Someone get this man a window cleaner sponsorship 😂
I know I'm almost out!!
For all the grief about 911 plugs and coils (much easier on the Cayman), modern Porsches are very well made and pretty easy to work on. Case in point--that's about the easiest fuel pump/line swap you're ever going to see.
A supercar owner who actually works on their own vehicles, finally. They are few and far between. That car is awesome
I enjoy it too!
Guy that induced his own failure by installing aftermarket junk pump. lol
The smile while driving says it all! Can't believe it took you this long to get the tune sorted. Nice work
Markski is the best hands down
Nice to see the 996 get some luv in the form of more boost!
The 996 Turbo and GT2 car continued to used the bullet proof Mezger engine with water cooled heads (as used in their GT Race cars). These take very well to modding. I had the GT 2 which started at 450hp. With only bolt ons, I was able to get to 650jp. Europipe exhaust with 100 cell cats. Headers, bigger intercoolers, bored out throttle body, and a selectable octane tune. Other mods were Bilstein coil overs. The thing screamed. RWD only it was a handful.
Had this issue with my 996TT. Replaced fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and some of the check valves and it resolved everything.
Another plug for Markski Tuning. The turbo whisperer! Happy with his tunes and hardware.
Markski is the best choice! Great decision.
Markski for the WIN! He’s the best tuner for this platform, hands down. Crazy a new hose just busted like that.
I'm loving the tune! Now time for the 997!
Double check the pressure rating of the fuel pipe. Looks like it's blown out the way it's split. It could be that it's split from the high peak pressure
So happy for you, the effort you put into this is paying off!
Getting close to the end Matt, It’s looking fantastic, a real credit to you, cant wait for the next video.
Thanks 👍
Nice work on diagnosing the fuel issue!
Thanks!
It looks and sounds amazing 🔥🔥
Just amazing! I love your 996, she a beauty. Like the C8R screen saver!
Glad you like it!
Just wanted to give my input. Those fuel lines never last more then couple months, u should get the accordion plastic hoses, like the OEM has in tank, had the same problem in my 335i until a switched fuel lines
I may switch them out. Thanks!
the GATES 4219 would be a hose with the right rubber mixture, normal fuel lines dissolve quickly in the tank.
FINALLY MATT.BOSTE SOME BARS PORSCHA STYLE
The garage looks great man!
Thanks!
Love the 996 build. Did the tuner aend along a list of all the changes from stock? Glad youre likijg it so much.
I don't have a list but I'd assume boost timing fuel and throttle response
@mattross - have a markski tune as we'll which I was fortunate to have Mark do in his driveway since i'm local to Chicago! Am all stock on my 04 996TT 6sp and its pushing 1.2 bar in the Fall & Winter tune options and around 1.0-1.1 in the summer tune file. the pulls in 3,4,5 are amazing.... what boost level you seeing 1.2 or more? tune has been FLAWLESS zero CELs.... Markski is hands down the best tune and even more incredible service
I didn't want anything crazy. .9 ish
@@matt13ross am sure he gave you multiple tune files? my car is 100% stock and Mark said the 1.2bar was safe and the best bang for the buck on a stock car.... you should have him add that to your tune file options as once you hit that 1.2 bar you'll never want to go back to .9
Just one tune. I have a stock clutch and don't want to push it lol
@@matt13ross I was on my stock clutch with 24k miles when I got my Markski tune and that added power was enough to cause my clutch to slip in 5th on the tune. Mark said a health stock clutch should be fine to handle his standard tune, but I ended up getting a Sachs 2.5 clutch upgrade and thats been very solid with handling the added power from the tune. The 2.5 clutch has some drawbacks as its very grabby and engages higher with the pedal than the stock clutch which I'm still not used to.... thats a separate story! glad your enjoying your 996 it looks & sounds amazing man
Yea man, Mark is the best💯 I’m lucky I’m local, as well😃
Cannot unsee that E30 hood 😍
Should I start that project???
I also want to know what boost are you getting now? My 996tt with marski tune and speedtech xpipe is only seeing 0.7 bar at the moment. No boost leaks. Holds 20 psi no problem.
0.7 bar is stock boost, have same on mine
.9 ish
Make sure the fuel hose is also High Pressure
So---the factory max boost of 0.7/0.8 bar for a 996TT went to what with your new tune? What MAXIMUM boost number are you seeing? Thanks.
.9 ish nothing crazy
how much boost does it make now? 0.9-1 bar? maffles but you left maf in?
