Great to see Josh's master work on your channel. The exhaust and fab work he's done on ScrapLife Garage's projects is top notch. Congrats on all the work you've done and finally sorting this 996 beauty out!
Exhaust sounds and looks great! I’m so tired of everyone on RUclips straight-piping their cars and being obnoxiously loud. You’ve now got a properly sorted 911.
Congrats on everything you’ve done. Think about one more interior enhancement: Yellow seat belts. Have them in my Speed Yellow ‘04 C4S Cab. Again, way to go!
Car is really coming together now, Matt. Just need to do something about that wheel color. Matching the brushed natural finish of your exhaust tips would be 👌🏼
Hay man, I have the quick jack 5000 for my 997.2, I found it laboring a little when using it with the rams facing forward (as the instructions said) when they are flipped around at the rams facing the rear it works way better
Killed it again Matt! Great job man. You're gonna cost me a lot of money showing some of these mods, and I'm gonna have to step up my video game too, you put a lot into these episodes. Keep them coming man, we love them.
Love the exhaust, I am a fan of a throaty rumble like a subtle note of what is going on underneath. But I hate loud droning. I think you dialed it in quite nicely and really enjoyed seeing the fabrication as well!
You probably won't see this or anything in the flurry of comments but man ton of respect for u man a ton I commented before on u saying previous owner and u literally did it definitely subscribing cuz most RUclipsrs don't care about their audience. Mad respect sir
Looks and sounds great, just my OCD can’t allow me not to tell you that the exhaust tips are misaligned, one is looking up more than the other (or down if that’s the case haha)
sounds great and a big plus for lower cabin noise. i have the fabspeed on my c4s and i don't think it is too annoyingly loud with top down. i look forward to what else you will be doing to this 996. Long live 996 :D
Great job Matt, with a friend I get to work on a number of Porsches, Cayman, Boxster, 997 C4S, 996 Turbo, Macan and Cayenne so appreciate all the hard work that goes into doing it yourself. Great videos, also I’ve owned a few F-Body cars with L98, LT1 and LS1 V8’s so appreciate the LS swapped E36 BMW, great channel keep up the good work.
Bravo for sharing the progress, as a 992 TurboS owner I am frankly amazed by what you have done and I really like noticing the cleaning of the work bench!
Love the sound and look of the new exhaust! Great seeing the car coming together finally. Seems like the left tip needs to tilt down but I'm sure you noticed already. Keep it up :)
Sounds incredible to my old man ears as well(!) absolutely perfect. The quality of work on the exhaust is outstanding. Great work and vids Matt always look forward to them.
That exhaust is insanely nice. I’m curious about your comment about Ti exhaust cooling faster though. Titanium has lower thermal conductivity than stainless, so assuming both have heat soaked a decent amount, it will take ti longer to cool down. Unless that ti exhaust was quite a bit thinner wall than the old exhaust.
Hey man, I've been watching you since the beginning and I can only try to imagine how happy you must be. Very inspirational and nice to see your passion for German cars. Greetings from Munich!
those are pretty much J pipes and they kill mostly drone. Did a make shift J pipe on my older E55 that killed the drone by half. J pipes make a big difference
That exhaust really is the dogs bollocks! Great to see a craftsman at work making it with such care & attention to detail. I`m pleased you have your 996 sorted & that you can get out there & have some fun!! Btw, I`m in a similar situation as my 996 C4S is having a bespoke stainless system done as it failed its MOT on emissions recently, but I`ve had to wait 5 weeks just for them to get started because all the Porsche specialists here in the UK are extremely busy. Look forward to your next vid.
Also def rec Marski's hp package. A friend and I went to Protomotive for our cars. Marski and Protomotive are the best tuners if I'm remembering correctly for porsche~
Piston Ring Holder Tool there are some parts that you can add to the engine to make it safer ~ Also they have a tune you can switch between Pump+meth and E85 fuel~
Josh can definitely fab some shieettt 🤘🏻💥 and positioner ftw, for sure best sounding exhaust you’ve had on there 👌🏻 ( that glass cleaner company needs to sponsor the channel, you use it for everything 😂 )
Are big bore turbo inlet pipes available for the 996? Those could help with flow of air into the turbos and eventually make more power once you tune it
Hey Matt! Just ordered my new exhaust from Josh! He's working on it now...can't wait. Can you post a link as to where you purchased your 02 sensor extenders? Thanks! AC
Congratulations on your progress! It must feel amazing to have come this far. It was cool to see you take it to a local event. You should take both cars to a track day now!
The whole point of the Turbo has always been a more stealthy approach rather than the GT3 models. The sound now matches perfectly! Brilliant. Ps: silver wheels! 😁
Def rec going their in person too, if getting work done~ heard its the best thing to do def, was going to for my car when I was going to do the 1k hp upgrade~
Hey Matt - a fan of your 911 videos. Have a 997.1 TT myself. Glad to see you appreciate the 996. Question - did you checked out the Europipe exhaust? As per several posts in Rennlist this one seem to be the beast all around. I would be curious to know your opinion of it. I am shopping for an exhaust myself.
I was only half watching this on the TV and then right near the end of his build I realized... It's not just those simple resonators. He has a real j-pipe on there too. If he did it right, which I think he did, You shouldn't have any drone from that but it should sound amazing When you get on it. (Maybe you cover this later I'm still watching you unbolt your old exhaust)
Been following your Porsche build because I was tempted to get one myself. Chickened out and grabbed a dirt cheap MR2 Spyder instead (prob for what you paid for that titanium exhaust ha). That and there is no where fun to drive a fast car in Gaithersburg. My uncle runs a German auto garage in Richmond, so I've seen him deal with your issues firsthand and that's in a full shop with lifts and all the tools you can grab. So great job tackling this head on yourself and not kicking a couple dents in the door. Can't wait to see what else you're working on next and good luck!
im from baltimore. where are you at in MD. my brother and i went to a porsche event that ended at towson porsche. we had a guards 993 turbo. do you get down to baltmor at all?

