What game should I play for the next episode of New Game+?
Super Star Wars trilogy
Pepsiman!

The Completionist: "....Do I?" *grins*
Lmao that is a really underrated comment!
Telling a younger generation how intense TMNT-mania was back in the late 80s and early 90s, it was a dominating ever present force. Everything was TMNT , all the time. Houses filled to the brims with action figures and vehicles, Pizza for dinner with weird stuff on it. If people went back in time and saw how every little boy fucking obsessively ate , drank and breathed TMNT back then they'd think it was some kind of pre-pubescent religion. Being in 30s rough heh
they get plenty of that. minions, star wars, disney. a few years ago my young cousins were into the equivalent of polly pocket.
I played this game all the time with my older siblings when I was a kid in our conversion van on long road trips! Such great memories...
Always love the story behind waking up from the coma.
I remember reading the manual for this game and seeing the vague descriptions of the attack options. There was one I couldn't quite figure out, so I started experimenting and found the 4-point attack (where you run, flip, then charge attack). No one else I knew and no guides or coverage I saw for the game mentioned this, they thought the most you could get per kill was throwing the enemies at the screen for 3-points. I felt like the MFing Wizard.
That voicemail from your father is so incredibly real, raw, and amazing. I can tell your father truly loves you, from the irrationality in his words, to the fact that he knew you'd love the game. Seriously, that voicemail in and of itself is art.
Also, the black and white skit was PHENOMENAL. Absolutely wonderful.
It is so nice to see Jirard having fun with this episode.
Even back before He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named became persona non grata among fans -- myself included -- I was always a little let down that Jirard didn't complete this game himself.
But seeing this, and hearing Jirard's story, I'm really glad New Game + exists. This episode in particular is one I've been looking forward to for a long time, since even though I was only a partial fan of TMNT, Turtles in Time is one of the few arcade beat-em-ups that I like better than the X-Men Arcade Game, and I say this as a lifelong, devoted fan of the X-Men franchise (#GiveMarvelBackTheRights #StormFan4Life).
Jirard, your story is super touching and inspiring, and I'm glad you finally got the courage to share it with us. It's awesome to see that some of these games still have the same luster for you now that they did back when you first covered them -- I'm aware the Nostalgia Filter is incredibly strong, particularly for the 16-bit era, but some of these games were legitimately awesome -- and not just the Squaresoft or Enix RPGs. It's nice to see TMNT is one of those games that's stayed awesome over the years.
Curt Clark jirard is still fucktard
Curt Clark do u know what actually happened? I have only been subbed to him for a year so when he made his video on how half of his completionist contact was going to be removed, that was the first time I had heard of the other guy at all
Look at those 2 butthurt dickwads...
StorySmith [] I'm also a relatively new fan, & I've been wondering what happened too. I think they had some sort of falling out or disagreement. But I don't really know any of the details.
I think he did share this story with us in an episode of Why We Love Games.
Oh my god! That part at the beginning with the coma! I actually remember you told this story st some point on game grumps but forgot about it, but as soon as I heads the heartbeat monitor I remembered exactly what this was!
Watching this video literally made me tear up a the thought that I once owned this game as a child and have absolutely no idea what happened to my copy. I spent probably hundreds of hours playing this game because I was such a HUGE fan of TMNT. Every single clip that Jirard brought on screen, I still remember exactly where int he game it is and what is going on. Good times...
I remember the first time you told that story on a stream a million years ago! I really miss being able to tune in to those and watch as you completed the games and even the editing process, I learned so much from those sessions!
Ok, but like... That one time Jared and Ross showed Jirard the "Pizza Time" video for the first time WHILE he was playing Turtles in Time.
I have to watch that now.
“You can’t even see the pizza! YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE THE PIZZA!”

The part where you throw Footclan ninjas at Shreddar in semi-3D was taken from Battletoads on NES' first level

