Matt, You definitely have to recover the dash in leather. Absolute must for a vintage e30 M3. Have them do French seams on all the breakovers and it will look so upscale and premium. Maybe even do a contrast red stich for the French seams
Love the videos. I would get that moisture out of the cylinders ASAP. Any water left in there will pit the walls. Same thing can happen to the S52 by letting it sit uncovered. Can’t wait to hear it run 🙂
back to life is one thing, but how long do those motors stay together? I've definitely run worse in track cars, but the lifetime of those motors was measured in dozens of hours.
Hey dude, shout out from the UK. Recently found your channel and I love it. Cool car and videos. Appreciate what you're achieving with somewhat limited space and resources. Car is a beaut. Been catching up with all your content past weeks and now upto date. I'm not a mechanic so can't offer you any pointers but your channel has encouraged me to do some work on my car rather than use a garage. Respect 🇬🇧🇺🇸
As strange as this might sound, it's good to hear you make your grunt sound as you get tight bolts loose... You are the only person that does it, you also swear/beep like a normal person and I like that as so many people on youtube are don't act or show they are real people... Keep it up and keep it real... Thank you.
Get a wirewheel to clean up parts , it's quicker and easier. Also...use pool acid to clean up rust , works really great and faster than most rust removers.
Still hate the 997tt spoiler but love you and the channel, like to watch you learn and build stuff, dont let my spoiler hate make you think I dont like you
Man i don't know how you cannot be overwhelmed with this project considering the amount of work and how you go back and forward from a job to another. I don't know if you use workshop manual or what else. Including all the research for OE or aftermarket parts and obviously the money involved is incredible. I just stage my 2 car with full bolt on tune and some chassis parts and it's a money pit. 👍 Good job. This is not easy for sure. Not sure if all people figured this out !!¡
@@matt13ross Good man! Fog the shit out of the cylinders and hand crank it a few times, then add a touch more. When the engine is installed, ready to go, leave the spark plugs out and crank to shoot out the remaining oil. Replace plugs and send it.
Hey Matt loving the E30 content.i had one of those about 18 years ago and sold it way too cheap.didn’t realise the iconic status they would achieve .you got wheeels in mind
For added protection just in case of a crack in the block add Blue devil sealer into the coolant mixture it can mix with coolant and is a permanent seal and also you can leave it in forever 🤔🤓🧸🧸🎉
These e30 project are very interesting, also need so check those e36 video, when it looks interesting and cool videos, keep it coming/making, length of the videos is just right.
Bro who painted the car, watching this series hearing the slander every video: *sweating profusely and foaming at the mouth* whispers to himself “…but this was my best work.”
Matt, i’ve been keeping up with your videos whenever I have time. Coming from someone who has fully restored a BMW e30 325is (@m20iswear). I admire your grind and willingness to make it better. Although I have to say I’m noticing a lot of careless wrenching? Is this project not supposed to be a restoration? For example the grease left all around the axle bolts ? and on the exterior of the rubber boots? Don’t let me get started on that engine… that cylinder head needs to come off and be sent off to a machinist to get done proper. That block should really get pulled apart and those cylinder walls bored out to remove all that shit. I’m proud of you for tackling this but if this is going to be a proper e30 m3 when done it needs to be done proper and not cutting any corners.
Those axels look like the parts store axels. I broke those like 6-7 times in a row with my 230hp E46 so if those aren’t real BMW axels they will break on you QUICK.
I admire your ability to jump into a project and get it done, and quickly. I am working on a '67 Austin Healey 3000 and I feel like it is taking forever. I should have you step in and finish it. You would probably have it done by the weekend!
Axle? Surly that’s a Driveshaft? Not a criticism, just curious. Your vids are awesome, I hope your channel keeps growing as you deserve the rewards for the hard work 👍🏽
Depends where you are from, the UK call the drive shafts, axels are normally referring to the whole rear end of a live axle (non-independent rear end), and a prop shaft is the ‘drive shaft’ between the engine and diff.
Hello from Ireland again, Matt. Wow, Cracked engine block? You must have a way around this, Crazy engine, Matt. I love these BMWs. Lovely Axles, lol 😆 😄 😜 keep up the great work, matt. 😂😂🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Matt, I enjoy your channel, but take to to the next level. Put the chassis on a rotisserie, prep and paint appropriately, then build it back up. That way you know the whole build. Everything is 100%. All of your cars so far have been fun, however, you haven't gone through everything 100%. No offense. You've half-assed a few things and it doesn't contribute to the quality of the build.
This isn't a show car. This is going to be a fun DD. No reason to do a rotisserie for something I'm going to drive all the time. Maybe in the future, or with another M3 build, but not this one.
Agreed. I like the channels with *limited* resources. Matt is doing a great job in a way that is inspirational/aspirational to the weekend warrior. I’d like to see a bigger garage and lift but I appreciate more that he works through it. He’s using tools that your average person may not have but it’s more down to earth than all the Bugatti RUclipsrs I have lost interest in.
I agree, i like the channel the way it is it’s not a pebble beach build channel we don’t have to wait weeks for parts to finish the unicorn in the bubble wrap garage.. 👍🙏

those bores are terrifying 😬
if I saw that I would be pulling the head and at least flex-honing them.
Agreed they look trashed, can't have that much rust just sitting there.
Have you ever seen submerged engines brought back to life? They always look like that. Just very minor rust that will go away quickly.
back to life is one thing, but how long do those motors stay together?
I've definitely run worse in track cars, but the lifetime of those motors was measured in dozens of hours.
Id be pulling those cylinders. Lots of moisture in there.
E said it was do to him pressure washing the block right before but definitely looked sus

Now you need to go and watch his whole back catalogue of videos! 😂
As strange as this might sound, it's good to hear you make your grunt sound as you get tight bolts loose...

