Im rewatching this for about the 5th time. This was the first video of you guys i ever watched, after searching for how to make seitan. The "sausage massage" moment is what sold me on the whole no egg/hercules franchise, and i've never looked back.
I subscribed to you a week ago and I've been binge-watching all your videos. The banter between you and your family keeps me coming back for more!! I've been procrastinating making seitan for the first time... I see this video. The universe is sending me a sign.. 😂
If you are interested you can purchase vital wheat gluten in number 10 cans from Honeyville grain online and that size can is 3/5 pounds and it costs $14.50 or so. The price goes down if you buy a case of six cans. Unopened it has a 30 year shelf life. Hope that helps.
My pleasure! I think they also have nutritional yeast as well, but I haven't checked that in a while. I use the gluten in my wheat bread I make from wheat I grind. It is necessary. I have to say I may have to give these sausages a try!
After watching the Chicken, Gravy and Biscuit Recipes video twice, I had to make it. As you can imagine, it was magic. I have a feeling that is how this one will go too. I want to cook with Chef Momdre Terry.
Try to "veganize" boudin blanc seitan! Use the same recipe minus tarragon. Now Add 3 cups cooked glutinous white rice, 2 boxes of veg stock with 2 bay leaves boiled 5 mins, 5 ribs of celery minced, 2 large yellow onions minced, 1 bunch parsley minced, 2 bunches of green onions minced, increase to 1 T garlic, 2 t salt, 1T cayenne pepper, 2 t black pepper, 2 t white pepper and don't forget the liquid amino's. MIX Then roll up in foil and steam. I added some organic Smart Balance to the foil to prevent sticking. PS: lightly browned (or burnt) rice gives an added crunch and nuttiness.
so I used the seasonings and cooking method from you but I used northern beans and oat flour....they came out great.I will use this recipe instead of the meatless sausage recipe I have used before

I make these "sausages" too. I wrap them individually in foil, place them on a baking sheet then bake @ 350 degrees for about 40 minutes turning them every 10 minutes. You can freeze them after cooked.
Protip! Put the fennel in the food processor dry and process it alone first! Or, even better, a coffee grinder will work like a dream to grind spices. 😊 I love adding fresh ground fennel to pasta sauce. Even if i don't add veggie crumbles it has a "meaty" vibe about it that reminds me of my mom's when I was little.

Hi there, if you leave your lentels in water over night, and then cook in a pressure cooker the next day, your lentils will be cooked in 10 15 minutes! Then you´ll have fresh lentels instead of can!

I know this video is many years old, but a little thing that I do if I have a bag like the one you're using here and I need to pour it out, I close about 2/3 of the zip closure, that way it pours out easier and cleaner. No fuss, no muss!! Lol
I know this is an old vid, but Terry, you should go to the Goodwill and check out their kitchen tools, you can get those fancy steamer things you got for $10,for like 50 cents there. There are tons of awesome antique baking pans and gadgets there all of the time, from people taking their older loved one's belongings there after after they pass away. I found like 10 netti pots still in packages there one time, I bought them all, lol..

I made a vegan meatloaf a while back. I cook for 1 person so I needed to slice it individually and freeze some. It was allot like this recipe.... I don't think I used fennel though. Grab a coffee grinder from z thrift stowto grind whole spices. They are cheaper and taste so much more flavor packed. I spend under a quarter for all my spices, than before when I bought preground spices.
Can we get a momdre style cookbook of all of her favorite, best vegan recipes? Because I'm seriously considering going vegan but have no idea where to start or what I should be looking for to make sure I get the proper nutrition. If that makes any sense whatsoever. I have alot of chronic pain issues stemming from problems with my central and autonomic nervous systems. So I'm willing to try anything.

Enjoy your posts very much! I've noticed in past videos your sink faucet head that with a flip of a lever becomes a rinser. I was curious as to what that model is. Mine has a separate rinse hose off to the side of the faucet and it wastes water by not stopping the flow of water from the faucet while I use it.
Vegeta from Croatia is a great vegan bouillon. Gluten you can make from wheat flour by washing dough :P I'm guessing you can settle the wash water to make wheat starch. I've never tried cause wheat and gluten containing grains make me ill for a week :s
So did my mother and so do I. Maybe I took mom’s... But the most useful one I have is from a neighbor’s garage sale. It has a handle and holds a 15oz can of beans for rinsing. Just right for one-person servings of fruits and veg also. The current cats are not interested in such things, although I’ve had feline closet vegetarians in the past. As well as some who liked to bat grapes under the couch (I would find them as raisins).
Love your interactions & channels! I got really excited about this recipe until...gluten! And then ...foil. You've been vegan/Vegitarian longer than I so maybe you have some ideas. Any ideas on gluten alternatives that would work in this recipe? Do you think Flax meal would be a good substitute? Then....I wonder if parchment paper OR those rice wrappers used for spring/summer rolls would work rather than foil?

Fennel is the best! I like throwing a few seeds in just about any Italian recipe, and especially quick homemade pasta sauce.

If you put the fennel in the food processor before putting anything else in it, the food processor will grind the herbs. Looks really good though.

You could always put anise in instead too if you like. I've made these several times. I really like them with spaghetti and with pizza!
Fennel and Anise are actually the same, I work at a grocery store and the two are used interchangeably
Similar but not the same...one has a sharper flavor, one a more mellow one...but in the same flavor family. :)

No such thing as too much, you can eat only fruit for a whole day and be very healthy (and very regular) and yes they can be frozen

Enjoy your posts very much! I've noticed in past videos your sink faucet head that with a flip of a lever becomes a rinser. I was curious as to what that model is. Mine has a separate rinse hose off to the side of the faucet and it wastes water by not stopping the flow of water from the faucet while I use it.

Gluten you can make from wheat flour by washing dough :P I'm guessing you can settle the wash water to make wheat starch. I've never tried cause wheat and gluten containing grains make me ill for a week :s

So did my mother and so do I. Maybe I took mom’s... But the most useful one I have is from a neighbor’s garage sale. It has a handle and holds a 15oz can of beans for rinsing. Just right for one-person servings of fruits and veg also. The current cats are not interested in such things, although I’ve had feline closet vegetarians in the past. As well as some who liked to bat grapes under the couch (I would find them as raisins).

I got really excited about this recipe until...gluten! And then ...foil. You've been vegan/Vegitarian longer than I so maybe you have some ideas. Any ideas on gluten alternatives that would work in this recipe? Do you think Flax meal would be a good substitute? Then....I wonder if parchment paper OR those rice wrappers used for spring/summer rolls would work rather than foil?
