Very well done! I built a horizontal mortising jig/table 40 years ago, and it's still in use! Your jig look strong and very well built, excellent job!!!!!
Love this video. Loved it even more that he didn’t spend an extra 30 minutes talking it to death like most other video’ers do. In fact just let the process explain itself. Great video!!!!!
That looks amazing - clever, functional. A true professional at work here. I wouldn't mind betting that there are no plans and it all just came straight out of his head.
Very good craftsmanship, with some dangerous moves. When someone wants to find something negative, for sure will find. Anyhow, i prepare such jigs with a festool machine. Fast, repeatable and quick to use. Anyhow people builfing their own tools and gauges have my highest respect.
Ive watched so many times. Its a pleasure watching experienced hands. I was puzzled when you glued the HDPE to the Lexan or acrylic. I didn't think it was possible.
3/4/2019 USA NEVER! wear long sleeves or gloves near the turning areas of the saws, routers, shapers, drill presses, etc., even if it is cold in the work area. Too many excellent craftsmen have lost thumbs, fingers; or, have had their hands or arms ripped off. One man was strangled to death by his necktie in an office shredder. All were accidents. You, Young Je are most outstanding and refined in your work. Your intelligence and understanding are great. Your design is by itself above the rest. I admire your methods. Your hands show the refinement of a master craftsman. Please set a good example and help prevent an unnecessary accident to some young man who follows you.
I'm relatively very new wood working enthusias. I truly like your Mortizer jig. But I can't make it without the dimension of all the parts . Please share some of your talent idea
Bravissimo. Idee GENIALI per costruire guide economiche e jig per fresatrice con un tagliere, ma utilissime in 1000 altri progetti (per sega da banco, trapano a colonna ecc). Aspetto altri piccoli progetti di jig per laboratorio. Grazie
I hate doing it that way. I had trouble with the router bouncing around and other issues. I ended up getting a cast iron X-Y table took the dials and lead screws off rigged it with sweep handles and built a steel frame for a horizontal router with height and angle adjustment and used a Truton Plunge router for the power head. Now I can work closer than 0.005" easily and repeatably.
Very nice and precise workmanship. Great idea and I like the plexiglass jig. Fortunately I bought my Powermatic hollow mortising machine last year. I too like to do a lot of mortis and tenon work as well as Dovetailing. BRAVO to you Maestro.
I know Im late. but I made one from your inspiration and design. Wow, works great. I'm impressed. Thank you so much for the wonderful design. You are a great craftsman and engineer.
Good Morning. You do EXCELLENT JOBS! How much do the plans cost to manufacture the MORTISING JIG, I am already registered in your channel, but I cannot find the information? Thank you
I'm making one of these (from wood, not acrylic). I'm grateful to Young Je for his clever design and his thorough video build sequence. I'd like to post a photo of my copy of this jig, and I have a jpg scan of the plans with full dimensions. Can I upload a file here?
I would love to see you do a collaboration with Alec Steele. His damascus for a blade and your plane body would be a priceless tool when finished. Right now he is making a blade for Dustin Penner but I cant imagine what your collaboration would look like!
le trait de positionnement ne serait-il pas mieux sous la semelle de plexiglas pour se positionner sans erreur de parallaxe sur les référence bois? (peut etre un problème pour le construire .)
I watched and that is way cool. I'm impressed. BUT, did miss something? Like some of the things I am not sure what you did. Or shall I say, where you did them. Was there something I just happened to miss (which is possible since I'm blind) that lists some of the measurements? Thanks
I've watched this any number of times and at this point have one question. What is the clear product? Is it poly-carbonate, acrylic, plexiglass? Thanks for this and your other videos.
Nice work. If you put the scribed lines on the bottom of the jig, you won't have parallax issues because you're looking through the thickness of the plastic.
Thanks for sharing, sorry for my english it's not my mother tong. It's so clever, intelligent, bright, I am amazed ! I sow in a comment to watch a video or something to finance your work, could you give me the link please ? I will be more than happy to watch some commercial to have more video of you ! THANKS !!!
I like the idea but it would be nice to know what materials you are using. Sometimes it's hard for old eyes like mine to see well enough to tell what materials you are using in the videos...I don't need small talk, just important details. I know, I know, you wonder why I'm doing these things if I can't see that well....WELL it's like this...It's fun to work with wood and it's up close. It's what I enjoy doing and I'm teaching myself how to adjust to changes in my life. So every little bit of help is appreciated. Always learning new things. I'm about to get my first router, I'm so excited...
Thank you so very much. I’ve watched your video several times and each time I’m more impressed. Not only are you a great craftsman but you have a tremendous analytical mind. I will build one for my shop. I’ve avoided the mortise and tenon construction because I never felt as though I had the skill. I feel comfortable now. I’ve looked everywhere for a centering bit like the one you used but can’t find one. Can you tell me where you purchased yours.
Young Je, This jig is fantastic! You, sir, are a genius! I have watched this video several times and I think I am ready to copy your design. What thickness is the plexiglass?
Great looking tool. I build one too just need to make the stops for the midpoint again. Awesome tools. It took me a while to make the drawing and the template for my cnc router. Thanks for sharing.
PARABÉNS meu Amigo, que trabalho, mas compensa, depois é só colocar as peças e fazer os rasgos sem se preocupar!!! Show mesmo. Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
Not to be negitive in anyway but why wouldn't you utilize the straight(flat) part of the router base plate against one of the two fixed guide fences? I would think that the base plate is not 100% centered on the router base. As I have found out on my own routers.
there seems to be adjustments for the LENGTH of the mortise and the depth is controlled by the router, but what if you wanted wider mortises for thicker stock.
I'm making it today thanks so much for all of your videos you might not know this but my friend you yourself are teaching an unbelievable amount of people how to do amazing things we/I really appreciate it you are my synsai thumbs up my friend