I would love that exhaust on my 996
Cost?
Great to see Josh's master work on your channel. The exhaust and fab work he's done on ScrapLife Garage's projects is top notch. Congrats on all the work you've done and finally sorting this 996 beauty out!
I love their videos! Can't believe the V10 swap lol.
Exhaust sounds and looks great! I’m so tired of everyone on RUclips straight-piping their cars and being obnoxiously loud. You’ve now got a properly sorted 911.
It was too loud for a nice DD. Now it's back to being just right. Louder than the Fabspeed exhaust, but with less drone.
Love my straight pipe didn't notice any drone in mine ~ Also a lot more responsive too~
SPL decibels are a logarithmic function so a 10dB reduction is perceived to be half as loud. Going from 92 to 78dB is a HUGE reduction.
Yup!!
Sounds great! Much cleaner sound, without the rasp. High quality welds on that pipe! And no drone!
New exhaust sounds wayyyyyy better! Love the tips too
The sound is so much better....nice tip(s)!!!!
Congrats on everything you’ve done. Think about one more interior enhancement: Yellow seat belts. Have them in my Speed Yellow ‘04 C4S Cab. Again, way to go!
I do want those!
Great video.. can’t help but think silver turbo wheels would work so much better with the yellow 👌🏼
Was thinking the same thing.
Stay tuned
Car is really coming together now, Matt. Just need to do something about that wheel color. Matching the brushed natural finish of your exhaust tips would be 👌🏼
Agree. Not a fan of black. Gun metal grey at the very darkest. Brushed metal would be much nicer.
@@joekavalauskas8767 agree x 3 with wheels needing a different color. Maybe something with a deep silver dish.
Stay tuned guys
Hay man, I have the quick jack 5000 for my 997.2, I found it laboring a little when using it with the rams facing forward (as the instructions said) when they are flipped around at the rams facing the rear it works way better
Killed it again Matt! Great job man. You're gonna cost me a lot of money showing some of these mods, and I'm gonna have to step up my video game too, you put a lot into these episodes. Keep them coming man, we love them.
Thanks! Lots of time is required to make decent videos, which isn't always fun lol.
Love the exhaust, I am a fan of a throaty rumble like a subtle note of what is going on underneath. But I hate loud droning. I think you dialed it in quite nicely and really enjoyed seeing the fabrication as well!
To me, it's perfect now!
You probably won't see this or anything in the flurry of comments but man ton of respect for u man a ton I commented before on u saying previous owner and u literally did it definitely subscribing cuz most RUclipsrs don't care about their audience. Mad respect sir
Thanks for the support and sub!
Love the use of chair jack! I use mine for bumper removal.
It worked so well lol
Looks and sounds great, just my OCD can’t allow me not to tell you that the exhaust tips are misaligned, one is looking up more than the other (or down if that’s the case haha)
Very smooth. Factory smooth but just the right amount of volume.
Exactly!
Great sounding exhaust! I'm not a Porsche fan, but it's been fun to watch your episodes about building the 996!
Thank you!!
Wow, that's some beautiful exhaust work. But I stand by my previous statement--valved exhausts are a *must* for Porsches (or any sports car).
I like valved systems, but it really isn't needed with this one, sound just right!
I have a valved sport exhaust on my CaymanS but my 996tt is obnoxious and I love it.
sounds great and a big plus for lower cabin noise. i have the fabspeed on my c4s and i don't think it is too annoyingly loud with top down. i look forward to what else you will be doing to this 996. Long live 996 :D
Love the new exhaust Matt, it really fills out the cut outs nicely!
I LOVE the tips!
Another great vid. Love the 911 transformation
The left exhaust tip is angled up a tad more than the right. Sorry but my OCD saw it 🙂
That’s a nice exhaust system. Those welds are incredible.
Great job Matt, with a friend I get to work on a number of Porsches, Cayman, Boxster, 997 C4S, 996 Turbo, Macan and Cayenne so appreciate all the hard work that goes into doing it yourself. Thank you!
Hey Matt, the P0446 code is usually related to a clogged charcoal cannister/EVAP cannister. I would start there.
I'm sure that thing is buried somewhere too lol.
@@matt13ross probably. The engineers want you to have HOURS of fun, not minutes of fun. Lol
Agreed lol
Jchutch does good work! I liked the sound and look of the titanium exhaust, but this sounds just as good, looks good, and is actually livable!
Bravo for sharing the progress, as a 992 TurboS owner I am frankly amazed by what you have done and I really like noticing the cleaning of the work bench!
The fabrication skills on that exhaust are unbelievable. That was super interesting to watch.
We agree!
Love the sound and look of the new exhaust! Great seeing the car coming together finally. Seems like the left tip needs to tilt down but I'm sure you noticed already. Keep it up :)

