Step Stool with quick adjust legs.

Here is my new step stool with quick adjust legs. With one shake legs will come out giving it a new height, now it can be used as a small chair. Easy to make using plywood, screws, nuts and bolts.

I prefer the idea of two nested stools. A little heavier than your design, but it still gives you two different heights (and the difference in heights can be quite large if desired). In addition, it can give you two stools to be used at the same time.