Mark Spears .... Bingo !!! 🙄
That looks amazing - clever, functional. A true professional at work here. I wouldn't mind betting that there are no plans and it all just came straight out of his head.
It's been a pleasure to just watch the care and accuracy with which you use your hands. A true sign of craftsmanship. Thank you.
Brilliant. I made my own jig based on your video and I can honestly say it is works really well. Thank you for sharing.
Very good craftsmanship, with some dangerous moves. When someone wants to find something negative, for sure will find. Anyhow, i prepare such jigs with a festool machine. Fast, repeatable and quick to use. Anyhow people builfing their own tools and gauges have my highest respect.
What a great idea. With your jig makes it very simple. Thank you. Enjoyed video very much.
Ive watched so many times. Its a pleasure watching experienced hands. I was puzzled when you glued the HDPE to the Lexan or acrylic. I didn't think it was possible.
Buenos días desde Los Alcazares Murcia ESPAÑA, eres un fenómeno en La carpintería, gracias por tan buen Video,

I can honestly say that I wasn't sure at first but you can't argue with the results. Great idea and good build. 👍👍👍
Excelente idea!!!
Felicitaciones . Desde Montería Córdoba COLOMBIA
Excellent work! Way better than trying to plunge on a router table and much cheaper and maybe better than store bought.
I'm relatively very new wood working enthusias. I truly like your Mortizer jig. But I can't make it without the dimension of all the parts . Please share some of your talent idea

Grazie
Brilliant jig. Bravo, what are the dimensions of it and how wide piece of wood you can put?
Acrylic base 15 x 11 inch, max 4 3/4 inch
Best use of HF coupon pages I've ever seen. Thumbs up.
Marvellous idea. Superb work.
Great idea, you should offer detailed step by step plans.
Nice. Thanks. What size is the plexi?
This is a great design - I built one for myself for a Bosch router. Thanks Mr. Je.
Very good project. Spectacular. I'll make one for myself. It will add good results in my work. I'm from Taubaté, São Paulo, Brazil.
Awesome jig.... I'd happily pay for one... Well done sir
Very complex build but once finished it looks like a very useful and repeatable jig. I need to get one of those center finding pins!
Just use a v groove bit.
I have took D8 old dril bit, made on grinder rotatin with drill. Easy and quick.
Muy bueno, se ve con mucha prolijidad y esactitud. Pregunto si tienen los planos y cómo solicitarlo. Gracias
Super👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Dimencion de la guia ancho por largo

Yours is more solid. His is more portable. Both get the job done nicely.
hi... what type of end mill you had used for cutting the polycarbonate ?
what is the thickness of the plexiglass? what glue is used to adhere hdpe to plexiglass?
your a very clever person and your efforts are highly appreciated. for some reason i find watching just your hands working quite intriguing.
Ух ты! Смотрел не отрываясь! Все детально показано! Здорово!
Very nice and precise workmanship. Great idea and I like the plexiglass jig. Fortunately I bought my Powermatic hollow mortising machine last year. I too like to do a lot of mortis and tenon work as well as Dovetailing. BRAVO to you Maestro.
Beautifull jig, thank you! do you have a jig for maching tenons?
I truly like your Mortizer jig. Can I have the dimension of the parts
I know Im late. but I made one from your inspiration and design. Wow, works great. I'm impressed. Thank you so much for the wonderful design. You are a great craftsman and engineer.
Perfect. Best jig on RUclips. Thanks so much. Большое спасибо,самый,на мой взгляд,лучше приспособление на всем ютубе.!!!!!
Hello,
Awesome this guide! Congratulations!
Do you have dimensions to communicate for the production of this guide?
Thank you.
Good Morning.
You do EXCELLENT JOBS! How much do the plans cost to manufacture the MORTISING JIG, I am already registered in your channel, but I cannot find the information? Thank you
Le top 👋👋👋j'aimerai bien savoir les dimensions et son épaisseur du plexiglass il est vraiment fabuleux ce gabarit 👍👍👍👍👍
Hello... tq for d vid. May i know what is that pointy bit is called? Tq
from the Netherlands, what a perfect tool, class

Creo que no se puede subir.. Qué pena no poder ver tu trabajo. Saludos
Yet another slick design. You come up with some really great tools and jigs. 👍🏻
Thanks again for sharing!

your video and your feedback is very good, if you were from my country I would buy from you, a hug and thanks for the tip, Diego from Brazil.
I'm sorry, I do not sell,
I watched and that is way cool. I'm impressed. BUT, did miss something?
Like some of the things I am not sure what you did. Or shall I say, where you did them.

