Theeeee Greatest, How can anyone watch this and have a doubt. QUEEN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely, Roger's power and range gave Freddy the freedom to fly, gave him the underpinning that allowed him to stretch. People don't realize how much a great backup singer does for the lead. You listen to Pat Benatar, most of her work was her doing her own, and even live a good bit of the time. There just weren't enough singers that could do what she needed. Mot of her lead vocals were in the middle of her range, and her backups were below and above, layered in 7ths and 9ths as well as sometimes two octaves above with full inflections and emotions.
@@wolf762x51 well said indeed. I always focus on Rogers vocals as i think hes amazing but most people only hear Freddie which means they miss out on another aspect of Queens wonderful sound.
During one performance, early in Queen's career, Freddie tried raising the mic stand and it broke off. He went on performing with the stand in hand and liked it. It became his trademark.
This was from LIVE AID which was a benefit concert to provide funds for the famine in Ethiopia. You should check out this concert. Freddie Mercury led the entire crowd in singing exercise. It was crazy how he was able to get the tens of thousands of people that were in Wembley Stadium to sing on key! He was truly masterful.
@@TheFEaves This was Queen in Montreal 1981. This song: Somebody To Love, wasn’t a song at Live Aid. But I agree they were magnificent at Live Aid and stole the show which was quite a feat considering all the wonderful artists involved!
This is the first time I've ever seen someone say don't subscribe until you've actually watched my content and like it. So sick of the immediate request to subscribe. Well done dude.
Freddie had a pitch perfect voice and had the talent to entertain everybody in the audience, didn't matter if you were standing front row or standing way in the back! Freddie is BOSS!
He also co-wrote the opera album Barcelona along with Mike Moran that Mercury performed along with opera diva Monserrat Caballe. Incredibly talented legends.
Alive and in concert - wow this group of four who became one with each performance was the very definition of awesome. Their talent is above and beyond and I love being 70 and seeing this young guy feeling and reacting as I/we did back in the 70's. Good music is universal and timeless and is found in all genre's. Thanks for what you do.
I love that you listen to the entire song before you comment. So many "reaction" videos are the commenter constantly interrupting the video, and it is annoying.
LIVE-AID 1985 in HD....you WILL find the pinnacle of Freddie's charisma and the hold he had on the fans. It's 24 minutes that you wish you'd been there for. This is the one that slays them all!
I love how at 4:06 when he holds that note and twist around it sounds like he throws his voice into Brian's guitar and it carries the note on out for him. Pure skill!
Best unofficial Heineken beer commercial ever!!!😂(top of piano) Now let's talk about John Deacon! In every single live performance with queen, he looks like he's strolling through the home depot picking out paint. 😂😂😂
I was fortunate enough to see Queen live in 1978, fantastic show. Two of my favorites, out of many, are Melancholy Blues from the News Of The World album Freddie's singing on that song is fabulous and '39 from A Night At The Opera, that song is written and sung by Brian May. Great reaction, keep doing what you're doing.
I have never in my life wanted to or been inspired to throw my bra on stage during a concert. I'm not wired that way. I mean I literally don't feel those types of emotions. But this music speaks to me on such a level that if I'd ever been able to attend any Queen concerts at the time, I likely would've embarrassed myself.
My fav live performance of this song ❤️ Freddie that high note he hits he just blows me away so glad I had more time to enjoy Queens music I’m a 1972 baby . Also glad the younger generations are being introduced to Queens music 🎵 thanks for another honest reaction 👍
Baby boomer here - was in college when "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out. I heard so many of his songs on the radio but had no idea what he looked like until I began watching these videos....lol.
Freddie was,the trailblazer when it came to audience participation. That started with Radio Ga Ga at the Live Aid concert. You would love that one. Freddie could hit up to 7 different octives with his voice. There arent any other singers out there that can. So to really appreciate Queen and Freddie's vocals you need to jump into some of the other songs. I love how you said when this concert was aired you werent even thought of. You are a sweet young thing. I have been following then since the 70's. So the sonhs you should check out are: Who wants to Live Forever, written by Brian May,, who also sings with Freddie. Mother Love Princes of the Universe, from the Highlander movie You're My Best Friend Lily of the Valley Fat Bottom Girls Freddie's operatic vocals, that will send chills up your spine. I want to Break Free There are just so many songs written by each member of the band. As you can see I am,a HUGE Queen fan. Love the channel Ty and I really enjoy the live chats. I check my phone constantly to see if I have any notifications from you. Keep up the awesome work. I will just now. Much ❤❤❤
when those 2 songs first came out, I began grieving his demise...it was so sad then and now...so talented he was...RIP Freddie...surely missed, you are!
Who wants to live forever was used in the original Highlander movie. Then in the 90's tv spinoff it was always played near the end just before the end credits.
I'm so greatful that I got to see these magnificent bands live! Queen is so unique, Freddie was a great showman but also a great musician too! Rest in peace Freddie Mercury! You are dearly missed. 💔😔💔
According to what he says in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie "I couldn't sing off key if I wanted to" but that could be wrong! He may not have said that in real life
That was one inspired performance! I saw an opera singer/voice coach react to this. She was also impressed by the drummer - the fact that he could sing so well with his head twisted around to the mike while, at the same time, totally killing it on the drum set. The whole band was fantastic.
Well, the Bo Rap you saw was the official finessed video version. This one was live, and actually at a faster tempo than the record. Lots of riffing, especially with the whole band at the end. Freddie was a legendary frontman, but he wasn't the only one who made the band great. All of them are fabulous musicians and it's not just Freddie improvising here - the others are too, seamlessly and as a unit. That's what makes them so brilliant.
