    6:30 ''...not pretty and not worthy of tumbling...''
    They will look better after a couple of beers, trust me

    Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: First-time viewer here. Really enjoyed your video! I rockhunt chat and gravel piles to this day. That's how I got started in the hobby... in the feldspar and quartz gravel pile in our backyard . By the time I was 3 years old, I had quite a collection... my parents had pictures of me showing them off to anyone who listen. LoL!!😅

    Hey Mile great video. I sent it on to my grandson who is learning how to tumble. I think it makes a good instructional video 😊

    Another great video. Some of those turned out exceptional! My thought on the 2nd pile, tumble them some more. Is it possible that they just need more time due to hardness being different than pile one that took the nice polish quicker? Looking forward to seeing the batch you teased that was in the other tumbler! Thank you!

      I put most of the rocks in the second pile in with some other rocks I had that needed to go back to pre-polish. I think a lot of them were a bit softer than the ones that took a good polish. Not sure if they'll do any better second time around.

    Interesting experiment ty
    I may try and take some of the softer rejects and do a smaller test with them to see if they polish down. Just to see

    So now we are rock shaming? It's not the rocks fault that you don't find them pretty enough. I am not sure how to react to this

      Rocks tell a story.. the longer you study a rock, especially in the "wild".. it can tell you some crazy things

    Hey Mike I've an idea for you; Why don't you try wire wrapping some of those Rocks for jewelry and Sale it? I bet you could make you a little stash of money what'd you think Mike? 👍🤣

    • @MikesLapidaryFossils
      @MikesLapidaryFossils  7 месяцев назад +1

      I have an artist friend who does that. I'll probably be sending her some stuff to wire wrap. Unfortunately I don't have an artistic bone in my body (I'm an engineer). I'm trying to overcome that though.

    Why doesn't the grit wear away the tumbler

  • @sandramartin5155

    How much is your grit budget for a year can it be reused?

  • @andreaamplified
    @andreaamplified 6 месяцев назад +1

    Are you able to reuse the grit?

    • @MikesLapidaryFossils
      @MikesLapidaryFossils  6 месяцев назад +1

      Not the heavier grits. They break down in use. In theory the polish could be reused, but it would take some effort to clean it up. Generally I just use new at each stage.
