    Some great ideas there Mike, I will try some. Just bought 2 old tumble machines here in the UK for £49, which included grits, polish, 3 barrels with obsidian in , about 4 pounds of rocks in 2 trays, 3 bags of ceramic media, some jewellery rouge and even a timer plug. Second hand is a great place to add to your supplies.

    Hi Mike, VERY informative video! Your drill press grinder is really slick! You certainly put your noodle into overdrive!! Splash-guard catch basin bucket - love it!! Home Depot usually has a good selection of diamond blades. Thumbs up! Safety first! Jim

    When I was beveling glass, I built what is basically a flat lap out of an old automobile flywheel. I think I still have it around here sonewhere...

    This is great! I love the idea of making our own equipment, especially when the manufactured gear can cost so much. What rotational speed does the motor on your homemade tumbler run at? I've got an old buffing wheel I was considering adding a belt and rollers for tumbling larger barrels, but am not sure how rpm is impacted by weight on the rollers.

    Hmmm, I think I have/had a drill press that was left at my parent's house years ago when I moved. Will have to double check on that now. I also might know of someone who has a wet saw for tile that I can see if they are going to upgrade anytime soon. And our citywide rummage sale should be coming up here next month. Oh, the gears in my mind are spinning now, but I'm not too mechanically inclined, so that might be the only gears I'm spinning, so most likely not building my own😁 Thank you for all of the great ideas!

    I'm not into cutting stone but what Mike says is so true. Saws are easy to come by. For example: Delta makes a mitre saw called a Cruzer. They have a very handsome price tag. over 700. Found one at a pawn shop priced for 375 less than a year old. I asked what they would take for it, 250, out the door it went with me about 5 years ago. Still using it. You just have to be patient and look around. I also purchased a Craftsman 32 in radial arm saw from the same place for 50 bucks. Works like a champ

      @joek511 19 дней назад

      @@AsserYarafatso Thats the arm length as far as I know, never mesured it , lol. From the 60's, . Took some time to calibrate. Things were loose, gides, rollers. 10 inch blade.

      @@AsserYarafatsoNot sure why you’re calling bullshit on such an easy piece of equipment to look up on whatever search engine you use or eBay. I have one myself but I would have stated that mine is 36” because I’m certain that’s what the decal states. I bought it off a guy on FB sales sight over 4 years ago because it’s been 4 years since I got a 30 day FB jail sentence so I told Mark Fuckerberg to go fuck himself and deleted the whole damn shit show. The saw lived and worked in my son’s shop for a couple years and when he upgraded to a new DeWalt that takes up less than half the space I put it in my storage unit where it will stay until I get a heated concrete slab poured in my 28’ x 40’ man cave next summer. Anyways…I call bullshit on your bullshit call.

    The curved style of the hood on your rock saw suggests highland park lapidary. I could be wrong. As long as it works, thats all that matters.

    Now Mike did you perhaps loosen that brush cover before asking to try it out? Not saying that would be good or bad but would be pretty slick.

    About that dop station. I've been looking into making cabochons lately, and I came across the video in the link. About dopping with hot glue. I haven't tried it because I don't have all the equipment yet, but you might give it a go. I suppose you have some hot glue laying around somewhere :) ruclips.net/video/71TirmeNPyI/видео.html&ab_channel=LapidaryDave
