....Poor Terry she got it

The special purchases infuriate me when it's their brand packaging. Yep, most the items labeled vegan in my local store, that just opened this year, have disappeared. If I ask, the missing vegan item was a special purchase.

That hummus your eating tastes awful. I don't know how you eat it. Homemade is the best and lowest cost.
One of my doctors when I was in my 20’s told me that my cholesterol was 397. He wanted me to start eating more soy products so he told me about a new brand of frozen dinners that were made. He said that they were expensive and gave me tons of coupons. Very nice of him. I went to the store and bought the breakfast sausage first. I didn’t want to spend a lot in case I didn’t like the products. I brought it home, cooked them on Saturday morning for the family. I noticed that they weren’t browning. I cooked them for 30 minutes. Then I tried one. Nope! I threw them out in the back yard for our beagles. They ran over, sniffed them then backed up...looked at me and seriously buried them in the back yard. I would tell you the Brand name but I don’t want to get sued. I haven’t seen you buy that brand yet, but even if you do, I’m not gonna say anything. I really enjoy watching you guys shop.

Hmmm pineapple...I got a bag of dried pineapple rings at WalMart today for just a dollar. I tried them from Nature Box and I'm addicted.
A few weeks ago I went to dinner at a Mediterranean place and had pita bread dipped in hummus...and also tried tahini for the first time...and falafel. Yum! May have to change my name from Farfalle to Falafel LOL

I love blueberries. Especially in the summer. I freeze them and then just eat them frozen like little ice cream bits. Soooo good.
There was a large crunchy bug in my roasted red pepper hummus from Aldi last week. 🤮 Ruined it for me forever. I'd forgive them if they brought back Earth Grown products.

I love the shop with Mom vids! Yeah I do that at Aldi too -- just take the cart out to my car and load the groceries straight into my trunk into boxes (from Aldi). Then I carry the boxes into the house.

My son and I were just at a ALDI last week, they have pretty good food. My son bought a Irish cheddar cheese cylinder and it is delicious. Also they have a nice fruit and produce aisle..I will go there again soon.👍
Take your broken zipper to the dry cleaning most do repairs, hemming ect.. new zipper was $7 here

I have to watch my potassium intake because of a heart condition. If I ate 3 bananas in a day for 3or 4 days the potassium levels in my body would counteract the medication I take, enough so my heart would slow to a crawl. I have an implanted defibrillator to monitor how slowly my heart beats and shock me if it senses an irregular heart rhythm.
at some time in my life my then boyfriend smoked like a chimney, I always bothered him to stop. thinking he was smarter then me (fool) he told me if I stopped using salt he would quit smoking, well that was over years ago, I do not use salt on my food, can't stop it being in food but the only food I love that is salty is Feta cheese Yaaaaaaay me

I buy the pot roast seasoning enough to make a gravy type broth and then cook whole mushrooms, carrots, turnips, celery root and put over mashed potatoes. Homemade bread Yummmm