I had the same issue with the axles on my e28. It was a nightmare but I found a video explaining it and I was able to get them back together.
Get a wirewheel to clean up parts , it's quicker and easier.

RS style spoilers rock, turbo spoilers don't. 😂
Ahahaha, maybe one day I'll change it.
I admire all your work man ❤❤
I appreciate that!
@matt13ross seeing you working alone...filming and working at the car...cleaning...that s alot.

Dude, put fogging oil in the cylinders like yesterday.
Just ordered!
Yes fogging oil for men
@@matt13ross Good man! Fog the shit out of the cylinders and hand crank it a few times, then add a touch more. When the engine is installed, ready to go, leave the spark plugs out and crank to shoot out the remaining oil. Replace plugs and send it.
Sreten likes this😂

Good time to replace the foam HVAC duct gaskets 😊
Oh good call!
Glad the cylinder is not cracked...build is coming along nicely !!
Wouldn’t a compression test tell you if you had any issues with the cylinder walls?
If it hasn't been already done, stick an MZ3 steering rack in that baby!! Pretty easy swap although they're difficult to source.
Purple tag
The Right blue devil gasket sealer runs about 54.99, o'reilly's, AutoZone everybody carries it but get the one that mixes with the coolant ! 😉🎉🎉🎉
Yes to the leather dash!!!
That engine bay screws "I know a guy that can do it cheaper" 😂
That's A Nice Street Crack In The Wall Of That Cylinder 😮,😢
Matt, you should always do a leak down test on a used engine
That’s a tool I need to buy
@matt13ross $40 on Amazon. Cheap!
@matt13ross love the videos btw!
Love this build but still miss the 911 content 👍👍🙏🇬🇧
Love this. Keep up the good work!
good work got done in the video, keep it up.
Its about time. Thank you thank you Matt.
I’m watching this and wondering how it’s going to get put back together. Excited for this build
I never thought, i‚ll say it in my Life. But hey Boy, you are the one and only american, who is doing a great job! 🤷♂️
😂 thanks!
These e30 project are very interesting, also need so check those e36 video, when it looks interesting and cool videos, keep it coming/making, length of the videos is just right.
friend, I'm writing to you from Italy, check the cylinder compression, I had a bad surprise, blown head gasket! common problem
please don't take any short cuts with this car, it's going to be beatiful when fully done.
new black leather with red beading 👌
Bro who painted the car, watching this series hearing the slander every video: *sweating profusely and foaming at the mouth* whispers to himself “…but this was my best work.”
😂 idk who painted it

Did you wpc the bearings
Enjoy watching your content, hello from Scotland, UK. Who is Donald?
Not sure why you didn’t put some oil down each cylinder when you saw the corrosion?
Yet another great video. You spoiled us with that long video a couple vids back.
Clean all the abs brake lines with acetone with a rag and the stickers should hold up to clean with lacquer thinners and a rag
I was thinking of just re doing them completely.
Those axels look like the parts store axels. I broke those like 6-7 times in a row with my 230hp E46 so if those aren’t real BMW axels they will break on you QUICK.
please do more longer video 🥺
Matt. Get the dash redone and flock it so it looks like alcantara. Or wrap it in alcantara
Don't flock, you would regret this down the line.
@ wrap it then
Pretty sure that ABS pump is NLA so treat it like gold
What do you think of Viofo dash cams? They have a new one out A329 in a single or two channel setup
How much time do you put into making a video (filming, editing, etc.)?
At least double the amount of time it takes to do the work to the car.
what bora scope is that?
Teslong
Hey, I got a shoutout! 🥰 Feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have, I know these cars and engines fairly well!
Great shape to be working with__
lets goo, new upload
The axel stubs look like their from an e36/46 style that’s not common
fabric >> leather for interior.
get an e36 Mtech 2 steering wheel bro
great videos! love does, the code not working
Have a look at Driftworks M3 in Uk 👍
I miss my e46m3
Do the leather dashboard.

Hope you're going to have the decency to do a shaved engine bay .....
Not shaved, but I am making it nicer.
Axle? Surly that’s a Driveshaft?

Wait, did he say butt plugs at the beginning of the video? 😂
WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK I SAID BUTT PLUGS????? LOLOL
@ 😂😂😂
I never understand how someone takes a car apart lol. How the fuck u remember where it goes lol
I don’t lol
E ridicolo verniciare il vano motore senza smontare le parti, hanno sfumato tutto con la vernice,ma come si fa a fare una cosa cosi!!!
A shame to put S54 into this car that relies on the original 4 cylinder engine for weight distribution for proper handling.
🎉
now this is a project
Hurry up with the next video👌🏻
Spat my coffee out at 0.34 secs... sorry what, he bought b*tt plugs?!? 😮🤣

👍🙏
Why do i feel like your lady left you😅
why do you feel it is any of your business?
Please consider not playing music…look at the biggest successful channels on car repair…rarely music….its the wrong place to be different on….imho 😅😊😅
The biggest RUclipsr is Mat Armstrong and he plays musics. Plus, I like it.
