I have to say, that this became my favourite series on RUclips. And somehow i like this car more and more. Keep up this great content and good luck.
Honestly same here! What a great way to discover a RUclipsr I didn’t know.
I have to say the same. It’s a dream of mine to be able to undertake a project like this on a Porsche when I have the resources to do so.
Agreed. Loving this one.
Thought I was the only one! Wish he would release a video about this car everyday!
same here!
Keep going mate, you are doing great. The F pipe the diverter valves attach too is prone to split as well. So many of those pressurised pipes are available in aftermarket silicone kits. You might want to just drop the motor and replace every boost and vacuum hose in one go and pin the coolant lines at the same time.
Not ready to drop the engine yet. Maybe when I do the clutch and turbos though!
Hasn't the engine been out all ready?
This channel deserves to blow up, love the content.
Hopefully! lol thanks!
Exactly what I’m hoping for🤙
Fuel pressure drop could be a stuck injector...I experienced similar symptoms and it turned out to be that. Loving the series. 👍🏁
Few people said that, I've gotta see how I can verify that.
Doing a great job dude, it seems never ending but you'll get there in the end!
The way you walk through your thought process, the no BS approach and edits make this so enjoyable to watch. I have no idea how I found your channel but you are doing such an awesome job at this. Can’t wait for the next video in the series!
I usually don't comment on videos but you summed up my thoughts perfectly. Randomly got recommended this video and I have been hooked
Man, you guys are too kind, thanks!!!
Really, really enjoying this series. The production seems to have gone up a lot (not that the older ones were bad or anything). Love the little edits etc. and the music is a nice touch. I really hate when videos have music too loud and you've got it dead on.
Thank you! I really try and take pride in editing to make the videos fast paced and fun. I hate boring videos!
11:05 looks like an N75 valve. Regulates the wastegate pressure. At least that’s what it’s called in VW/Audi world. Keep up the good work bro.
Really enjoying the creativity in your videos ~ good work. Regarding your headlights: the only way to permanently refinish them is to sand with 1,000 grit and apply 3 coats of a GOOD quality 2K clearcoat. I used Spraymax 2k clearcoat. Expensive ( here in Australia anyway) but it is one of the best.
Man, I felt your joy when you found that disconnected plug for the rear lights! This car hit the lottery when you got it as it was headed for part out otherwise. I hope you get it all sorted for as little money as possible and have a beautiful 911 Turbo to enjoy. Great job so far and I love your channel!
Thanks! Lots of work to go and since this video it's even more torn down now lol.
I didn't think I would care for the Porsche videos. They've quickly become some of my favorite content from you. These are very entertaining.
Awesome, thank you!
This series of videos is great. Really loving them, can't wait to see the finished product man!
Love exploring right along with you as you dig into this car. Keep up the good work and the comedic relief is perfectly timed.
Haha, thanks!
Great series man. Keep up the good work. I wish you all the success here!
This is my Favorite "nothing went to plane" video lol.
Any time to can remove the fuel pump assembly without dropping the fuel tank, it's a WIN. That was easily accessible compared to many cars!!
So effing true.
You're not wrong, but my E36 is way easier lol.
Great job Matt, keep it going. Big props for diving right in without having a background in Porsches.
That's the plan!
that fuel pump is in such a great location. it's so nice you don't have to drop the tank or anything lol
Yeah, when he said it was the trickiest one he's done, I thought well at least he didn't have to drop the exhaust, heat shields, rear axle, half the suspension and a brace just to be able to squeeze the tank out...
While true, the fuel setup in my E36 is WAY easier. But yes, this is much better than dropping a tank.
When you sand and polish the headlights, don’t pry up on the headlight washer caps, they will break easily. Use a bicycle pump to push air through the headlights get washer hose underneath and grab the headlight washer. Then remove the caps with a small flathead screwdriver.
Thanks! Otherwise I would have def broken them.
Love this series because it makes me less fearful of buying an old Porch someday
Yay new video.. RUclips to me now is like Saturday mornings , only at night and after a long day of work
So rare for people to tackle off of these projects on their own water cooled Porsche. Awesome stuff man!! Makes me excited to wrench on mine this winter
Start wrenching!
Its nice to see someone actually diagnosing and working on their own vehicle. Thanks m8
That feeling of accomplishment is not to be undervalued. Keep it up, great videos
When you get that one unexpected win! Yaaa to reverse lights working!
What an unexpected fix for the reverse lights!
My thoughts exactly!
@@matt13ross Any evidence the trans had been previously removed?
When it started right up I threw my hands up the same way you did lmao. But what a great win on the reverse light switch
Great to be apart of the progress...Thanks
Buddy I love how you always say "I don't know what I'm looking for." Or " I don't know what I'm doing." lol. My thoughts exactly on most of the shite I do on my vehiclesl. Keep it coming brother.
This keeps getting better and better! Keep it up
Thanks!
Matt, sometimes i dun get to fix anything for days on my cars... you're lucky !!
I'm loving this adventure!
