WITH THIS DEVICE YOU CAN MAKE PERFECT DADOS AND RABBETS | MY VERSION OF THE KERFMAKER

  • Making Dados and Rabbets is a tricky task on the table saw when you are trying to get a tight fitting joint.
    I had some leftover pieces from my last project. So I decided to make something out of it. I came up with the idea to make my own version of the Kerfmaker. I wanted to make it so simple as possible and the leftover pieces were perfect for that. Once set the Kerfmaker right, it works perfectly every time.

    This KerfMaker is simpler than those commercial and DIY solutions on the internet. And, more importantly, is intuitive to use. Thank you for sharing.

    Hello from Easton Maryland. Wow! I made my kerfmaker and to build together took me day and a half. Your idea is great! So simple and so precise. All your ideas and woodwork is so good. Thank you for share with us.

    Just gotta say, at first I didn’t understand you sled setup and why you were putting your hands through the holes. Then it dawned on me. That’s where you are supposed to put them to be able to hold onto the work piece and know that your fingers are a safe distance from the blade. Great ingenuity!

  • @kanedNunable
    @kanedNunable 4 года назад +6

    the hand holes are genius, and make this sled super safe to use i imagine, well done, i have watched bloody hundreds of sled vids and thats the first one i have seen, also reduces weight i imagine?

      I agree. Those hand-holes are game changers. I will quite happily steal this idea for my sled. Thank you.

    This design is awesome. I am considering making one out of HDPE to avoid any humidity concerns. Also using a screw insert along with a little blue thread lock to keep it stable.

      I think this is the best design for a kerf maker (less complicated as well). I have built and used this design and love it. I like your idea using HDPE. The only issue I had with the one I made is operator error🤣 Not paying attention to what I was doing.

    I really enjoyed your version of the kerf maker. I did make it, but have not had a chance to use it until recently. I want to give you a shout out and kudos for your kerf maker. I was able to get my dado and groove right on the money. With the screw set as an offset for the blade thickness, you can also use it to fine tune the dado or grove. Thank you for the video and inspiration!

    Really nice design. I made one with the usual design and it works fine, but using the t-track will make for a more robust tool and looks nice. Having an offset set screw looks like it will make it easier to understand. With my previous kerfmaker, I often got confused which way to have it oriented for the first cut. But if the "bottom" always starts next to the fence, followed by rotating the bottom downward, that's an easy process to follow.
