They are in a good situation to me. You got both QB's on the cheap and JF1 has to be the best backup QB in the NFL. No sure about Russ not getting hurt though. Some people expect that at some point but you never know. Good luck, either way. I will always have nothing but respect for JF1. He was put in a bad situation from the start.
Justin Fields is a Franchsie Quarterback. If the Steelers can't offer Justin a "Fully-Guraranteed-Team- Friendly-Contract" after this season, then he should MARKET-HIMSELF and wait for another opportunity. Justin should accept only offers where he can go into a Training Camp and Compete to become a Starter. Be patient and wait, don't accept anything less.

I think people need to pump the breaks on fields. Teams needing qbs seen no value in him if he was all that they would of lined up with 1sts and 2nds. Fields has a major problem with turn overs which is unacceptable for any player if this guy was are running back everyone would be demanding him released people whined about dj this guy has double djs drops last year and he is the freaking qb.

I thought Pittsburgh was going to be a serious organization, but they aren't. First, this is an organization the last 3 or 4 years where the starter couldn't play the entire season. But it's a good idea to make your backup QB a gimmick kick returner. Wilson will be 36 this season and statistically the odds are against him health-wise. Also, it's okay to be wise with your money and make sound decisions. But the Steelers are cheap. They do not pay their important skill players. It's okay to offer Wilson or Fields $12 million a year. It's okay to give a top 7 RB in the NFL $7 million. Being cheap has got the Steelers what? They have not won a playoff game since 2016. Finally, I hope Fields requests a trade. If he does kick return or WR for any plays this year his career as an NFL QB is over (look at Craig Carton just disrespecting Fields as a person). Which is probably what Steelers want so they can pay him as a kick returner and not a QB. If Steelers told Tomlin, you aren't winning playoff games but you are a great speaker. We will use you as our PR guy and not coach. Tomlin would tell them to f off. This is what they are doing to Fields. Next years draft class is not great, there are a lot of aging QBs in the NFL. I hope Fields sits the bench and serves this one year sentence as a Steeler. Some team will pay him something next year and actually use him as a QB not a gimmick player.
Listen I said it when it happened. We have recreated the Big Ben - Mason Rudolph scenario. Big Ben aka Russell Wilson - the old guys versus - Mason Rudolph aka Justin Fields - the young guys. We know Russell can still play, but he's not the Russell that took the Seahawks to the Super Bowl. 2021 Ben was NOT the same Ben that took us to the Super Bowl 3-times. Mason was never invested in like Fields was in Chicago so to me Mason is much better and has a higher ceiling than Fields, but the scenario is still the same EXCEPT there is no established fan loyalty...so like the last 2 years, as soon as Wilson or any QB struggles the chants for the next guy are going to cascade onto the field. Russell is the better quarterback while Justin is the better athlete. Nonetheless, every quarterback on our roster is still better than Kenny & Mitch, so I am skeptically waiting to see how the coaching staff screws this unit up.
