Very well done! I built a horizontal mortising jig/table 40 years ago, and it's still in use! Your jig look strong and very well built, excellent job!!!!!

Love this video. Loved it even more that he didn’t spend an extra 30 minutes talking it to death like most other video’ers do. In fact just let the process explain itself.
    Great video!!!!!

Very good craftsmanship, with some dangerous moves. When someone wants to find something negative, for sure will find. Anyhow, i prepare such jigs with a festool machine. Fast, repeatable and quick to use. Anyhow people builfing their own tools and gauges have my highest respect.

Ive watched so many times. Its a pleasure watching experienced hands. I was puzzled when you glued the HDPE to the Lexan or acrylic. I didn't think it was possible.

3/4/2019 USA NEVER! wear long sleeves or gloves near the turning areas of the saws, routers, shapers, drill presses, etc., even if it is cold in the work area. Too many excellent craftsmen have lost thumbs, fingers; or, have had their hands or arms ripped off. One man was strangled to death by his necktie in an office shredder. All were accidents. You, Young Je are most outstanding and refined in your work. Your intelligence and understanding are great. Your design is by itself above the rest. I admire your methods. Your hands show the refinement of a master craftsman. Please set a good example and help prevent an unnecessary accident to some young man who follows you.

Bravissimo. Idee GENIALI per costruire guide economiche e jig per fresatrice con un tagliere, ma utilissime in 1000 altri progetti (per sega da banco, trapano a colonna ecc). Aspetto altri piccoli progetti di jig per laboratorio.

I hate doing it that way. I had trouble with the router bouncing around and other issues. I ended up getting a cast iron X-Y table took the dials and lead screws off rigged it with sweep handles and built a steel frame for a horizontal router with height and angle adjustment and used a Truton Plunge router for the power head. Now I can work closer than 0.005" easily and repeatably.

I like the idea but it would be nice to know what materials you are using. Sometimes it's hard for old eyes like mine to see well enough to tell what materials you are using in the videos...I don't need small talk, just important details. I know, I know, you wonder why I'm doing these things if I can't see that well....WELL it's like this...It's fun to work with wood and it's up close. It's what I enjoy doing and I'm teaching myself how to adjust to changes in my life. So every little bit of help is appreciated. Always learning new things. I'm about to get my first router, I'm so excited...

I will build one for my shop. I’ve avoided the mortise and tenon construction because I never felt as though I had the skill. I feel comfortable now. Not to be negitive in anyway but why wouldn't you utilize the straight(flat) part of the router base plate against one of the two fixed guide fences? I would think that the base plate is not 100% centered on the router base. As I have found out on my own routers.

  • @rapunzeleh546

there seems to be adjustments for the LENGTH of the mortise and the depth is controlled by the router, but what if you wanted wider mortises for thicker stock.