This is going to be a year long series lol. Have the same repeat story with every Audi I’ve ever owned - identify problem, diagnose, order parts, wait for parts, resolve with a different subsystem like 10 times over a year.
YUP!
Stoked on this series I hope your channel grows more from this!
Thanks, I hope so too!
My Mustang had a similar hard start/immediate fuel pressure drop issue. Ended up being one of the corrugated fuel lines in tank had a small hair line split in it that would bleed off pressure occasionally.
Good work Matt. I like watching you work on the Porsche 911 Turbo. Equivalent to a guy repairing a land-based ICBM missile with a few hand tools.
Great video. Interesting to see you attacking all the issues. This car has really grown on me and I’m sure I’m not alone in that thought.
Always happy to see a new one of these
Dont slow down, you are almost there 🙂
Like this content...
Spray the lights with 2k clear after sanding polishing etc. They will look new again. You can do the rears also. Enjoying the videos. Thanks for the content.
That's the plan! Lot of sanding ahead with these lights.
Honestly I’m so glad that you placed links in your video to your other videos where you try and diagnostic the problems with your 9-11. I’ve seen so many other RUclipsrs place links and have never followed up on those. Anyway I hope it is going well with the restaurant restoration of your 9-11 because it’s sad to see a German car being handled that way.
Love your content, keep it up, you the champ.
Bye bye.
Thanks for the kind words!
Good job. Those aftermarket diverter valves seem to need a good cleaning so see if you can take them apart. Check for those other white and black check valves also.
Best series on RUclips. Keep up the content sir. Those broken yolks are just terrible. My cayman headlights were $1900 each to replace. Thankfully it was under warranty.
I've gotta sand the crap outta these!!
quickly becoming my fav build on youtube, thanks for sharing
Too kind, thanks!
My Audi does that fuel pressure drop. Replaced the entire pump and sending unit and it will still drop back to zero after 5+ hours. I was upgrading the pump anyway. I just took a break with it for now because the car runs so good. Always fires up immediately. I’m running 5 bar of pressure with an adjustable fpr and a under hood inline guAge. I have a wideband afr guAge. Runs spot on 11.2:1 at wot. Just right for a turbo upgraded 20v 1.8 with 440cc injectors.
I'm so keen for these Porsche videos. Keep them coming!
Great work Matt! You keep amazing me with your skills and can do attitude. I can only imagine what a shop would charge you.
Probably like $30K to fix this thing up lol.
Loving this series!
Really loving this car and this build series, I hope you plan to stick with this car long term. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing something go from a hot mess to a real monster knowing that you did the work every step of the way
I follow you from Iraq, you are doing a great job. I salute you
Great work 👏 keep going!
Shout out from 🇬🇧
Good work! Excited to see what’s next
Yes! Been waiting on an update on the 996! Love the videos man!
Should definitely pull out the engine and give it a deep clean. It’ll also allow you to see the whole engine to give it a all around inspection! It’ll save you you time be seeing what parts are no good and get them order all at once
Can’t wait to see more videos and you finishing the build!
Eventually, but I'd like to get it running / driving correctly and enjoy it some.
Keep up with the Porsche videos! Super interesting!
More to come!
Someone else's neglect is always harder for finding a fault and always leaves you with a 'why did they do that?' thought.
Well done for slowly and surely getting the car to a standard it deserves.
I'm looking forward to seeing it done.
One thing you should stock up of is elbow grease.
Yea it's gonna take a lot of that grease lol.
This is my favorite series, it's really amazing seeing you fix up a car in such poor condition. Inspires me to get a project car someday lol. Good stuff bro!
Great videos and graphics brother!
Watch out with getting rid of the spare wheel, it was designed to play a role in absorbing an impact in case of crash.
Plus it adds a bit of weight to the front which is never a bad thing on a 911 😁
A few people mentioned that, I addressed it in another video haha.
Love watching the progress on this and the E36 (Easily some of my favorite RUclips builds) Soooo Stoked for your Vids🤘😎🤙
Thanks for the support!
Those shifter cables! Don’t order the oem clips it will be a big waste of time! You can unbolt the bracket , drill wholes and make a C style bracket to hold the shifter cables in place. You will thank me later when those zip ties pop off. … good video keep up the good work 👍🏾
How German of them to shame you as much as possible for driving around on the donut.
Another great episode with expert narration. 👍on the content. 🇨🇦
You need a smoke machine to best diagnose leaks and vacuum system.
Very nice work.
It's on my to get list!
Great fun watching the Porsche vids. Keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
Can’t wait to suggest new paint colors
Staying yellow!
Absolutely Fucking Love the 996 videos
Awesome I'm glad!
For the smell in the carpets just spread baking soda on the carpet overnight and then vacuum it up. Does the same trick with stinky sneakers.
I love your videos on this. You poor bastard. You always push through with a smile tho
Gotta see the good through the bad!
Interesting! Ditch those horrible hose clamps and use correct clamps that don't cut into the hoses.
Love your Porsche content Matt!
