Sometimes the file can't be deleted because another program is using it, in which case closing that program will often allow the file to be deleted. Although the simplest thing to do is to restart the computer and then try deleting the file. That will close out anything that might be using the file.
The power trip I get from deleting a folder from a video game that was fighting me to the death over being deleted by using the power of the console is thrilling. Thank you.

Thank you. This has been an issue with Windows 11 not wanting to delete files/folders that I want removed. These command prompts are great, I had a MS OFFICE folder in the programs directory, which is x64 files, that was refusing to delete from the command prompt. So with the help of unLock it, I was able to successfully remove that folder, making me, one happy camper.

Mine contains a program that I cannot uninstall. I cannot find it in the settings or in Task Manager. When I am deleting it says "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program".
@@prodigyink yap, I open the app. Once it show itself in the task manager I then end it and delete the program. It's actually the service stopping me from deleting it.
I put my PS2 folder in the directory and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 2 is unzipped and is an ISO file now and despite me following this video's instructions nothing works so what can I do to remedy this? Create a Live Linux USB and boot to that, navigate to then delete the files from within the Live Linux session then reboot and all should be fine again.
I thought it didnt work until i restarted my PC and I put in the folder cmd and the folder still appeared but then when i put it in again it said folder didn't exist , it worked! thank you.
omg! that unluck software just removed a folder that have been bugging me for MONTHS! so freaking annoying, kept getting "access denied" and permissions errors. And I was like "Whaaaaat!!!?! I don't wanna deal with permissions, that why I bought a windows machine" but apparently permission hell can also exist on windows. No cmd or power shell commands were able to remove the folder, they errored out as well. Also tried following all Microsoft guide i could find about changing ownership, editing r/w permissions, changing admin privileges etc. NOTHING worked. but that emco software just removed the folder like it was nothing. Hi. Didn't you do a video showing that for the inexpensive Win key you could not use the "change product key" button, that you had to do a fresh install and then apply the inexpensive key. (i actually watched the video and did a fresh install and it worked for me.)

When I tried safe mode, 3 of my 5 SSDs wouldn't open, I had to "Open in New Window", which worked, but still, to delete that Windows Folder, this time the error message was "You need trustedinstaller to detele this" (trusted installer 1 word). I'm using WIndows 11. EDIT: (Below): I was finally able to delete it! But not through "Auditing Permissions via Advanced Properties" - I followed Win 10 advice and I guess there's an extra layer of security in Windows 11? Some buttons were in other locations as well from screenshots. So what worked was making an ownership registry script.. Holy moly that wasn't easy for a non-programmer like me (I'm more Hardware & Third Party Software person over Coding).

Emco worked great on a file that was controlled Trusted Installer. I had tried all the steps suggested to unlock it. Thanks!
