    Just for those wondering why it sat for 22 years. The owner originally bought the vehicle in black but when he took it in for an oil change one of the workers at the shop took it for a joy ride and totaled it. After being reimbursed the owner went and bought this one to replace it. However after a few years of driving it, his insurance skyrocketed to $700/month. Back in ~1996 that was just way too much to spend so he decided to let it sit for a bit. However, a bit turned into a lot longer than expected when life took over. Check out the road and track article if you’re interested:

      I dunno how accurate this is. The original inspection stickers are still on the car, expired in 1993. They would stand out to an eager State Trooper up there if he was putting miles on it until 1996.

    • @kbf5037
      @kbf5037 5 месяцев назад +99

      The dates are not accurate as I’m not the owner but a family friend and my husband can be seen in the video in the back when the owner first walks in to see the car revealed. 1996 was just a year that I threw out there knowing that he drove it for a bit before having to park it due to the insurance increase. 31+ years ago is a long time to remember exact dates even for the owner. He didn’t update insurance or get it inspected after 1993. But needless to say he had the car for ~2 years before having to “park” it for insurance purposes.

Now he wants to sell the car because he needs money and NEVER appreciated the wonderful machine he had in his hands... this video serves as a warning to people: LIVE LIFE! As a former mechanic I highly recommend removing the fuel pump fuse before hooking up a jump box like this. Turning the key to the on position causes the fuel pump to prime, sucking up all that nasty old fuel and bacteria that's been sitting in the tank. Doing what the video shows could clog the fuel pickup, contaminate the lines, and clog the injectors at startup.

      Very good advice! A modern engine would definitely be shot!
      Honda/Acura 90's engines are on a different level though. My brother once drove from Tampa to Miami in his 98 Civic without cooling fluid (the mechanic forgot to put new fluid in after draining the old one) and the car was still going and intact afterwards. He put another 40k miles on it with no issues before selling it.
      Japanese cars from the 80's/ 90's were awesome.

The reason I say this is because even front mounted engines can be mid-engine, and only saying mid-engine could mean either of the two. For example: The Dodge Viper has ALWAYS been front mid-engine, as the engine sits behind the front wheels.

    Larry certainly knows more about detailing in his small finger than I could ever know, but I do have to question not removing the seats for the mold clean. Certainly mold doesn't say "hey, let's just get moldy on the front of the seats and not on the back or the carpet" I know if must be more labor intensive, but a necessary step to completely rid the interior of the mold.

    Amazing transformation and restoration Larry. That's crazy all that mold was all over that vehicle. Mold removal is a tricky business. I would have thought that car was totalled and would have to have been junked due to the mold contamination alone. Really nice job bringing it back to its former glory. This is one of Honda's crowning achievements (along with the S2000). I lusted after one of these for many years but to no avail. I was never able to pull it off before they were discontinued. It's hard to find a good one with low miles now without them being astronomically priced. Even the super high mileage ones are too much money now days. Oh well, on to the next vehicle I will lust after.............