Keep at it brother, I love your car and your content, I only wish I was as mechanically inclined as you man. I have to pay for all my 996 headaches! Awesome job, can't wait to see where you go next with this car.
May I make a suggestion? Create yourself an outro. Something that you play when the video is over, it gives me a chance to pause the video to reply to you before it skips to the next video. It will boost your engagement and it will boost a number of comments you get.
Now as far as the car goes... I love this project but having done a similar project I don't think you know how much money you're about to spend. Lol. Good luck I look forward to seeing the adventure as it unfolds.
The problem with an outro is most people click out of the video when seeing that, which hurts the engagement. I do get what you're saying though. Thank you!
Ayyyye glad to see it coming along 💪
You hit a few snags but keep up the good work! Can’t wait for the next one🙂
Loving this build series
Like the video, good to see someone working on something a bit special and learning as they go.. reminds me I need to fiddle with my 997 😳
I want a 997!!
I'm just gonna make a list of all the nonsense you've had to deal with Incase whatever 996 I end up buying is equally a pain in the ass, lol
Solid idea lol
There are so many Porsche fan boys on RUclips. I want them all to react to this video. I suddenly do not want to try to find an older 996.
They are awesome cars when properly maintained. Clearly, this one was seriously abused and never should have been owned by whomever had it before.
you need that spare, 1: the car crash test was done with that thing right there, without it, the outcome varies. 2: it' mean for emergency only, I had a 2017 MX-5, and oh boy I wished I had the space for a tiny donut just to get home and patch, not waiting for 2 h for a flatbed or butchering a perfectly good tire that might just need a plug or a patch. it won't hurt your set to roll around limping with it for some miles, let alone midnight or middle of nowhere to be found or no cellphone reception.
I love these cars. Great contents my friend, keep it going. I also have 996 turbo X50 conv, great car. Very easy cars to work on. 🙂✌
Great job and patience, keep going on it we are with you :)
Great vids bro!!
ok you've earned it! im subscribing!!!! good job on the repairs so far!
Right on time
First off, I really like your channel and enthusiasm, it’s authentic. Next, send that yellow turd back to Porsche and have them restore it to perfection, document the entire process, and pay for it with channel monetization. I had a 2003 Turbo X50 and I know personally how rough these cars are treated, there are most likely a lot of problems that you don’t even see, Porsche will see them.
I certainly can't afford to have Porsche fix this lol.
@@matt13ross It looks rough, but that’s what makes your channel so interesting. Good luck with Ole yeller and keep those videos coming.
I love the Porsche series!
Such a good honest video plenty of carnage… two steps forward one back #life
Enjoying your videos keep it up🔥🤝 inspirational 🙏🏽
Please make 1,000 of these videos on this car. Thanks in advance.
We’re just gonna slide past the wireless headlights 🤣🤔
With the spare tire I believe that it is part of your front collision support I could be wrong though.
You're probably right, I may put it back.
Was patiently waiting for this vid 😃
Hope you enjoyed it!
On the Porsche Litronic headlights, the high and low beam function uses the same HID bulb. The halogen bulb underneath the projector lens is strictly there for the flash to pass function, so not a lot of reason to upgrade it. Not to mention LED bulbs generally do not fit into these headlight housings due to the tight confines of everything. I wanted to upgrade the fog light bulbs in mine with yellow LED ones and they simply do not fit. I ended up using upgraded yellow PIAA halogen ones which worked fine. I sent you an email a few weeks ago giving you some suggestions, but have no idea if you ever saw it or not.
You sure? When I activate the high beams, they are of halogen color, not the same color as the HID low beam.
@@matt13ross If you check your owners manual, you'll see that Porsche lists the same D2S HID bulb for the low and high beam. The secondary high beam (flash to pass) bulb is an H11 and it's the halogen one underneath the main lens. You could still update it with an LED if you wanted to and if you can find one that fits in the housing, which is rather difficult. Once I discovered that the same bulb does both, I decided it wasn't worth it and left the stock halogen bulb in place.
@@chevyguy879 I think it is year dependent. When I've researched it for my 2003, there were varying opinions on the function of the low/high beam on everyone's cars (checking the Rennlist and Pelican Parts forums)
Yay the world of Porsche . Keep at it bro love the videos
Thanks! Will do!
my reverse light is gone in my 1999 986.. defo gonna have to change my bulb and if not, i bet it’s the same thing you had wrong
Fuel pressure regulator,,,,seriouse the diafram in it has let go so it will bleed off and take for ever to start pretty common issue in other cars over the years working on efi cars
FYI, You need to inflate the spare tire before you can use it!
I know that lol.
The ribbed plastic feed tubes might be your issue. My ford escort had the same problem and there were little holes in mine from rubbing over time.
Hey @mattross not sure if you have a older quick jacks but the locking bars should be on the outside of car. Actually just got a set other day just throwing it out there maybe check your manual for it.
Good catch, I forgot about that!
@@matt13ross just to be safe i know that thing is pretty light but just incase
