    2:00 its a Helmholtz resonator, designed so that exhaust sound waves at a certain frequency go into the pipe and destructfully combine eliminating each other. the length of the pipe is in relation to the frequency that you want to eliminate, usually a drone point.

      Technically that is not a Helmholtz design, it's simply a resonator. Helmholtz has a very specific and high aspect ratio shape.

    • @keefgtp
      @keefgtp Месяц назад +4

      And they work very well. Helmholtz resonators are a sign of good engineering which only a few aftermarket companies ever bother with.

      @@AMMO-NYCit functionally makes the pipe longer and thus moves the drone center further aft outside the cockpit in the car. Neat trick and why many aftermarket s2000 exhausts create a lot of drone.

    23:49 The A pillar is actually black tape, hence the cracking. Underneath the tape usually has the body color paint under it but it’s been sort of a crapshoot because while most of the time it’s a finished pillar, there have been instances where the clear coat isn’t even applied. Worse yet, there’s been cases where it wasn’t painted at all, but that’s hearsay - I’ve never seen it unpainted in person. Great video!

    I worked at an Acura dealership back in 2000-2002 as a porter. One of the service advisors had an S2000. Once a week if I washed it for him, as "payment" he'd let me take it out for a spin after I was done. Being 20 years old and loving the car, that seemed fair to me. Like Larry said, it's not the fastest car I've ever driven...but it's definitely one of the most fun cars I've ever driven hands down. It screams up to that 9k rpm mark! So much fun. If It had been mine back then, I would have been in trouble constantly! Definitely a fun car to drive!

When I test drove it at delivery, the seat bolsters cut onto my kidney area and hut so bad I couldn't drive the car. The dealer said not to worry as they would break in but that was silly when you can't drive the car. I bought a Subaru STI later that day. Hi, Larry! I didn't know you could use something like Rapid Remover on carpets. Very good to know. Recently I had something similar, half of a decent size melted candle under the passenger seat in a Ford Fusion. I ended up using a light degreaser, let it sit for 15 min, then when I came back the wax had dissolved into a liquid. From there I used a plastic razor blade and shop towels to get as much up as I could without ruining my good towels, then extracted and it looked brand new. Random thoughts from other detailers.

    Wow, what a transformation. These early S2000s are definitely future collectibles. I noted what appear to be a few dings in the rear deck lid. Do you employ a good PDR guy on this kind of damage? A good PDR guy is worth his weight in gold. Well done, Larry.

    One of the greatest cars that Honda ever made with the exception of the NSX and a few others. Hopefully they will resurrect this model at some point in the future. I wanted one of these so bad when they were first released but just couldn't seem to pull it off due to having two children at home at the time and it wasn't a very practical car for that purpose so the wife nixed those plans. The light blue Club Racer (CR) version was the one I had my eye on. I absolutely loved the electronic dash/gauge layout. It made the car look so far ahead of it's time for that period and made it seem more exotic. Then the prices skyrocketed on the aftermarket so I just gave up. Waiting and hoping for Honda to bring the model back someday hopefully. Maybe as an updated hybrid/gas engine version with even more horsepower than it had originally! Just keep that screamin' engine note if you do bring it back Honda!

      Oh, forgot to say. Great job Larry. That S2000 cleaned up amazingly well for being kept outdoors for six years.

    What an amazing job as always. I would've loved to see a dry ice cleaning on the underside. Thanks for all your great videos.

    Silverstone metallic is such a beautiful Silver. Also that little piece of exhaust extension is for exhaust drone. Not sure if it was factory or added on though from say a previous muffler setup