.9 ish
@matt13ross mine is the same with vivid tune
Crazy how touchy the throttle is
Finishing exhaust installation better sound good
Im wondering if when you put the top hat on the fuel tank and push it down does it slightly kink the hose leading to the pump and that is why it split? Could the hose be a bit too long?
I think possibly. I shortened this one later.
I have actually managed to do plugs and coil packs on mine without taking the rear bumper off, did 'nt take long at all. I am in the Uk, but have spoken with marksi, a lovely lovely extremely helpful man.
On a turbo???
@@matt13ross Yep, on my drive, hardest one was the middle on the right rear, I did the number one and six via the rear inner arch liner and wobbly joints on my extension. The others I managed by getting my arm in from underneath.Trickiest part was getting coil packs off. But I did not find it that hard. Took less time than removing rear bumper and intercoolers.
Thats wild. The bumper isn't bad to remove lol.
@@matt13ross my Bumper almost jumps of the car on its own now
@@matt13ross I know, it was before I had ever removed it. The bumper is now on and off like a yo-yo. I have just put a reversing camera on, there is a new task for you!
It could be that those hoses are too long and kinked at the Y fitting causing the line to rupture prematurely
Yup! I shortened it
yep, good vid
The car sounds awesome
It does! Better than the 997
The proper way to test the fuel pressure is to use the duramatic tool to turn on the fuel relay then test it with the motor running.
You could also have a vacuum line off the fpr
No vac leaks!
What wheels are those Matt? Very cool!
Supreme power
All rear engine Porsches got long crank as plus wire is so long from battery and it oxidises inside over time 🎉🎉🎉
Great content great results..
Let’s hope your neighbours don’t say to the local police 👮 “ oh it’s the one with the yellow car up & down up & down…
👍👍🙏
I take it easy around me lol
You forgot to take the wheels and tires off before you done the fuel pump
What? Lol
Is marski a polish company in the USA? Sounds polish
I do believe he is Polish. He’s actually a pretty well known DJ in Chicago too.
I'm not certain lol
Is the e30 hood at 4:14 an Easter egg or have you always had a random e30 hood in your garage lol
I've got an E30 outside under a cover lol
nice
The fuel hose is cheap and will not stand ethanol fuels… gets some proper ethanol rated fuel line otherwise it will split in a short time…. Replace any other non-genuine fuel hose otherwise you might have a fire. 🔥
Nice work! Those 996 turbos can get a lot of power with tunes, makes them a lot more fun!
You should test the gauge on other working cars and see what the psi should be, that way you can see how accurate the tool is 😊
I wanted to but have no cars with a fuel Schrader valve lol
@@matt13ross 😂🤣
I would removed spark plug on cylinder 2 and put a borescope it could be scorched inside of it. Probably too much redline on the motor.
I scoped that last video.
You got the wrong fuel hose again, its going to burst. You need to get the corrugated PTFE hoses, they're much stiffer plastic and e85 resistant. You'll be fishing those burst lines out again in another 12 months.
This stuff is made for in tank lol
Are you ready to sell it to me Matt. 😂
Almost lol
Now hit up Freddy Lewis about upgrading the turbos.
That's what the 997 is for lol
Seems like a lot of garage sodas were sacrificed in this video.
Sure were lol
What’s your buddy doing with his NB Miata?
Selling it!
my 996tt had incredibly cold AC
Same!
Might be worth getting it onto a Dyno with a tuner.
Markski is as good as it gets for these cars
Tricky with the awd
Matt, you make me want to buy a clunker and make it a gem one day. Thanks for the content.
Do itttttt!!
@@matt13ross One day buddy!
Power adders, can never go wrong when you add power!
That's right!
Just remember, whenever you crank up HP, you crank down reliability.
These cars maintain reliability with these mods
@cheapcargarage Not true with a Mezger. They can easily handle a lot more boost and mods. Mezgers are 11-time, GT1 derived, race winning engines from LeMans.
Nothing crazy here. Still stock turbos and such.
Waoww!
🪛🪛🪛🪛🪛👍🏻
Nice chassis the 996, but that interior is a bit like a face only a Mum could love
You're not wrong lol. Still love the car though!
For a car designed in the mid 1990's I think it's pretty good, it's also very durable compared to most of the crap built back then.
@@matt13ross Matt do a center console delete "upgrade". I´ve seen it done on 996´s and it looks awesome. You need a replacement insert, that ties the remaining center console to the floor. Look for RENNLINE GT3 CENTRE CONSOLE DELETE PANEL
I have one and actually prefer it over the other 911s, especially the driver side. Has more of a wrap around cockpit feel.
Interiors took a big leap in 2008/2009, and another refresh in 2014.