The titanium was thinner, maybe that's why?
That exhaust is epic Matt. Looks incredible. The tips are perfect. Sounds amazing. Only shame is you cant see the beautiful pipework. Result!
Shredding tire behind the behavior health sign was a hilarious and nice touch!
Haha!
Your quick jacks have definitely payed for themselves on this build alone.
Agreed
Yep everyone has to try the straight pipe thing to figure out the resonance is terrible.
Hey man, I've been watching you since the beginning and I can only try to imagine how happy you must be. Very inspirational and nice to see your passion for German cars. Greetings from Munich!
Loving it now!

Josh made the exhaust on my 996 turbo as well. Crazy good worksmanship.
Sure is!
Josh’s work is some beautiful art!
There is no way that boy’s ever had metal in his eyes though. Fearless!
Haha, tough guy!
I've definitely had metal drilled out of my eye before, but these clips were just polishing with a cotton or nylon wheel lol. I always wear PPE.
Love the sound with the downshifts. Nice job, All the hard work paid off.
Thanks 👍
I'm about to buy a Porsche just to get that exhaust.
Yes!
Sweeet! Been following this series since day 1 and I'm glad it all worked out, cheers from Guam!
Great to hear!
Unbelievable skills making that exhaust. Kudos
Wish I made it!
awesome new exhaust, would love a set of those pipes for my 996C4s