Acrylic plexiglass
Looks like one very precise mortise jig! Very nice job.
Nice work. If you put the scribed lines on the bottom of the jig, you won't have parallax issues because you're looking through the thickness of the plastic.
Of course, the line should be bottom.
Very good video and idea. Please show me how to make the dowels for the long hole thx
Pleasing to watch this master, other wood workers mostly americans talk a lot, not straight to the point, this guy do all the job not the talking.
Redoutable de simplicité et de précision. Très ingénieux. Merci

Gracias desde México me encantó , me puedes proporcionar medidas.
Nice job with the jig! Very clean product
Nice. I love the demonstration without all the talking.
thank x for sharing this high profile job and project ...if possible to have dimension please or plan ….

Excellent jig. Thank you for sharing.
Another excellent job. With your level of creativity and quality.
Brilliant .This would work on tapered legs too , as long as you have a centerline and the work clamp fits the width of the leg.
Always a pleasure watching your videos.
Thank you so very much. I’ve watched your video several times and each time I’m more impressed. Not only are you a great craftsman but you have a tremendous analytical mind. Not sure if you’re still wondering but I think he made it.
Mr. Je this is an awesome router jig for it makes a really "clear" job on mortising, tnx for sharing it!! 👊🏻👌🏻🛠👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😱🤓
thanks,
Brilliant work as usual! This is one of nicest and probably the easiest to make and use. Thank you!
Young Je, This jig is fantastic! You, sir, are a genius! I have watched this video several times and I think I am ready to copy your design. What thickness is the plexiglass?
I used .220 inch,
.22 inches = 5.6mm
You are quite an artist/craftsmen!
To watch a Video we have to watch also many Commercials.
Is there a youtube w/o commercials ??
Great looking tool. I build one too just need to make the stops for the midpoint again. Awesome tools. It took me a while to make the drawing and the template for my cnc router. Thanks for sharing.
Hi there. Hope you are doing well. Can you please send me the sizes of mortising jig. Please.
Boa noite, parabéns pelo projeto, você tem em PDF para vender, obrigado pela sua atenção,
Only works for mortises the width of the center groove. Seems easier to make individual templates for various jobs and keep on hand.
Awesome idea wow and very neatly done
Very nice work Mr Je
when cutting the slots at ~3:50 why did you start at the mark and then go half bit past mark at other end?
I would love to get plans to make this.
Are there plans available?
Very good idea
Muchas gracias maestro por este video, excelente trabajo.
PARABÉNS meu Amigo, que trabalho, mas compensa, depois é só colocar as peças e fazer os rasgos sem se preocupar!!! Show mesmo.
Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
Perfekt
Hi There, how can i get a copy of the plans for making that jig
Hi Mr young jig,,, please can we have a dimension for above project it will be very usefull as study case for me to work on it please ?
Not to be negitive in anyway but why wouldn't you utilize the straight(flat) part of the router base plate against one of the two fixed guide fences? I would think that the base plate is not 100% centered on the router base. As I have found out on my own routers.
there seems to be adjustments for the LENGTH of the mortise and the depth is controlled by the router, but what if you wanted wider mortises for thicker stock.
I guess he would just make a different jig.
If the router is retrained by the guide rails and the end blocks, then the hole in the middle can be any size.
complicated build processes, but very versatile ,and accurate
Mmm
I love all the hard work that went into the jig but, a bit complicated.
I'm making it today thanks so much for all of your videos you might not know this but my friend you yourself are teaching an unbelievable amount of people how to do amazing things we/I really appreciate it you are my synsai thumbs up my friend
great work. I want to buy this. respect from Russia.
what was the white plastic board he used? what is it called?
How are you getting the length accurately? The mortise you cut in the work was shorter than the one in the jig but I don't see any stopping blocks?
Professional, expert, and genius, all in one.
What particular type of plastic did you use in this video? Very interesting. Great woodworking skills.
This looks like a great jig!! Do you have any plans for this showing the dimensions?
Can I order a copy of the drawing dimensions please
How about a detailed build video. It looks great, but would be nice to have sizes etc.
Great work and very clever do you have the plans on your channel?
higreat job,,,, can we have a dimension please ,,,length width thickness of acrylic board.... ect ,,,it will be very used full .thankx