Jirard, I thwohmping love the replacement for curse word sensor. Honestly, I think you should keep it for the rest of your videos. I mean, I already used it in this post, so....
A Str or just actually swear...
Jeff Neumann
This is a pretty kid friendly program. Besides, what would the cursing even add?
yes because nobody knows what someone is saying when a beep sound covers it.
The Loneliest Rocket So why censor something that happens all the time in real life? And yes it is adding emphasis and emotion. This argument of not adding anything meaningfull is wrong. Words are tools of communication and if the tools we are given were not affective we would not use them.
Can, everyone please stop bickering about this? I just wanted to have some fun with this post, not create this kind of controversy......
I’ve had my copy of Turtles in Time since it launched. So many wonderful memories playing this at my Granparent’s house every weekend and I might be one of the few to say this, but this was vastly superior to the Arcade version (even though I did enjoy it). My favorite level will always be the Neon Night Rider and Pirate ship stage; both musical tracks and stage designs are so incredible.
You should probably put New Game Plus in the title if you're making it a separate series from the main show.
It does have New Game Plus in the title.
Frank F when it was uploaded it didn't
Got ya.
You should've gotten either Doug Walker or James Rolfe for this review. They were huge Turtle fans as well.
Mathew Swift almost everyone who was a kid at the time were huge turtle fans
James Rolfe, maybe. Doug Walker? He's not someone I'd suggest Jirard go to for...well anything really, especially not games.
Mathew Swift Andre from Black Nerd Comedy would have been the best one
Doug Walker would've made this video into garbage just by his presence.
Your coma story is one of the few things that can instantly bring a few tears of joy to my eyes. I guess your dad maybe always talked like a sailor, but I like to believe he never cussed a day in his life until that phone call, and what we're hearing is a re-enactment of a man shouting in rage against the very universe and shaking it down for the most important thing in the world.
Turtles In Time was actually and unlockable in TMNT 3 Mutant Nightmare on GameCube. That's where I played it and I loved it each time!
Timmara I have it on PS2
Some what late to be replying here. Never the less I shall. Is the unlock the Arcade version? I assume it's the Arcade version and not the superior SNES version.
I think it was the arcade version because you could press buttons to get extra lives
@@PicksterTG It is. On top of that, all of the music was replaced due to copyright although the new tunes aren't bad and they at least had the sense to give each stage their own song. The version of the first arcade game found in TMNT 2 Battle Nexus only had one song for all of the stages and most of the dialogue audio completely removed. Imagine having to play almost the entire game just to unlock that butchered port.
I have all 2003 TMNT games on the original Xbox, and I gotta say it's a nice treat to have the two TMNT arcade games unlocked since there really is no other way to get them digitally aside from emulation.
Awwww, that's a sweet story. Thank you. Reminds me of Mel Blanc being revived by a doctor asking to speak with Bugs Bunny.
Oh, so THATS why it’s called “Turtles in Time”!
I find it quite funny and wholesome that the ninja turtles took you out of a coma
Some say he never woke up, that he wished to be 4 forever and got his wish....... Jirard is Ash Complete-em guys
8:45, LITERALLY NAILS the magical childhood I remember so fondly. Chuck E Chesse's would have us kids glued to this cabinet pumping in quarters like nobody's business! This game is SO unique, now I play it on SNES every once in a glorious while. The MUSIC and sound effects can't be seen anywhere else along with the bosses. Awesome video thank you!
The original version of this episode was a "mediocrist" review meaning it wasn't actually completed
I mean yeah, but I'm just saying the original review didn't even beat the game and discuss the end of the game
So he one-upped a shitty review. Your point?
seymourglass26 my point is that I’m glad he actually did a proper review of this game, I enjoyed the original for the humor of it, but I always wanted him to do a full review of it too
@@gamingnavi way to turn the trolls to stone.
I've heard the wake up story so many times, and it never gets old. I absolutely love it. A little magic in a cold and dark world.
Cowa effin´ bunga !
This game is a timeless classic, I have this on my SNES collection.
The simple addition of having the game give you a completion time added so much replay value to it. This was my introduction to the concept of speed running and I spent years working on getting my time down. The game became less about the challenge it presents against the player and more about how incredibly the player could kick the game's ass. I've probably played it through 100 times--I even play through it with my daughter every so often. It was incredible to break the 25 minute barrier as a kid (in 2-player). It's still my perfect example of how a well-designed short game with tons of replay value can feel like it is more worth your money than a long game with little replay value.
I guess you could say Turtles in Time is badass in a half-shell: COMPLETIONIST POWER!

"Sometimes, it's not what you unlock in the game, it's what the game unlocks in you"
Amazing words, my friend.
Thank you for this deep dive into my favourite game ever!
I used to beat this game so often, that after every boss fight me and my bro would try to place our characters on the exact tile that the level would end at hoping not to move the character at all
I used to do this too!
"Up in the distance the game's dragging on, there's strikes on the batter, some runners are on. Suddenly everyone's looking at me, my mind has been wondering what could it be, they point to the sky and I look up above and a baseball falls in to my glove..."
Finish it🎙️
Okay, this was a good video and all. But when are you gonna do the Mario All-Star Pack?