"That's a Problem for another day". I can literally feel your pain my man😅.
Either way another great video, can't wait for the next one.
That new exhaust looks great & sounds AMAZING!
The tips are a vast improvement over the stock tips too .....result! 👍🔥👍
Agreed!
In my opinion it sounds much better. More subtle but still sounds sporty. The other had a "raw exhaust removed" noisy sound.
Also def rec Marski's hp package. A friend and I went to Protomotive for our cars. Marski and Protomotive are the best tuners if I'm remembering correctly for porsche~
Much better system for sure. You have to lower the front end bit. The stance is to jacked up in the front.
Stay tuned
This new exhaust sounds perfect! Yeah the old exhaust was too loud. I'm starting to like this car a lot! ❤
Daaamn now it sounds how it should from factory!,,,🎉
Sounds so much better. It's a lot like the one on my 997 which I think sounds great at revs but doesn't drone either
Love the new exhaust looks good sounds good. Only eyesore remaining is that blacked out 3rd brake light? If you fix that imho car is 100% sorted.
That's one the list!
Exhaust sounds 100% better 👍
Beautiful craftsmanship on that exhaust!
looks proper now. well done. congratulations.
Nice it will quiet down a bit more once it burns in. Those welds are stellar! Excellent work!
Thanks, wish they were my welds! lol
Piston Ring Holder Tool there are some parts that you can add to the engine to make it safer ~ Also they have a tune you can switch between Pump+meth and E85 fuel~
protomotive does~
The exhaust is perfection. So much better than the one that came with the car and the x pipe.
awesome sound from the new exhaust , Matt. well done and congrats on your outstanding achievement with this car 🎉
Thanks! 👍
Wow, those surprise mods on your Porsche 911 996 Turbo are next-level! 🔥🏎
Josh knocked it's out of the park. Your 911 sounds like a proper ripper now
Well done man, car is looking and sounding great. Hope to spot you out around the DMV sometime 👍
Hey Matt,
The car looks & sounds amazing! Well done.
Nice build! new exhaust was perfect
Sounds pretty awesome now 🔥🔥
Loved this series been watching since day one came a long way looking good 👊🏻
Thanks for watching it all!
Josh can definitely fab some shieettt 🤘🏻💥 and positioner ftw, for sure best sounding exhaust you’ve had on there 👌🏻 ( that glass cleaner company needs to sponsor the channel, you use it for everything 😂 )
I would love that sponsor! lol
Nice video, and that exhaust sounds sweet and is a work of art ❤
Love the channel and the build! Can't wait to see this beauty sitting on coilovers...excellent work, Thanks for the content!
You and me both!
Sounds so good. Awesome to see this thing coming together. Now I need to go back out to the garage lol.
Always love the Porsche content t!
Awsome job. Glad you pushed through the tough stuff and finished this project. Ok I watched it all can you do the E30 now… ha
Ahh E30 is coming!
Are big bore turbo inlet pipes available for the 996? Those could help with flow of air into the turbos and eventually make more power once you tune it
I'm not sure about that. I'll probably just go with slightly bigger turbos.
Damn that exhaust sounds really good!! The car looks sick my boy.
Hey Matt! Just ordered my new exhaust from Josh! He's working on it now...can't wait. Can you post a link as to where you purchased your 02 sensor extenders? Thanks! AC
Oddly enough, I did a Google search and got them through Walmart online lol. I didn't save the link though.
Congratulations on your progress! It must feel amazing to have come this far. It was cool to see you take it to a local event. You should take both cars to a track day now!
Beautiful! Super lucky to have it
The whole point of the Turbo has always been a more stealthy approach rather than the GT3 models. The sound now matches perfectly! Brilliant. Ps: silver wheels! 😁

The custom one I got from JC hutch is amazing so I haven’t looked at any others.

Check engine light P0446- 5 different parts. gas cap, purge vent valve, purge solenoid, charcoal canister or fuel tank pressure sensor
Yikes, but which one??
holy exhaust work!
I love this car, nice work Matt!!!
It sounds excellent 👌

That new exhaust sounds mint even better than the last one
Agreed
I found your channel at the start of this build series and it’s pretty crazy to see how far it’s come. Great work :)
Thanks for watching it all!
I missed the deets on that cup holder. Wonder if I can get one for a 991…
He doesn't make one for those (at least not that I know of).
im from baltimore. where are you at in MD. my brother and i went to a porsche event that ended at towson porsche. we had a guards 993 turbo. do you get down to baltmor at all?
This was in PA actually.
You killed it! Took this car to another life!
Still sounds good and looks great.
Looks and sounds amazing!
Great work, Matt. Hard work pays off!
Hey Mat, another cracking Vid sweet exhaust well done
Love the exhaust Matt. How much did it run you?
It's cheaper than the big name brands, but better quality.
Ho ho,it’s so clean exhaust!❤
It is!
@@matt13ross it’s so good
Much quieter but have the sound u like when u speed up,hope u a nice day❤️
that does sound loads better
