Agree totally, their original version of the song was much better. The original had emotion. This version sounds like you covered yourself with butter and danced with the washer in spin.
@@blue-sc1se - there are good songs in every genre - but what I didn't like about many disco songs was the dulling of emotion - there was a superficiality, a sense that one didn't care one way or the other. I agree. The original is better, all that annoying noise ruins the greatness of original. The song Lean on Me is also a remix. They did the same crap to Summer Breeze.
You'll notice Franki holds the phones up to his ear when he starts to sing. He was losing his hearing at this time during 1970s. He also does this in the "Who Loves You" video as well. Surgery in 1980 restored most of his hearing.
Great reaction - a rocker myself I took an interest in Frankie Valli after I watched his biopic film Jersey Boys based on the play. Very interesting how the Four Seasons style changed from Doo woo days to this sophisticated 70s piece
When I was in between 7th and 8th grade my grandmother bought me Motown’s Greatest Hits. Discovered Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons among many other legends.
Great reaction from you. Love that the drummer was singing. I think this was re-released when I was a kid in the 90s as this version. Big hit again and all over the radio. The lyrics are hilarious and it's beyond catchy.
The stright version is sooo much better, the remix takes away from the greatness of the song!!! Also.. tell it to the rain by Frankie and the 4 seasons is awesome
@Hillary's emails to Lorne yes!!!!!! But this was NOT true with THE FOUR SEASONS!!!!! Bob Gaudio was trying to launch THE FOUR SEASONS as a seperat Act!!!! In otherwords By themselves. Frankie Valli was on a Different recording contact with PRIVATE STOCK Records. The FOUR SEASONS were on WARNER/CURB at the time!!!!!
I think of seen most of your reaction videos. Your reaction to the Righteous Bros. I loved. I'm from that time. I became a Dave Clark Five fan at 14 when I heard Glad All Over I'll be 70 next year and still listens to their albums yes albums. Keep making me smile with your reactions.
Ahhhh! Love this song! It's one of my favorites, it's so cool and fun to dance to! It was awesome to see you bobbing your head to the beat and digging it. :)
There is a film and a stage production of "Jersey Boys" which is the life story of the rise to fame in the 60s of Frankie Valle & the Four Seasons. I was in high school, when they hit the pop charts with one hit after another, so many! We all knew the words to each & every song. See the film; it is amazing.
MRM, this was one of my favorite reactions from you. I love when your playful nature really comes out as you chastise that Southern church (though they didn’t do anything different than many many others have done). Keep up the good work!
I first heard this song in 1975. A friend brought the 45 RMP single in to school and we listened to it during a free time between class. I was in the 8th grade.
I had to look at a couple of things. Frankie Valli was Italian heritage, you saw him with an Afro hairdo, don't get mad it was 1975. Ok I kept say this is an older song the video was showing. When when Frankie was actively touring the group was Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. When this video was shot it was only the 4 Seasons and Frankie made the song what it is so they had him record it and hype it with them. The first time Oh What a Night was released was December 1963. As I already I said what I listened to was in 1975. I didn't check his age, but Frankie was getting up there in years. He didn't use his falsetto voice, but you know that's how it goes.
Hollywood actor Joe Pesci (Goodfellas, Casino, My Cousin Vinny) was a friend of group member Tommy DeVito. Pesci was around during the group's formation and was responsible for introducing DeVito and Valli to singer/songwriter Bob Gaudio.👍
@@sadfaery No not related but Joe Pesci did play the character Tommy Devito in the Goodfellas which is his friends name and coincidental so maybe your thinking of that but non were related just friend but without Joe introducing those two the four seasons might not have happened 👍☺️
Back in the sixties, when I was a young teen, my friend Mary LOVED the Four Seasons. I remember that about her over everything else. Mary, wherever you are..still remember the good times. ( I thought you were going to say something about the "old-fashioned" plastic straws, guy! )
I was 12 years old when "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" hit No. 1 in the spring of 1976. It was my best friend Jeanne's and my favorite song (we both bought the 45 vinyl record when it came out) because we were both born in late December 1963! LOL. And for some reason, some radio deejay started playing a remix of it (with more of a danceable drum beat) on the air 17 years later in 1993-94, and the song caught on and spread across the nation once again and reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 during its second chart run. As 30-year-olds, we both bought cassette singles of the song the second time around. :-)
I fell in love with the 4 Seasons when I was in 6th grade & have followed them ever since! I can't believe that Frankie Valle is still performing at age 83! He is still hitting those high notes!! Group has been around from early 60s love them he still sings at special concerts...when they have some groups from the doo wop era.. gotta keep that music alive!

I saw Frankie Vali perform live in the late 70’s or early 80’s. It was during the period that Frankie was trying to work off the gambling debt of one of his former bandmates and was touring like a dog to ensure the guy didn’t get “offed“ by the mob. I didn’t know that at the time, but learned it from watching Jersey Boys live and in film several times. “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” is my favourite FV song.
