  • How to make simple tool holders and tool wall. The holders look great and simply hang on the dowels, or sit on your workbench. They can be moved around the workshop for easy access.

    Thanks for that. I've just laid out four blocks for various kinds of drill bit and I have even cut the French cleats for the backs. Now you're making me think . . . .

    I like how your 'design mind' works, Jack! This gives me some great ideas! First there was the French cleat, now the 'Houweling peg' system! :) My wall space is limited, and I have more bits that I'd like to store in this way, so I may do blocks mounted as are yours, plus on the front and back sides of a hinged door that closes in front of it.

    Glad to see you back! I need to do something similar - I've got somewhere around 8 or 9 sets of various drill bits scattered over the shop.

    The way you keep your fingers closed up is how I keep mine closed up every time I work with powertools. Those three loose fingers always like getting tangled up somewhere when you least expecting :D

    that's a clever setup! I have a hanging thinger-ma-bob for my bits... but no bits in it! It's just not convenient to constantly reach over whatever I'm working on, or wander from the workbench to the garage to get one bit, and take it back... It didn't occur to me to have the whole thing removable! Seems a bit obvious, now.... :)

    I like that system. That worked out well for you! However I work with quite tiny things, down to a 1/16 shank on my bits. Is there something that can be done similar to this on a much smaller scale?

    Nice to see you again, Jack, and with a neat and clever idea. But did I spot that one of the cut outs on the (pre-marked) holder around 4.00 went the wrong way ? Its the sort of thing I do - like putting dominos mortices in the wrong faces.
