    I would just like to say that you are great inspiration to me. I know you have challenges with your hands. I recently cut the tendon and nerve to my thumb. I've been a carpenter for 25 yrs. it feels like I'm learning all over again.... keep up the good work.

    Great build. I recently made a kerfmaker and regret making it like 8 inches long! I think I will take some inspiration from you and construct a small one. Much more handy for setting up with stops on a small crosscut sled. Thanks for sharing!

    That's a neat little Jig Jack I will have to put that on my list of jigs that I need to make 🤗🤗🤗
    I can not afford a dado stack here in Australia it's hard enough to buy a fixed benchsaw I only have a triton bench saw setup which Dad bought 20 years ago and as such I have been making a lot of jigs for it so,that I can work around the short comings of what I am using 😹😹😹 I just finished my 3rd crosscut sled in the last few days 12000x600mm still shocked at getting the settings perfect after doing the 5cut test 😲😹😹 my first two took me a while to get right maybe because I made them both out of scrap wood but this new one out of brand new sheet of MDF 😹😹😹
    You have made so many neat jigs Over the past year and other projects too some of them are on my to make list 😹😹😹
    Thanks for a great tutorial love watching your videos 🤗🤗🤗

    Lovely little jig, so delightfully simple and useful. The name threw me at first but now it makes sense although I wondered if dado or "housing joint" maker might be a more useful title for you. Perhaps it could also be adapted as a blade height setting tool too.

    • @Jacka440
      @Jacka440  7 лет назад

      definition of a kerf "a slit made by cutting, especially with a saw."

    • @springwoodcottage4248
      @springwoodcottage4248 7 лет назад

      Jack Houweling Yes, but your device makes a much larger width cut out than the kerf of the saw. Still a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

    Sorry, main point Jack is I made one and it is handy for making smaller box's rather than working with my big one.Keep em coming Jack.

      1/8" is the thickness of a standard sawblade.

    Wanted to ask if you are Dutch because your last name certenly is... Than i heard you talk fluent English and that's when I thought you are Canadian... And than I saw the Canadian sticker... And maybe ( sorry ) you are old enough to still know the Dutch language because many Dutch people went to Canada in the late 50's I guess. Soooo. Goedemorgen meneer. Ik heb genoten van uw filmpje!

      No. I have seen a few and they were all too large, so I wanted to design my own mini Kerfmaker.

  • @tonytait8107
    @tonytait8107 7 лет назад

    Neat idea, I've made a slightly larger one and it works well. HOWEVER..... I was cringing a lot while watching this. No riving knife, sawing towards your hand, etc. I know it looks like you have all your fingers at an age comparable to mine, but safety really doesn't take any longer, and you should consider the example you are setting for your viewers. Prepare for the worst case, and enjoy the best case.

    Respect for the DIY ambition, it's a real 'fuck the system' attitude. But seriously..!!, this guy is dangerous, the amount of times he could've lost his fingers, holy shit. All the newbies watching this and wanting to try it out, might aswell stick their hands in a meat grinder. Daaaaammnnnn..!!

    • @SAHBfan
      @SAHBfan 7 лет назад

      I didn't see him do anything dangerous. He uses pusher stick, uses a sled to support the wood, no free hand unsecured cuts. What is the problem?

    • @TVBASICINFO
      @TVBASICINFO 7 лет назад

      SAHBfan watch again, it begins at 1.40., then at 3.31 and at 5.45... that is not the way to use a table saw with such a small object and hands so close..!!

  • @theof5645
    @theof5645 7 лет назад

    Yep, you did indeed show how to make it. But it would have been useful if you had explained just what you were doing. Doesn't matter anyway, if I want to cut kerfs, I know of an adjustable one, simpler to make, easier to use.

    You are scaring me. Your fingers are way too close to blade if you slip. Kickback is almost a certainty going to happen. Spend the $$$ and get a grr-Ripper. You won’t be disappointed.

    Who has time to fiddle fuck around with some Mickey Mouse jig when you can use a stack dado head and improve your accuracy by 1000percent.. I guess some people just like to make a lifelong career out of a simple little project.

    • @snowdog90210
      @snowdog90210 7 лет назад +9

      With his jig, he can cut dados that fit perfectly without having to set up his stack each time, bumblefucking around with spacers, chippers and blades every time he wants to cut one. Looks like a time saver to me. You are not a smart man.
