      ruby zoisite will do beautifully! I have some I want to polish but the pieces I have are too small. it's good to know they don't tumble well! thanks for that information! ☺️💜

      @thebroadhouse they tumble well they just won't polish I tried dry polishing in the rotary tumbler with tin oxide as well as with water just would not polish. I think using the dremel will work following your instructions 😊 thanks so much!

      @michellebelding2325 you're far more knowledgeable about tumbling than me. I have a couple, just nowhere to set them up currently. well I wish you the best of luck with your ruby zoisite and I hope to see you around again :) if you ever make any videos of your rocks tag us we'd love to see! 💜

    Do you ever place your Dremel into a holding device (vice, clamp, etc.) and move the rock surface to it? I want to get as flat a surface face as possible with my material. Great video!! Thanks for the instructions!

    Thank you! Looking to start with a Dremel but was not sure where to start. How long did it take you to go from start to finish and what sort of speed was the Dremel set at?

    • @thebroadhouse
      @thebroadhouse  Месяц назад

      It takes a few hours depending on the size and hardness. This calcite took about 3-4 hours whereas a piece of jasper I'm currently working on has that much time in it and I'm still not done shaping.

    Amber may be too harsh for this, I don't want to break it. ideas?

    • @thebroadhouse
      @thebroadhouse  Месяц назад +4

      Amber is soft like calcite! You should have no problem polishing amber with this method.

    Over and over, I keep getting to the point where a stone is looking great. Usually around 800 grit. Then, at some point in the high grit sanding, the stone starts to look cloudy, losing some of the transparency. Am I using too much pressure? I have water dripping over the stone. I can't figure it out.

    • @thebroadhouse
      @thebroadhouse  16 дней назад

      the same thing happens to me! when it does, I back down a couple of grits until it works it out and then spend more time on that lower grit before moving on. I think the cause is not spending enough time on the lower grits.
