- This will be my 486th video.....and it is, in my opinion, the best video I have ever made. We started our first video out by catching a 5 lb bass in a pond a few miles from my house, and somehow we made it to catching a 400 pound Arapaima in the jungles of Guyana.

That fish would be the least of my worries in that water. It's the tiny fish, the snakes, the parasites, the mosquitoes, and venomous insects that I would be worried about.
They don't even bite! Just... jump at you and break all your bones on contact! Sounds pretty fun, doesn't it?
400 pounds and 9 feet long!!!??? What is the record? This is world class my friend!
I just looked it up the record is 415lb 8oz and it was 13ft long and caught on fly gear.
I forgot to add it was caught in the same place he's fishing in the video.

@@raymonddriggers Lol, it's very common for Arapaima to get over 200lbs... he's also fishing were the largest Arapaima live. I would guess 300-350lbs, but Paul probably knows better than anyone.

For days I kept seeing this thumbnail and thought it was some kind of joke. The guy in the water really looks like someone put an action figure next to a regular size fish. Insane video, glad I finally watched it.

I also feel that you should speak to other RUclipsrs you admire as well as any pro shops to find out what they feel or know what brings in the most views. Being in TX, I thought you’d do more Bass fishing. Just think of how many anglers need tips, tricks, guides in TX for all the fishing you haven’t been showing compared to what you have been posting? I’m concerned because in the pro music world I came from long before the Internet. I know what it’s like to break from security, have success, and then lose everything. I don’t wish that for you and am just trying to help with an old guys opinion about business and life.

All I can say about that whole trip, from taking the boat thru that flooded forest, to the epic fight w the fish once you hooked it, to the end where you're showing her off and seemingly almost too happy for words is WOW!!! Great job to all 3 of yall! That truly is a fish of a lifetime.

Here in Brazil there are a lot of these Pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) fish native in the Amazon River. It's not electric! His danger for being so heavy is those headbutts they give

Are those type of fish edible or more accurately considered "good" eating?
@@brownleatherboot277 they’re edible to the native people in the area. I believe that the Arapaima numbers are down in the more populated areas due to over harvesting and that’s why anglers have to go out to hidden lakes to find them. Especially ones of that size

Nothing gets old about it, the mystery of what’s on the other end of the line makes it a new experience every time! The little adrenaline rush while reeling em in, it’s almost as addictive as gambling IMO and a lot healthier too!

I caught a 72 lb. Blue Channel cat and I thought I was king dinga' Ling! Took me over 3 hours to get her in. What an awesome catch dude! I'll bet you felt that one for a few days.

Good God! That "creature" looks like something that should have gone extinct after the last asteroid impact! That was one incredible video of an even more incredible catch!
Prior to this video, I've only read about salvage divers working Civil War wrecks on the Mississippi River, coming back topside to tell the captain and foreman that if they wanted to salvage anything off "the wreck", they are going to have to suit-up and go down there themselves because they encountered catfish big enough that they could swallow a Volkswagon Beetle! Your catch really drives home those old stories in Field and Stream of the 1970's era!!!
