The ballpark has nothing to do when a guy keeps hitting ground balls to infielders. It's about being able to square the ball up and hit it hard.

Do either of you understand the physical or mental side of the game?
Stats are stats. There aren't any answers in the stats. In fact and contrary to popular belief, the stats never tell the story.
Whoever said "people lie, numbers don't", was full of shit.
The Mariners, as an organization, have a bad approach at the plate. I'm not sure what it is they're telling players, but it results in what appears to be a lot of guessing and chasing.
I'm not sure if they're giving guys too much analytics, or if they're preaching launch angle nonsense over making solid contact and hitting it where it's pitched...
Maybe they're infatuated with home runs despite playing in a park that is built for contact, speed, and manufacturing runs.
I'll tell you this, if I had on-field access, I wouldn't be asking Luis Urias how far he thinks he could hit a baseball with an aluminum bat... I'd be trying to find out what the Mariners approach to hitting is.
I had hope for this podcast, but you're the same as the other new-age stat geeks who don't understand the game and can easily justify the pitch clock and ghost-runner rules.

You guys realize that no one on this team hits the fastball well, maybe you should mention that. Or maybe mention the fact they just fired the OC. I’m sure it all correlates, a guy just doesn’t forget to hit a fastball. And Seattle isn’t the most difficult park to hit in either. It’s neutral.

According to a lot of players and analysts, Seattle is indeed a hard park to hit in. Do I feel like this is a valid argument? Not really. The Edgar and Griffey era would say different. As well, when did they fire the OC? Weeeellllll after we’ve accumulated enough games to have an idea as to what each player is expected to bring to the plate.

Park factor has it as the hardest place to hit

Make outfield wall slide-able, move in April/May. Move out from June.

He has major holes in his swing. He is a launch angle guy. Any fastball up in the zone he cant handle. So pitchers exploit it

The twitch of a grimace from TJ when Lyle mentions Polo’s current xslug rate… same, man, same. I really enjoy Polanco but it’s been hard to wrap my head around what happened…

Is it harder to pick up fastballs in T-Mobile for some reason? The backdrop? Wondering what the home and away numbers are on things like fastballs.

He came to the mariners. Enough said. Guys dont want to play here. Outside players think this organization is a joke