Freddie is so awesome! He is so awesome that they have a 4 day celebration and birthday for Freddie Mercury every year in Montreux, Switzerland. Fans from all over the world are there. I go every year and I'm from Massachusetts
He is six years older here than he was in the original Bohemian Rhapsody video. You can kind of tell what year it is by Freddie's look. The thin, long haired look was his early to mid-70's look, the "Bohemian Rhapsody" look. Then shorter hair but no moustache in the late 70s. The moustache started to come in the early 80s and he got a bit more muscular by the mid-80s during the Live Aid era. In some of their late 80s videos he started to grow a beard to help cover places on his skin from battling AIDS. And, of course, he was very thin and emaciated in his last appearances. Does that sound about right to other Queen fans?
Sounds spot on to me. I'd just add that his look here and in Live Aid is called "The Castro Look" as it was popular in the gay community in the Castro area of San Francisco during those years. Included that type of t-shirt and skinny jeans.
Qthelost yup pretty much right on. Maybe add that around late 87 to 89ish he got extremely puffy due to the aids medication which made his poor face puff up a bit :(
I hope you know what you do is so important. I have depression. I was diagnosed when I was 17 (I'm 36 now). I've always been able to deal with it so that it didn't have a major impact on my life. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with some other chronic illnesses that caused me to have to leave my job. Then my father's health took a bad turn and he is now currently awaiting a lung transplant. I ended up moving back in with my parents to save money and take care of my dad. My depression got much worse and I cut myself off from everyone but my immediate family. I started watching your videos and some other music reaction videos and I noticed they really brought me joy. When reflecting on this I realized that while I am so thankful to be here to help my parents, I missed my friends. I missed just hanging out, talking, listening to music. Getting into debates over a bands best song. Talking about what memories a certain song brings up, etc, etc. You made me see that I was just existing and that I needed my friends to help me dig out of this depression. I've recently reconnected with people that I love and I can feel that things are getting better. I don't have a job at the moment but when I do have some extra money I will definitely become a patron on your patreon channel. Thank you for what you do! You are a blessing!
Mr Mercury wrote this for the Great Ms. Franklin... or with her talent in mind... is was his favourite to perform and the most beautiful gospel song ever imo. bless. love watching you see the amazing music.
"Don't Stop Me Now" is one of my faves, I think you'll like it too. Also, anything from the "It's A Kind Of Magic" album. Because a lot of that was used in the Highlander film. :D
One of the greatest performances!!! Freddie had a singing voice of 4-5 octaves. He’s still ranked as the top male rock singer. He even sang with opera singers. He was a musical genius writing, performing, singing, and playing the piano. We miss Freddie!

I think they were on the same 45 but I may totally be mistaken on that. Enjoy Queen. They are getting a lot of attention this year I think because of the movie....but there have been true Queen fans ever since they started. Crazy fans. Which reminds me of another you might like.... Crazy little thing called love. When I recommend for you I think about the kind of music you like and those tight harmonies. You'll like all these I promise.
That was off the charts awesome and to hear you didn’t really like it upsets me. I will say you have every right to your opinion and respect you for being honest.
Freddie definitely had seasoning in his performances. He was born in Zanzibar Tanzania and grew up in India! He took boxing classes and some piano as well.
Much like Steely Dan, Queen's studio albums were examples of perfection, over and over again. On the other hand, if you ever got to see Freddie Mercury on stage live, you've seen one of the best performers ever to walk the face of the earth.
Yep. This was an outtake from his medley at Liveaid in the UK. The whole performance was considered the high point of Queens career. When it was over Elton John burst into the Green Room full of who’s who in the business and yelled out,” The ole boy has done it he’s stolen the show!” It’s worth watching the whole performance.
U need to watch the whole thing! Part of what makes it iconic is the bit just before he sits at the piano, when he's warming the audience up for this sing!
oh yeah i understand. The way i see it.. we get born.. go through a ridiculous amount of suffering and misery.. then die. Thats life. Enjoy! Lol just kidding.
1981 I was 11 years old and in 6th grade_ graduated from high school in 1987, grew up in the middle of the 80’s, best generation for music as a kid hanging out at the skating rink every weekend and most days since I was a competitive skater, yes we did all the same jumps and spins the ice skaters did just with 8 wheels vs. a single blade on each skate. I competed from 11-18 years old it kept me out of trouble my coach had a very strict code of conduct for us kids especially when we were out of town at competitions, I grew up in Northern California, closest ice rink was the Charles Shultz rink in Santa Rosa 2.5 hours away over really winding roads through Napa and Calistoga, which got snow in the winter sometimes you couldn’t get over the mountain.
I was at that concert in 1981, I was 15 . It was my first live concert ... and as you can imagine.... yes ! I was blown away :)

How can hearing Freddie not make you smile and give you goosebumps.? ❤❤❤
U need to watch the whole thing! Part of what makes it iconic is the bit just before he sits at the piano, when he's warming the audience up for this sing!
This makes me smile, and I needed to smile, my pain level has been high today.
oh yeah i understand. The way i see it.. we get born.. go through a ridiculous amount of suffering and misery.. then die. Thats life. Enjoy!
Lol just kidding.
@@Simon0 thanks I needed that laugh to
1981 I was 11 years old and in 6th grade_ graduated from high school in 1987, grew up in the middle of the 80’s, best generation for music as a kid hanging out at the skating rink every weekend and most days since I was a competitive skater, yes we did all the same jumps and spins the ice skaters did just with 8 wheels vs. a single blade on each skate.