You can check it out on Beard bros.

And it has to have super Mario world
Nothing feels better then still being able to play a game you got in your childhood. Almost like a time capsule but not really.
I demand more tmnt radio hour
Someone needs to make a gif of Jirad making the SFX.
That's one hell of a thing. Getting knocked into a coma at 4 years old, and the promise of a new Ninja Turtles game brought you back to the lad of the living.
It's about *TIME* you did a New Game+ for TMNT!
This was a rather heartfelt episode. I love Turtles in Time too and I was a massive TMNT fan as a kid! I can't remember how many original comics I used to draw with the Turtles as the main cast back in the day...
Then the cowabunga collection was announced. Lol. Now the original SNES cart is pointless lol.
Jirard, when you said “Big Apple 3AM” me and my friends always said it like that. It’s iconic. Major props for this episode and glad to have these new game + episodes!

TMNT 4 was the first super nintendo game i ever played and to this day is my all time favorite snes game. Lots of great memorys came from this game. Really cool that someone like you has just as much fun playing it as i do.
TMNT is life.
Please do Hyperstone Heist. With the Cowabunga Collection on the way, the time has come!
So, Jirard - do you prefer the 80s Turtles or the 00s Turtles? Personally, I love the 2000s Turtles, since I always watched those on Saturday mornings
That show was amazing.
ShermTank7272 I love the 2000. Man that show went to some dark places.
The 2003 Turtles cartoon was amazing. My girlfriend has been a big fan of the 2012 Turtles since it came out and it's actually been growing on me a little bit.
me personally I'd choose the 2003 TMNT show since I wasn't even born when the original cartoon was on. that and the 2003 show was great. the animation, the music, the stories and characters were really well done. and it did get kinda dark at times
The Turtles from the 1990 live-action film are my favorites. It stuck to the original lore and was still funny, but wasn't afraid to get dark and gritty when necessary.
I love how he used music from Donkey Kong Country 2 XD
Play Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens in preperation for the Last Jedi

Ok, there must be a story behind why 6:50 happened. That just looks so bizarre that it couldn't have been as simple as "here's a great awkward cutaway gag I want to do for the show, you guys want to help?"
I'm totally down for the new series. Good intro too!
Youknow one thing really amazing about this channel is? Im always hearing so letsplayers make dumb reasons why they don't finish games they start and how some games are too long, and heres this guy completing games 100% in like 1 to 2 weeks time.
This game will always stand the test of time.

I luv the completionists about old school games, jirard seems less stressed & frustrated and truly enjoys playin them
Nostalgic here!
Fortunately anyone can play all 3 versions of Turtles in Time (arcade, SNES & The Hyperstone Heist) on the Cowabunga Collection now
Three down, one hundred and seventeen to go.
Jirard, I come to your videos for the game reviews and fun, but I stay for the honest, humble, and genuine person that you continue to show you are.
TMNT Rules! Does anyone here read The Comics??? I do. I'll admit My Favourite Characters have to be Donatello and Bebop
The comics were a bit too dark for me, but I like how they mixed it up with Yujimbo and Savage Dragon.
joey zapata Each to their own I guess. I like them beacuse it shows how TMNT went from being a Parody comic to a huge juggernaut of a franchise.
TMNT was and still is my favorite franchise to this day at 31. Just seeing this game always brings me back to my youth.
TMNT 4 is the very first game that I finished. I was 10 years old and I finished with my cousin like at 11PM (it feeled like 6am at that age though xD)
Thank you for mentioning how tricky the throws are. When you set it to hard mode and the 1st Shredder level was such a pain when you had to throw guys with blockers. My cousins and I would spend hours playing this game.
TMNT 2 arcade game and TMNT 4 turtles in time are my favorites game all time
TMNT 3 had the best bosses. Would have been awesome to see that game remade on the Sega Saturn or Playstation 1 back in the day. Felt like the NES held back that game's potential the same way it held back TMNT 2.
I love how they use the original color pallette of different greens and Donnie is brown like he's technically supposed to be!
Cowabunga!
What's that face
dammit, my feelers, bro. i love that you still have your orig. copy *sniffle sniffle.*
Was that actually your dad at the beginning on the “phone”
I am a huge fan of this game as well, seeing it talked about at length like this made me feel good, like a sense of redemption almost. Nobody ever feels the same way I do about it when I try to show them it, they play it a couple times perhaps and get bored. But me, I always love to play it again, it's a rare breed of beat 'em up where I don't get mad or bored of it. It felt good being able to agree with a lot of what you had to say about it.
COMPLETE F-ZERO GX!!!
Good god, the story mode in very hard is gonna fuck him up... but I believe he can do it.
Necromagenvion Ω I agree! He’s completed many hard games before, and F Zero GX wouldn’t be as difficult as Catherine or Metal Gear Solid.
he can totally do it, in fact i believe he has before in the previous 120, so maybe we'll see it in new game plus... though he needs to locate a F-Zero AX arcade cabinet and earn the vehicles and parts from there to truly make the game complete.
The Gaming Paladin nah man, he has never completed that game, and he does have an ax machine!!, in their office in fact.... You can see it in the last behind the scenes vídeo, aldo.... You don't realy need it if you finish every cup in the hardest dificulty
The Gaming Paladin he already has an AX cabinet so the episode is definitely possible!
I have the original cart for this game. I didn't have an SNES as a kid but my neighbor did and we played it all the time. When I got older and earned my own money I started buying retro stuff like this and this game was one of the first I bought. 60 bucks, no box, no manual just the cart. Best 60 bucks I ever spent
Teenage Mutant NinJirards
lol, made me giggle
Im glad to say that my town at least has a Retro Game Store. actually 4 of them all within a decent distance. I see this game there all the time, and Earthbound, final fantasy 2(4)/3(6), I'm waiting on a call for Legend of Legaia right now though.
luckily I still have my digital copy of this game on the Xbox 360. damn shame tho that it's not available anymore. also a shame with Scott Pilgrim being taken down. never got to play that one :(
The Scott Pilgrim game is one of the hardest games I've ever played.
Fuckin love that coma story man. How is it not a movie? Your dad's a boss.
80's TMNT and the TMNT Turtle in Time was the best FACT
iCeMaN tHe BeSt I prefer the 2000 series my self.
2012 Turtles are pretty amazing
iCeMaN tHe BeSt if it's the best fact then what's the worst fact?
+Timmy Teaches the 3rd live-action movie is the worst fact. >.
The 80's turtles are the best. They had the most charm and it was the 80's cartoon that really started the whole ninja turtle craze. Nothing will ever top the original campy cartoon
Turtles in Time on the SNES is, in my opinion, the greatest beat 'em up there has ever been. I would LOVE a 4-player version of this!
@@anthony3822 The arcade version has different stages, bosses, and I felt like the combat was smoother, which ironically felt worse to me.
Turtle Power!!!
That Matt ;
This is one of a few games that I never get tired of playing over and over.
pepsi for pizza
TMNT 4 is one of the games I played a lot with my sister when we were kids, the others being Goof Troop, Super Double Dragon and the Donkey Kong Country series. She still remembers all of them, even though she's not into games.
#Recompletionist
I have my same copy from when I was 5 years old. I have completed the game 100s of times. I have played with numerous different people. Guess what. Never got old. The music itself gets me AMPED. Its a crime that it was not on the SNES classic.
WHY does the Remaster so much hate? It' s at least as good as the original.
It looks good enough for me. And I played both the Original and the Remaster. Gameplay in the Remaster is as spot on as in the original.
I'm just angry it came and went before I had a chance to buy it. I've never owned a legal copy of this game, digitally or tangibly.
Curt Clark - I can only hope somehow a physical copy is released; Maybe Limited Run can get the rights to rerelease it on the PS Vita.
A. The Remaster cuts out "Technodrome: Let's Kick Shell". Fuck the Remaster.
B. The Remaster makes the game fully 3D, which really messes with the combat and makes it awkward instead of awesome.
C. There is no Slash. Fuck the Remaster.
I just prefer the super nintendo version. 1). It had the shredder level that I fell in love with (didn't play the arcade that far thru when I played this). 2). It has slash for the prehistoric level boss instead of that slime creature 3). This was the first game I felt was nearly identical to the arcade in every other aspect.
This was one of my favorite games on SNES that I owned. I loved TMNT so much as a child I even had my grandpa design a picture using his AutoCAD computer of all of them that said Teenage Mutant above their heads and Ninja Turtles underneath them. I also really enjoyed Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! I'm pretty sure those are the first games I ever completely beat
I had this baby sitter when I was a little kid who had kids of her own and one of them had this game. I don’t even wanna know how many hours of my young life I spent playing that over and over and over, but the memories attached to the game that I have are absolutely wonderful, and like you, I was (and truthfully, still kinda am) obsessed with the Turtles. Seeing this was a real blast from the past for me
